LOGINSienna's POV
I smooch at the shiny oven door, staring into the mirror. I used to look heavier, but now my face looks softer than it did before. I had not seen such a small smile in ages.Liam suddenly slipped my mind. His eyes remained vividly in the memory of his farewell. Something that I hadn't seen often before had a genuine authenticity to it. His head was gently lowered, his tie was changed and sometimes I could see him staring at me. The man's gaze was not a cold stare, but aSienna's POV When the door to the car closed, I immediately leant my head against the backrest of the seat and sighed.I was just so very tired of everything that had been happening lately, though physically I felt just fine.My marriage. My relations with Liam. My suspicions. And the tears which seemed to run non-stop during the last couple of days.Closing my eyes, I thought about the fact that Liam had tried to speak with me once again today, telling me to hear his explanation, but I refused. And not because I hated him. Actually, the truth was that I still loved him.But I was afraid. Scared of something that could destroy the remaining trust towards him.Opening my eyes, I looked straight at the road and whispered to myself, "Why did everything become like this?"And then I remembered one thing. Joshua. Our agreement. Ten o'clock in the morning in front of the bank.Looking at the time on the dashboard clock of my car, I understood tha
Liam's POV Sienna's hand froze while she put her wallet inside, but she did not turn towards me. "I know that you are angry, I know that you are disappointed, but listen to my explanation, please."Sienna breathed deeply. "Liam." She finally turned towards me, and I felt my chest constricted. There was no anger in her eyes. Only tiredness."I can't." I stopped, trying to find something to say."I truly can't listen to anything right now." I wanted to argue, but she cut me off."But.""My heart is not ready." These words left me stunned.Sienna lowered her head. "Last night, I tried to sleep, but each time I closed my eyes, I heard you calling me 'Honey'."I sighed. "I can explain.""I know." She looked at me. "Perhaps, it will make sense."I was quite surprised. "Then.""But I'm not ready to listen right now."I fell silent.Sienna continued. "I am scared that I will start crying if I listen to you now. I do not want
Liam's POV As I stood in front of the bedroom door, my head was pounding. Sienna wouldn't open the door nor listen to any of my explanations, and to be honest, I really didn't know what to do.I rubbed my face in frustration. "Damn." I couldn't imagine that this tiny problem would become this big issue, especially when I knew for sure who had called me before.Kevin is one of my employees. He had called to ask me about our next project, since there were lots of details to be clarified before tomorrow's meeting. But from the point of view of Sienna, I could perfectly understand why everything seemed in a completely different way. At least, since the last few weeks.I traveled out of town quite often, returned home very late, and failed to call her regularly. What was the worst of all – the name of Wilona sounded too many times in our conversation.I closed my eyes, trying to figure out how to explain everything. I remembered that just seconds ago, before Sien
Sienna's POVIt had barely gotten dark outside by the time I reached home. It had been one very long day indeed. After leaving the book store, running into Joshua, dropping him off at the pharmacy and handling some affairs of the foundation, I was absolutely exhausted. I slowly opened the front door and felt that the house was strangely silent.I placed my bag on the table in the entrance area and stepped inside. But I couldn't take more than a couple of steps when I stopped.Liam was sleeping on the sofa. I watched him from a distance and felt that he must have gotten home just recently. His jacket had been taken off and thrown carelessly on the back of the chair. His slightly wrinkled shirt and messed up hair confirmed that he was exhausted. And so was his face. He had very dark rings under his eyes that I could see clearly.I did not know for how long he had been asleep. For some reason, the sight of him sleeping there caused some kind of pain to come
Sienna's POV I smiled faintly. "Is it obvious?”"Very."I turned my gaze to the medicine bag in my hands. The children at the foundation, Rafa who had a fever before and Noah who always came to me when he had some trouble entered my mind once more. That was perhaps the reason why the sight of Joshua in such a state made it hard for me to leave without doing anything. He seemed so much like that person that I had once wanted so desperately to protect.I raised my head. "Joshua.""Yes, Ma'am?""If you can't afford that fifty million," I paused to make sure he was listening well enough. "then, what will happen?"Joshua's expression turned instantly serious. "They will confiscate all of my belongings.""What else?"He gulped. "If I still can't pay," He fell silent for a few seconds. "Then, they threatened that I won't be able to continue my education anymore."My chest tightened. "Are you still intending to do everything by yourself?"Jos
Sienna's POV We had just left the pharmacy when Joshua suddenly pointed at a park bench right in front of the book shop."Let's sit for a while, Ma'am."I nodded and we slowly went towards the bench. I was holding a plastic bag of medicine and my other purchases as Joshua walked next to me with one hand holding his side. When we finally arrived in front of the bench, I immediately sat down. Joshua sat beside me carefully and I looked at his face. There was still a visible bruise on his cheek while the corner of his lip was slightly swollen."Joshua.""Yes?""Are you really sure you don't want to go to the hospital?"He shook his head. "That's not necessary, Ma'am. It's normal for me."Immediately, I frowned. "Normal?"Joshua only gave me a small smile and I dislike hearing those words from him as no one should consider being beaten up as something normal."Why did they beat you?"Joshua was silent. He clasped both of his hands and
