Mabel was still making her way to the car when she felt something graze her arm, causing her to cry out in pain. When she looked at it, she saw her clothes had torn and her skin was very red.
She immediately turned and found the man pointing a gun at her with a crazy look in his eyes. This man was crazy! All she wanted to do was to help him and the asshole actually shot at her.“Are you crazy?!” She yelled at him.“I won’t be nice and miss next time. Apologize for puncturing my tyre,” Christian demanded.“You really haven’t gotten it through your thick skull that I didn’t puncture your tyre. It was a darn coincidence that I showed up,” Mabel scoffed as she stretched her hands towards Rufus.“You have five seconds to…” Christian couldn’t complete his words as he felt something graze his arm and he felt a slight pain. It all happened so fast that he didn’t see it coming. When he looked down, he saw a graze on his arm. She had actually shot him, well, grazed his skin but still.
“You’re lucky I missed at the last minute,” he heard her say, which made him raise his head to look at him. “Don’t glare at me. I basically grazed you like you grazed me,” she scoffed when she saw him glaring at her. She did the same thing he did to her, so they were on even terms.
She actually shot at him, was what was ringing in Christian’s head. He was no stranger to being shot, but this circumstance was shocking to him, even though the bullet had barely touched his skin.
He didn’t have any intention of shooting her, and he just wanted to scare her into apologizing, but the darn driver had a gun, which he gave to the woman. It seemed she wasn’t an ordinary woman, as she shot without hesitation and with precision, as she was able to make the bullet graze him without actually harming him.
“Sir, are you oka…” he heard his driver say, but he raised his hand for the driver to stop talking.
“You shot at me,” he said coldly. This was the first time a woman shot him, much less one he was just meeting for the first time.
“You also shot me,” Mabel retorted.
“I grazed you,” Christian corrected.
“It still equals being shot at,” Mabel shrugged casually. The next thing she saw was Christian raising his gun back at her, and she didn’t hesitate to point hers back at him.
Mabel felt grateful that she had secretly learnt how to fight and how to use a gun, as it proved very helpful in this situation. “See here’s the thing, you seem like a rich man and so, my life is nothing compared to yours. Are you willing to lose your life?”
“Many have tried to kill me but it’s not that easy. If it was, I’d be dead,” Christian retorted as he cocked his gun. He didn’t plan on shooting the woman earlier, but that plan flew out the window, the moment she pulled the damn trigger to scare him.
“So you plan on killing me?” Mabel raised an eyebrow as she also cocked her gun, ready to fire.
Rufus and Hank both held their breaths at this point as they wanted to see what would happen next between the two stubborn people. They were too scared to interfere, as they didn’t want to be at the receiving end of the bullet.
Meanwhile, Mabel and Christian stared fiercely at each other while trying to figure out what the other was thinking. Neither was ready to back down.
She hadn’t planned on shooting at him but the way he was arrogant reminded her of her father and brother which made her unable to hold herself back from actually shooting him as she imagined she was shooting either of the two men. Thankfully, she was able to come back to her senses and graze his arm, instead of actually shooting his arm.
Seeing that she wasn’t backing down, Christian lowered his gun, and so did Mabel. His eyes never left her, and hers didn’t leave him. He saw her eyes move to his gun and upon seeing it still in his hand, she gripped hers tightly.
A phone suddenly rang and this distracted Mabel as she turned to look at her driver who was getting his phone. Seeing that she was no longer paying attention to him, Christian took advantage of that opportunity, and he pointed his gun once again at her and pulled the trigger.
Mabel flinched when she noticed what had happened, and she froze, waiting for the pain to hit her. When a few seconds passed, and she felt none, she looked down at herself and saw that she wasn’t shot.
She raised her head in confusion to look at the crazy man. Did he miss again? She wondered, but she noticed him staring behind her. She followed his line of sight to the tyre of her car and to her horror, she saw he had shot at it.
“You asshole, this isn’t my car!” Mabel cursed in anger. Her father wouldn’t spare her for the damage done to his car, even though it wouldn’t dent his finances in the slightest.
“You punctured my car’s tyres and now, I’ve punctured yours,” Christian answered calmly. He saw anger in her eyes, and her chest heaved up and down. Good, now she knew how angry he felt.
“I didn’t fucking puncture your tyre, you fucking asshole!” Mabel yelled and as she did, she shot the two front tyres of Christian’s car.
“There, I finally did,” she exhaled as her eyes became watery due to her wanting to cry. She was already thinking of her punishment and it terrified her.
Christian turned to look at his deflated tyres, his blood boiling. He couldn’t remember the last time anyone openly challenged him like this. Was this her own game plan to get her to fall for him? He wondered.
Without thinking twice, he moved to shoot at the other back tyre of the car. However, the woman was already standing in front of it as she had envisioned his move.
Mabel was prepared to take the bullet as that would make her father reduce her punishment but Christian had other plans as he shot at the rear wind shield of the car. The glass shattered immediately, much to Mabel’s horror.
It was official, her father would kill her. Her entire face went red, and she pointed her gun at the crazy man’s head.
Damn the consequences, she was going to kill him. All she wanted to do was to help him and it had cost her so much. If she managed to survive this, she was never going to help anyone ever again. Not only would have father have her head for destroying the car he so ‘benevolently’ sent to pick her up, he would cremate her body and scatter her ashes.
