Eric Thompson had arrived earlier at the banquet and witnessed the grand entrance of Rita and Chris.
To say he was shocked would be an understatement, he was petrified. He actually thought Rita was still incarcerated so seeing her here by the side of the most powerful man in the country surprised him to the core.
“Would she want to take revenge on me?” He mumbled to himself. His heart raced when he thought of how she was involved with a powerful man like Christopher Stevens.
“Relax babe, remember everything we did was properly done. Everything shows that Rita did it herself.” Patricia Crawford said as she tightened her hold on Eric’s arm. She had also recognized Rita and the handsome man who was looking for her some weeks ago. Her chest tightened with jealousy as she glared holes into Rita’s back.
Patricia’s words had put Eric at ease. Indeed there was no need to worry for every evidence pointed in Rita’s direction.

Thank you so much for reading ❤️❤️❤️.
Chris had been in a serious discussion with Abdurrahman and Ibrahim in a private lounge. They had concluded and had decided to sign the contract the coming week. “Christopher, there’s a young man who’s trying to join our project. He said he’s the new CEO of the Jones group. What do you think? Should we incorporate him?” Abdurrahman asked. Chris had been looking for a way to bring down Eric. He had already sought advise from his lawyers and they had stated how it would be hard to charge him with theft. The way he got the company looked clean. Only Rita was implicated in the process. Having a partnership with Eric would be the ultimate weapon to use against him. So Abdurrahman’s proposal was highly welcomed by Chris. He had already thought of a plan on how to bring Eric down and get Rita’s company back. “No problem, he can come on board. After all, we want fresh blood right?” Chris remarked and they all laughed heartily. Chris put down h
When Rita entered the car, she gave Chris a small smile to mask her emotions. They rode the car in silence until they parked outside skybar. When Rita saw the place they had come to, she looked up at Chris, confused. “Thought you’d need a drink after that ordeal.” Chris said as he unbuckled his seat belt and stepped out of the car. Rita followed him out in silence, she was still in low spirits. The moment Chris and Rita entered a private lounge, excited voices erupted in the air. “Surprise!!!” Rita’s breath hitched when she saw her friends in the lounge, with a man she couldn’t recognize. She turned her gaze towards the man next to her. She didn’t know how to describe him anymore, sometimes he was cold, other times he was sweet. Most times he was playful. ‘Just which one is the real you Chris?’ As if hearing her thoughts, Chris turned and they locked eyes. Rita’s heart skipped a beat. ‘Why is he so handsome?’ “Ahem… I think you
The next day. “Arrrrgh!” Rita groaned in frustration as she recalled the previous night’s activities while showering in the bathroom. Rita couldn’t believe she let alcohol control her to that extent. What would Chris think of her now? She dreaded thinking about the aftermath of their little wild adventure. When Rita woke up 30 minutes earlier, she had delayed in opening her eyes in fear of coming face to face with Chris. Since it was a Saturday, they were likely to both stay home. But Rita soon realized she was alone in bed much to her relief. At least she had ample time to compose herself. Rita’s relief only lasted a few seconds as her heart sank. Chris left just like that after what they had done last night. “Does it mean it meant nothing to him?” Rita mumbled to herself, clearly conflicted. She didn’t know whether to feel relieved that she didn’t have to face Chris just yet, or to feel distraught that he didn’t wait for her
Rita was taken aback by Chris’s question. She felt like she had heard that kind of question before. Then it hit her. Years ago… when they had just enrolled into college. ~Flashback~ Rita: 18 years old Eric: 19 years old Chris: 20 years old It was a Saturday afternoon and Rita had just finished having a group discussion and was heading back to her room. She found flowers and a box of chocolates just outside her door. Picking up the flowers, Rita took out the card and read its contents. RITA, WOULD YOU LIKE TO GO ON A DATE WITH ME? There was no name but Rita immediately guessed who it was. “So romantic!” She quickly took out her phone and dialed Eric. “Hel—” “Yes!” Rita said excitedly before Eric could even say hello. “Uhm.. yes to what?” Eric asked on the other side of the phone, sounding confused. “Yes to that date. Don’t go playing dumb with me I know you put flowers and chocolates outside m
Guests who were arriving at the Blue lake gardens stole glances at the couple who were sitting in an ambiguous position in the driver’s seat of a G-Wagon at the parking lot. Two silhouettes could be clearly seen embracing each other in the driver’s seat. The female figure was straddling the male with her face buried in the crook of his neck as her body trembled slightly. The guests couldn’t help but scorn them in hushed whispers. “Young people nowadays, they couldn’t wait till they got home?” “They are so shameless to do it in the open and in broad daylight.” “Imagine! I wonder what kind of girl would accept such a thing.” Meanwhile, in the G-Wagon, Chris kept consoling Rita who was crying like a baby. She had been scared out of her wits and couldn’t let go of Chris so he had to carry her out and sit with her in the driver’s seat. “I’m sorry Rita. I didn’t know you’d freak out like this. Stop crying please.” Chris said helpless
The moment Rita’s words left her lips, Chris stiffened and his heart skipped a beat. He was absolutely taken aback by the sudden confession. This was what he had always wanted.. for Rita to love him back. He stood in place, shocked with widened eyes. Chris felt his heart pound heavily against his ribcage in excitement. ‘Am I dreaming? Rita just said she loves me. Please don’t wake me up if I’m dreaming.’ Chris thought to himself, he was too stunned to say anything just yet. In Rita’s eyes Chris’s reaction looked like something else entirely. She thought the feelings were not mutual and Chris was stuck with how to respond to her confession. “Hahaha! Got you! You should see the look on your face. I was just joking!” Rita said, trying to laugh off her confession awkwardly. Not knowing she had just hit a nerve in Chris. Chris let go of Rita’s hands and clenched his hands into fists, struggling to stay calm as a pang of pain shot through hi
Chris rushed to his parent's mansion as fast as he could. The moment he had made some money, he had built his family a big Victorian styled mansion. They had their own house helps, gardeners and drivers. Reaching the entrance, Chris walked through, his heart in his throat. He had received a phone call that his mother was sick and she had collapsed so the family doctor paid her a visit. “Son? Why are you here this late?” Chris heard his father, Michael Stevens ask and his heart sank. His father and sister were sitting in the living room watching TV. The atmosphere didn’t look like anyone was sick at all. “Let me guess? Mom tricked you into coming right?” Jasmine asked with a cocked brow. Jasmine Stevens was Christopher’s younger and only sister. She was 22 and had just graduated from University and she wanted to find a job as a fashion designer. Naturally, she was a kind and honest girl who was easy going. “Shit! Can you imagine
Chris glared at Lydia the moment he cut the phone. “How did you know I’m here?” He asked icily. “I didn’t.. I just came to have a drink then I happened to see you sitting here alone so I walked over to keep you company.” Lydia said, lying through her teeth. The truth was that, when Chris left her, Maria’s driver had given her a lift and she followed Chris to skybar. Lydia sat in a corner waiting for the perfect opportunity to make her move. When she saw Chris talking on the phone, she walked over and spoke ambiguously to create a misunderstanding incase the person on the other end of the line was a woman. Chris scoffed. “You expect me to believe that when desperation is written all over your face?” “You don’t own skybar do you? I can come here anytime I want.” Lydia countered. “Actually, I do.” Chris remarked, taking a sip of his whiskey. Lydia felt her cheeks burn, she just made a fool out of herself when she was supposed to l
