Chapter 2: Get the hell out of my sight!

"Sir, I was asked to remind you about the meeting scheduled with the investors who are interested in the project tomorrow,” Hank, Christian's driver, told him as the car moved along the highway.

“Hmm,” Christian mumbled in response.

"Your mother also called to remind you about the lunch meeting she scheduled for tomorrow. She said you should be there or else, she'd be upset with you,” the driver continued to convey the messages he had been sent to convey to his boss.

Dorian, Christian's brother who was sitting beside him, grinned seeing the sudden distressed look on Christian's face upon hearing what his driver said.

Christian and Dorian were the most famous bachelors in the country but unlike Dorian who had dated countless women, Christian had no love life, even his personal life was rarely exposed.

Many women had tried to gain the attention of Christian but had failed miserably as he had no interest in seeing any women and it was becoming a source of worry for his mother.

"Looks like she wants to have a grandchild soon. Why not save her the trouble and just get married already?" Dorian said mockingly as Christian gave him a cold look as they both knew that topic irritated the latter.

“Looking at me like that won’t change the fact that I just spoke the truth,” Dorian shrugged casually and he turned his attention to the road. Christian shook his head and he reminisced how peaceful his life was before Dorian entered it.

He was the only child of the Romeros, one of the most influential families in the world and that was how it had remained till when he clocked ten and his family decided to adopt Dorian after he lost his mother in an accident since he didn’t have any other family.

It was still unclear as to how Dorian’s mother and his mother became best friends, as Dorian's mother didn't belong to an upper class family and his mother didn't usually pay attention to those kinds of people.

But she made an exception to Dorian's mother and it was a decision that came to haunt him as right from the time when they were born, the two men had been forced to put up with each other with each trying to get into the other’s head and that was how it remained till the present day.

“Why the hell are you in my car instead of yours?” Christian asked irritably. They had both gone to the office in different cars but Dorian refused to ride in his car, leaving his driver to drive it home. His car was currently behind them, and Christian contemplated kicking him out of his own car.

“Because it’s more fun to ride in yours,” Dorian answered. ‘Plus, I get to annoy you,’ he said internally.

"Call my mother and inform her that I'll try to be at the lunch meeting". Christian instructed his driver, and he let out a frustrated sigh as he looked out the window.

Just like Dorian had said, the reason why his mother wanted a lunch meeting was so she could try to get him to settle down.

The last time he met his mother, she had brought a girl along and had tried to convince him to marry her, and that was one out of many occasions.

He however hated it all, going on blind dates and meeting women who used too much makeup and tried too hard to impress him. Many had gone as far as stalking him just to get his attention.

‘Irritating,’ He mused to himself and shook his head.

He looked down to study the business files to get his mind off his meeting with his mom, as he knew he would lose his mind if he kept thinking about that.

He was however unable to concentrate on the file and so he turned to Dorian who was sitting beside him to inquire about the job applications for the post of his executive assistant.

"Last I checked, the department was still receiving applications for the post but that was a while back so I think it should have ended. They should have conducted the interview and chosen the best candidate already,” Dorian informed him.

Christian didn’t like to get involved in such trivial matters, which was why Dorian was handling it for him.

"Whatever you do, I do not want a woman as my assistant. " Christian stated coldly. He considered them too troublesome and so, he liked to keep a distance from them.

Dorian shook his head at Christian's words. "Christian, how are you ever going to settle down if you don't make contact with women? I mean..." He immediately swallowed the rest of his words when Christian turned and gave him a glare.

‘One day, I’ll go crazy because of your cold attitude and mother's nagging to convince you to settle down,’ he muttered under his breath, not daring to say it out loud.

The ride from there was silent until the car jerked and their driver applied the brakes. “What happened?” Dorian asked on behalf of the two men.

“It seems something punctured the tyres,” Hank answered as he unbuckled the seatbelt and got out of the car.

“Oh boy,” Dorian sighed as he also got out of the car. Christian, having no other choice, also unbuckled his seatbelt and he got out of the car.

Thankfully it was only one tyre that had the issue and the driver immediately proceeded to change the tyre. Christian started looking around as if to find something.

“What are you looking for on this deserted road?” Dorian inquired just as a car passed by them.

“The one who set the trap,” Christian answered. His guess was that it was done by a woman who was trying to get his attention.

“Well good luck with that, I’ll see you at home,” Dorian bid him farewell as he proceeded to go over to his car which had also stopped.

“Are you really leaving me here?” Christian asked in disbelief. “At least give me a ride in your car.”

“Nah, I’m not in the mood to be your chauffeur,” Dorian refused, his refusal being payback for all those times Christian annoyed him. “Good luck though and do not get yourself killed. On second thought, maybe you should. Bye,” he bid.

With that, Dorian walked over to his car and drove away, leaving Christian to his fate.

‘Bastard!’ Christian muttered under his breath as he watched Dorian drive away. “Step on it!” he growled at the driver and he started looking to see if he could find the woman behind what happened to his car.

Even though he had made it clear countless times that he wasn’t interested in a relationship, the women socialites didn’t seem to understand it as they kept on doing crazy things to get his attention.

From jumping in front of his moving car and pretending to faint while he was around them, it seemed there was no limit.

His mind took him back to when the elevator of a building he visited suddenly stopped working while he was in it alongside the daughter of the owner of the building.

His men had found out that nothing actually happened to the elevator and it was a ploy by the lady to see if she could get his attention and seduce him inside the elevator. Well, she did manage to get his attention as he made sure the building was shut down for being a safety hazard.

Just the other day, another lady hit his car from behind and tried to get his number in the pretence of needing it for the repairs, and now this? He was getting sick of all the idiots who didn’t understand that he wasn’t interested in them.

His suspicion was proven right when he noticed a woman coming out of the car that had just passed them.

‘Here we go,’ he scoffed inwardly as he glared at the woman who was making her way over to them. So she was the one behind his tyre puncturing. He wondered which family she belonged to as she didn’t look familiar

“Do you need any help?” the woman asked.

“No!” he answered coldly. “Now turn back and get the hell out of my sight!” he snapped in irritation, as he wasn’t ready to waste his time on her.
