I reached into my pocket and took out my phone. My fingers paused above Sienna’s chat. I wanted to call her, hear her voice, tell her I missed her, and make sure she was okay.

But I knew if I called right now, my voice would sound like a mess.

If Sienna heard that, she would ask questions.

She would get suspicious.

She would start remembering again all the rumors, all the wounds, all the days when she felt like she wasn’t enough.
