SEINNA'S POV

I sat beside my mum's hospital bed, watching the machines beep steadily while the latest stack of bills burned a hole in my bag.

The company scandal had wiped out everything and now, investors had vanished overnight and the debt kept piling higher.

My mum's heart was failing faster now, and the doctors kept repeating the same thing, surgery soon or we would lose her. I had sold what little personal property that I could but nothing worked.

My phone lit up with an unknown number and I stepped into the hallway to answer.

"Miss Calloway, this is Damien. I need you in my office in thirty minutes. It's about saving your family. Don't be late."

He hung up even before I could ask questions. I kissed my mum's forehead, told the nurse I'd be back soon, and drove across town with my stomach in knots.

The office building was all glass and steel, the kind that screamed old money. Damien met me in the lobby and led me straight to a conference room without small talk.

"Sienna, the Aries family has offered a merger," he said, sliding a thick folder across the polished table. "It will clear every debt, fund your mother's full treatment, and keep the company alive but there's one condition."

I opened the folder and froze at the first page. It was a marriage contract with my name next to Lucian Aries.

"You've got to be kidding me," I said, my voice sharp and steady. "Our families have been tearing each other apart for decades. Now they want me to marry their heir?"

Damien didn't flinch. "It's not a real marriage. It's just one year of public appearances and joint business decisions. After twelve months, you walk away with everything settled. Sign today and the first payments hit the accounts tonight."

I stared at the paper until the words blurred. My mum's pale face in that bed kept flashing in my mind, Asher trying to hold the company together alone and the empty bank statements.

"What do they have to gain?" I have been in the business world far to long to think a thing is done for free.

"It's a win-win situation for both sides. They need more trust from their investors."

“And being married to me solves that?”

“I believe,” Damien replied.

The door behind me opened. I turned and there he was, Lucian Aries. He was tall with broad shoulders. He was wearing a black suit. His dark hair was neat, his jaw sharp, and those gray eyes looked at me like he was already calculating my worth.

"Miss Calloway," he said, in a low tone. He didn't even smile. "Let's not waste time. Please, sit."

I stood on my feet. "I prefer to stand while I'm being sold off."

He raised an eyebrow slightly and that was the only reaction I got from him. He took the chair at the head of the table and motioned for Damien to leave us. Damien hesitated, before he then stepped out.

Lucian leaned back. "The board and investors want proof of unity and a marriage provides that. One year, then we will dissolve it cleanly."

I crossed my arms. "And in that year I just smile for the cameras and pretend I don't hate everything about this?"

"Exactly. We share the mansion so the staff can confirm we're living together. We attend events together. We make decisions on the merged companies together but behind closed doors, we will stay out of each other's lives. No touching and no feelings.”

I laughed once, short and bitter. "You really think you can control every part of this, don't you? Walk in here, lay down the rules, and expect me to nod like a good little wife."

He studied me for a long moment. "Most people don't speak to me the way you just did. I find it... interesting."

"Interesting?" I stepped closer to the table. "My mother is fighting for her life in a hospital bed right now. My family's legacy is about to disappear because of a scandal we didn't cause and you're sitting there talking about interesting. This is my life you're playing with, Lucian."

"I know exactly what's at stake. My grandfather made this condition non-negotiable. I need the merger as much as you do. The Aries name carries weight, but recent market shifts have made alliances necessary. This marriage buys us time and trust."

I picked up the pen. My hand shook. "One year and not a single day more. The moment the contract ends, I never want to see you again."

"Agreed." He slid his own copy over. "But understand this, Sienna. While we're married, you represent my family. Any mistakes reflect on both of us. I won't tolerate public embarrassment or reckless behavior."

I signed with a hard scratch of the pen. "And I won't tolerate being treated like an employee. I have ideas for the company, good ones. If you shut me out, this whole thing crumbles."

He signed after me, his handwriting bold and precise. "We'll see how well your ideas hold up in actual meetings. Most people who challenge me learn quickly that it's a mistake."

I stood up straight. "I'm not most people."

Lucian rose too, and for a second we were close enough that I had to tilt my head to meet his eyes. He smelled like expensive cologne and quiet power.

"No," he said quietly. "You're not. That might make this year more tolerable than I expected."

Damien came back in with more documents. "The engagement announcement goes out tomorrow morning. Miss Calloway, a car will pick you up in the afternoon to move your things to the mansion. Lucian has already arranged the best cardiac team for your mother and surgery is scheduled for the day after tomorrow."

I nodded, feeling a bit relieved. "Thank you for that part, at least."

Lucian walked me to the door. "One more thing. My ex, Vivienne, may cause noise when this hits the press, ignore it. She's not part of this deal."

I looked back at him. "As long as she stays out of my way, I don't care who you used to sleep with."

His mouth twitched like he almost smiled. "Good. See you at home, wife."

The word hit me like a slap but I walked out without answering.