Christian in return pointed his gun back at her, ready for whatever was to come. The next thing that happened, however, shocked him as tears started to drop from her eyes.
“I only wanted to help and look at what you’ve fucking done!” she yelled. “I swear, you’re going to regret this!”
“Mabel,” Rufus called when he realized that she was actually going to pull the trigger. He had been quiet, as it wasn’t in his place to intervene, but if he didn’t come in, her life would be ruined.
Eugene stared at the mansion which was built away from a residential area in the middle of nowhere which was swarming with guards and he squinted his eyes. His brother had to be very foolish if he thought he didn't keep an eye on him even while outside the country. There was no property his brother brought that he didn't know about and that included those that weren't even bought in George's name.He was standing in one of such mansions and he chuckled when he saw the guards as if they would stop him from getting his hands on George.“Dad, please get a move on it!” He heard Mabel say to him through the earpiece that was shoved in his ear.His children as well as Christian had wanted to come along but he refused as this was something he wanted to do by himself. It was a score only brother-to-brother could settle.Seeing as they wanted in on the action, he settled for attaching a camera to himself so they could see what was going on.Hearing how Mabel was impatient, he nodded to his ri
Eugene paced around the room as he waited for the asshole to be brought in. The bastard had dared to treat his daughter like that? He would make him pay for the rest of his pathetic life. The door opened and he came face to face with the bastard. The guard nodded to him after which he closed the door.“Who are you?” Anthony squinted his eyes at Eugene who immediately closed the gap before them and landed a punch to the former's face.“Are you crazy?” Anthony roared as he moved to attack Eugene.Eugene easily dodged and he landed another punch on Anthony. This time, to the gut.“That is nothing compared to the hell you put my daughter through for the last sixteen years,” Eugen growled and the realization hit Anthony.“Eugene Lansley and it's not a pleasure to meet you,” He said as he lifted Anthony and threw him against the table.“Guards!” Anthony called when he realized he wasn't against the man who was allegedly Mabel's father.“You decided to punish my daughter because your fragil
Kate then smiled at her and she smiled back. Mabel felt Christian rub her fingers and when he turned to look at him, he had a smile on his face as he was happy that they had sorted out their differences.Mabel and his mother were the two most important women in his life and he was happy they had found a way to co-exist. “I'm going to kill him,” they suddenly heard Eugen roar. Everyone at the table with the exception of Mabel immediately got up to see what the commotion was all about. When Christian noticed that she wasn't following, he immediately came back and dragged her away from her seat.“What happened?” Mabel heard Reginald ask when they got to where Eugene was. He was currently heading out of their mansion but he stopped upon hearing Reginald speak.“Check your phone, George has made his move,” Eugene told George. He had been in the middle of catching up with Dorian when he got a call from his men asking him to check his phone and when he did, his blood boiled when he saw the
Dorian didn't like how Pauline blamed herself and so he decided to hug her to assure her that he wasn't mad. It wasn't her fault and people dealt with grief differently. He didn't want to imagine what would have gone on in her head after losing her second child. “I'm so sorry, honey,” Pauline apologized as she hugged Dorian back. All those years of suffering immediately vanished from her head as she held her son. Her mind took her to when he was pregnant with him and how he had troubled her by keeping her up late at night. She remembered the first time he kicked her and how she had been so excited to see him. She had been so happy that she got a son as she won the bet against Eugene who prayed for a daughter, one that would look like her while she wanted a mini Eugene.“It’s not your fault,” Dorian stated. If there was one thing the accident that almost claimed his life had taught him, it was that life was too short for him to delay accepting his parents who had already been throu
When Mabel opened her eyes, she saw that it was already morning and when she turned to look at Christian, she saw that he was not beside her and when she touched the bed, it was cold. She immediately picked up her phone to see if he had left a message and sure enough he had. He informed her that he was going to visit George’s mansion as the bastard had gone into hiding. Her eyes darkened when she remembered what George had attempted to do to her had Christian not shown up. As violated as she felt, Christian had made her feel better by holding her in his arms till she fell asleep. Thoughts about Dorian and the two people who were claiming to be her parents rang in her head but she pushed them to the back of her head as she wasn’t playing when she said they weren’t her parents, nor Dorian her brother. Her stomach growled, reminding her of the fact that she didn’t have dinner or lunch the previous day. Without wasting time, she quickly brushed her teeth and headed down to have whatever
Dorian turned to look at the woman who had fallen asleep beside him, which was the reason why he had asked to watch a movie in the first place. He had known that she would be too worried, and he didn’t want that.He gently made her lie on the bed, after which he covered her up. Taking one last look at her, he headed out of the room and gently closed the door behind him.Without wasting time, he headed straight to the liquor room and when he got there, he stopped in his tracks when he saw Christian already seated down and he already had a glass in his hands.“I’ve been waiting for you,” Christian stated as he tapped the other glass he had brought out. “How’s Mabel?” Dorian inquired as he went to sit beside Christian.“She’s sleeping,” Christian answered as he poured a drink for Dorian. “What about Nala?” “Sleeping as well.” Dorian didn’t waste any time in gulping down the contents of the glass. “A lot has happened,” Christian sighed as it still felt surreal to know that his brother
