Edrick’s POV

I just sat there for a moment, staring at the screen long after Adrian ended the call. My fingers were still curled around the phone, stiff, like my hand refused to move. My chest felt tight. My father. Unconscious. Everything inside me twisted with worry, fear, and anger all mixed together.

I was still trying to gather myself when I heard her soft steps.

Aria walked back into the room with a small towel in her hand, drying her hair. Her smile hit me first. Warm. Bright. Effortless. It almost knocked the air out of my lungs because I knew within the next few seconds, that smile would disappear.

“Why do you look like that?” she asked and walked closer. “Everything okay?”

I swallowed. “You should get ready. We are leaving.”

She froze. “Leaving? Leaving where?”

“The island.” My voice sounded rough. “The honeymoon here is over.”

“Oh.” She blinked, a tiny smile forming again. “So we are going to continue with the Europe trip? The tour you talked about?”

A heavy feeling sank de

Edrick’s POV I shouldn’t have come here. The bar smelled like sweat, stale beer, and desperation. the kind of place where people drank to forget, not to celebrate. Perfect for me, I guess. I picked it because it was buried deep in a poor neighborhood where no one would recognize me. No uniforms. No expectations. No father breathing down my neck about how I’d “risked the family name.”God, the way he spoke to me today… it keeps ringing in my head.Reckless. Irresponsible. Endangering the family. Is that really what he thinks of me? After everything I’ve done? After everything I sacrificed to get this far? After risking my damn life to drag Leonardo into custody? Not even a simple well done, Edrick.No. Just blame.I took another gulp from the glass, wincing as the alcohol burned my throat. I was never a drinker, but lately… alcohol understood me more than anyone else did.I stared into the amber liquid, drowning in it, when a shadow fell across my table.A girl.Silky brown hair. Gre

CHAPTER 67 — ALINA’S POVThe minute I stepped out of the embassy, the heat slapped me across the face like it owed me money. The sun was ridiculous, sharp, blinding, burning into my skin. I hissed under my breath, but I didn’t take a cab. I couldn’t. Not anymore. If I was going to survive six whole months stuck in this miserable country before my visa could finally be processed, then every coin mattered. Every cab ride mattered. Every unnecessary expense mattered.I tightened my grip around my small bag and kept walking.Six months.Six months of hiding. Six months of hoping my father wouldn’t sniff me out and humiliate me, punish me for not leaving even though it isn’t my fault. Six months of trying to rebuild a life everyone had gleefully destroyed. Everyone, including me.Just great. The embassy’s gate closed behind me with a soft metallic click. I walked farther down the quiet road, my foot hitting a small stone, my mind drowning in its usual spiral: Where will I stay? How lon

EDRICK’S POVI woke up to the taste of alcohol still burning the back of my throat. Again. The sunlight stabbed through the curtains of my office like it had a personal vendetta against me. My head pounded, my eyes heavy, my chest tight.I checked the time.10:07 AM.And I was already halfway through a bottle of whiskey.Pathetic.I dragged the bottle closer and poured another glass, my hand shaking slightly. Maybe if I drank enough, the memories would shut up. the laughter, banters, the look in her eyes when I make love to her. Alina. I didn’t even know which one haunted me more anymore. The door opened sharply.Adrian stepped in, froze, and his expression immediately twisted into disgust.“Are you serious right now?” he asked, slamming the door behind him. “It’s ten in the morning, Edrick.”I lifted the glass lazily. “I’m aware.”“No, you’re not,” he snapped, marching straight to my desk and snatching the bottle out of my reach. “Because if you were aware, you’d realize how stupid

CHAPTER 65 – ALINAI dragged myself up from the couch, still wearing yesterday’s clothes, still feeling like yesterday’s trash. I didn’t want to go outside, but I had no choice. I had to do something, anything, before my life caved in completely.I opened my door… and crashed straight into someone.Great. Perfect. Just what I needed.I stumbled back, ready to snap, but the moment my eyes adjusted and I saw her face,My heart dropped.Becca.My ex–best friend. Her curly hair was pinned back the same way she used to wear it when she’d come sleep over at my place and steal my snacks. Same soft, innocent eyes. Same girl I trusted for years. Same girl who slept with Jason behind my back.I frowned instantly.“Alina… please,” she whispered, reaching for me. “Let’s talk.”I jerked my arm back like her touch burned. “Don’t touch me, Becca.”Her face fell. “I know. I know I messed up. What I did was horrible,”“Horrible?” I laughed. That word was too modest.I narrowed my eyes at her. “You nee

CHAPTER 64 – EDRICKThree days.Three exhausting, miserable days of pretending I was fine. Three days of staying late at the office, drowning myself in work because the alternative was going home to a life that didn’t belong to me. Three days of dragging myself back to a mansion that felt wrong. Three days of missing a woman who deceived me.Three days since the humiliation that shook my entire existence.I hated it.I hated how it felt.I hated that Aria and Alina looked the same, and yet everything inside me reacted differently to them.I hated that the woman carrying my child, my child, was not the one my heart kept reaching for like a damn fool. And I hated Alina for that. For the betrayal. For the lies. For making me feel this pathetic, this torn, this… broken.I drove home long after midnight, the streets quiet, the world peaceful in a way my mind refused to be. My hands tightened on the steering wheel each time her face flashed in my head, her tears, her voice, her stupid stubb

  • Forced to Marry my Sister’s Fiancée    Exile

ALINA’S POV Three days.Three miserable, silent, lonely days since the humiliation that ripped every piece of my life apart. I hadn’t spoken to anyone, not Edric, after that call, not Aria, not my mother or father, not even the neighbours I usually avoid. I had no one. No friend. No shoulder. No voice in my corner.Just me.And two days left before I officially became homeless. The apartment felt smaller every morning, like the walls were closing in. My fridge was empty except for half-expired milk, noodles, and cereal. That had been breakfast, lunch, and dinner for three days. My bank account was a joke, barely enough for transport and cheap food. Certainly not enough for rent or a new place to stay.Every morning, I cried. Every night, I cried even harder. My eyes were so swollen I barely recognized myself in the mirror. I looked like someone's life had chewed up and spat out.I missed everything. I missed my old life. I missed before the lies before the wedding before my parents