  • Forced to Marry My Enemy    THOUGHTS ON A JOURNEY

Sienna POV The morning sunlight slipped through the curtains and landed softly across my face, warm enough to disturb my heavy sleep. I groaned quietly, twisting deeper into the sheets before stretching my arms above my head, my body still sore and tired in places I didn’t want to think about. For a few seconds, I let myself stay there, suspended between sleep and waking, where nothing hurt and nothing had to be remembered. Then I slowly opened my eyes and nearly jumped out of my mind. I jerked back against the bed when I found Adrian standing beside it, arms folded across his chest, looking down at me like he had been there for a while. He broke into a wide grin immediately. “Morning, beautiful.” I stared at him for a second before letting out a small, sleepy chuckle, rubbing my knuckles against my eyes like I could erase the sleep completely. “Morning, Adrian,” I muttered, my voice still thick with sleep. He shook his head, amused. “It is almost twelve noon,” he said. “At

  • Forced to Marry My Enemy    BLOODLINE AND BETRAYAL

Lucian POV “I did you a favour, Lucian. A huge favour!” I stared at my grandfather like I had never truly seen him before. For years, I had mistaken control for care. I had convinced myself that his coldness was discipline, that his cruelty was wisdom, that every decision he forced on me was for the good of the family, the company, the legacy but standing there now, hearing him speak about Sienna like she was some inconvenience to be removed, something disposable, I realized something terrifying. He had never cared about me. He cared about ownership, about power, about bloodlines and signatures and family names carved into buildings. “You met with her?” I repeated slowly, my voice low and dangerous. “You cornered my wife while I was too blind to see what was happening, and you call that a favor?” His expression remained calm, almost irritated by my reaction. “Yes,” he said firmly. “Because someone had to protect what you were too weak to protect yourself from.” I laughed then,

  • Forced to Marry My Enemy    SOLACE

Sienna POV “Dad, you’re too slow!” I shouted over my shoulder, laughing so hard my stomach hurt. Behind me, my father laughed loudly as he chased after me, his footsteps heavy on purpose like he was pretending to be some giant monster and I was his tiny prey trying to escape. “Come back here, little thief!” he called between laughs. “You stole my biscuit!” “You said I could have it!” I yelled back, running even faster. “I changed my mind!” He teased, still chasing after me. “Goodness, you are only eight but you run so fast!” I laughed harder and kept running deeper into the field, past the old tree and farther into the tall grass where my mother always warned me not to go but I was too happy to care. I turned briefly to look behind me, still smiling, still laughing, and that was when the ground disappeared beneath my feet. A scream tore from my throat as I fell. The pit had been covered with dry hay and weak branches, hidden so well I never saw it, causing me to land so hard

  • Forced to Marry My Enemy    NOWHERE LEFT TO GO

Sienna POV I wanted to be away from everyone. It hurts more to be with anyone than to be alone. So, I hid in the hospital's storage room while I heard the hurried footsteps outside the hospital walls, looking for me. While they tried every possible means, including checking the CCTV, the steps eventually subsided, reducing to just typical hospital movement. I had probably passed out from exhaustion, but the time seemed far spent. I stared at the screen of my phone, trying to see if I could call anyone, but I literally had no one to call. Not even Lucian could be called right now. Not him. I checked the time and it was 9:30 pm. I had been inside here for hours, crouched down inside one of the huge cartons discarded in the storage room, my body folded into itself like I was trying to disappear completely. I felt numb. No tears rolled down my face anymore. I had cried too much lately, too many times, and now there was nothing left. I was exhausted. Too exhausted. My mind juggled ba

  • Forced to Marry My Enemy    THE COST OF EVERYTHING

Lucian POV It had been almost two weeks since I last heard from Sienna, and the silence was slowly driving me to a place I didn’t recognize anymore, a place where nothing made sense and nothing felt worth holding onto. I stood in the middle of my office, staring down at the tablet in my hand, my reflection faintly visible on the dark screen as numbers and charts blurred together in a way that made my chest tighten with every passing second. Everything was falling apart. Not gradually, not in a way I could control or manage, but all at once, like something had snapped beneath the surface and dragged everything down with it. The company’s chart had dropped drastically, the once steady rise now replaced with sharp, unforgiving dips that told a story I didn’t want to accept. Petitions were flying in from different departments, complaints stacked on complaints, and employees were leaving faster than I could even process. Investors were pulling out quietly at first, then not so quietly

  • Forced to Marry My Enemy    DOWN AND DAWN

Sienna POV A week had passed, and I was still at the hospital, though the atmosphere around me had softened in a way that almost made it feel like I had stepped into a different version of my life where pain wasn’t constantly sitting at the edge of everything. My mother sat on the chair beside my bed peeling an apple carefully, the skin falling in long curls onto a small plate as she focused like it was the most important task in the world, while Asher sat near the window with one leg crossed over the other, scrolling through his phone with a relaxed expression that made him look almost normal for once. My bed was slightly raised now, my back supported by pillows so I wasn’t fully lying down anymore, as I took a bite of the apple my mother had insisted I finish before she even considered listening to any of my complaints. The room felt almost like home in a strange way, and for a few minutes, I let myself sink into it. I looked at Asher from across the room, chewing slowly before

Sienna POVThat morning, after confirming he completed his therapy exercises, I surprised myself by canceling every meeting on my schedule. We stayed in bed together, curled up under the duvet. His arm rested around my waist while my head lay against his chest, and for a long time neither of us sp

  • Forced to Marry My Enemy    THE EDGE

Lucian POVThe restaurant went quiet the moment I stepped inside. Not completely quiet, but the kind of quietness that spreads when attention shifts without permission. The whole conversations in there seemed to be lowered while the cutleries slowed and a few heads turned but none of that mattered.

  • Forced to Marry My Enemy    CROSSED LINE

Sienna POVTwo weeks had passed. Two weeks of careful routines, quiet breakfasts, and conversations that hovered safely around business but never touched the rule we broke nor the night at his grandfather’s mansion.Life inside the mansion had settled into something almost normal, though the word f
