Sienna’s POV

The basket was nearly full. He gripped the handle firmly and walked toward the cashier with a casual ease, as if we weren’t two people trying hard to keep our distance. As if we weren’t two people divided by too many wounds and too many unsaid words.

I followed him in silence. Not because I had nothing to say, but because of… that smile. That small smile he gave me earlier. It wasn’t triumphant, nor was it the bitter smile he used to wear when we fought. It wasn’t the fake smile he put on when trying to be the perfect husband, either.

It was genuine. Gentle. Warm. And for some reason, it hit me like a blow to the chest.

In all the years I lived with him, I could count on one hand the times Liam had truly smiled at me like that. And today… in a random little minimarket I never thought he’d step into, he gave me that smile—without a reason, without a burden.

I don’t know why… but I wanted to cry.

At the cashier, he paid for all the snacks and drin

Sienna’s POV Liam nodded slowly. “It’s been a while. I… didn’t tell you—not because I wanted to hide it, but because you chose to walk away. And I felt you deserved peace, without being dragged into my past.”I didn’t know whether to feel relieved or more confused. I had imagined him happy all this time, living a better life—maybe with someone who could give him what I couldn’t. But now, that image was crumbling piece by piece.“Why didn’t you say anything?” I asked, my voice sharper than I intended. He gave a small, bitter smile. “Because you never gave me a chance to speak.”I fell silent. And he was right. I had shut every door. I disappeared, created distance on purpose just so I could heal. But somehow, tonight, everything started resurfacing. Wounds I had worked so hard to close… reopened.“I don’t know what to say,” I admitted quietly. “I’m not done sorting through my own feelings.”Liam nodded, gently. “I’m not asking you to know. Or to forgi

Sienna’s POV Instant noodles—hardly a special meal. But in a world already too complicated, sometimes all we need is something simple to make things feel a little better. Something like food we could quietly share, without all the weight of emotions hanging overhead.Liam took his spoon, scooped up some noodles, and took a bite. “Mmm, this is good,” he said, though softly. His smile wasn’t wide, but at least it was genuine—not forced.I stared at the bowl in front of me, trying to focus on the spicy taste on my tongue, but I knew my mind wasn’t really there. Every time I glanced at Liam, I felt an emptiness I couldn’t explain—like a part of me still wanted him there, and another part was desperately trying to keep its distance. Especially after we’d been apart for so long.Liam looked calmer than he used to. The nervousness that often clouded his face seemed to be gone. In fact, he seemed a little more at ease. I didn’t know if it was because we hadn’t talked in a w

Sienna’s POVI squeezed the edge of the towel I was using to dry my hair. I should’ve left him at the bus stop. But if he got sick, I knew I would end up blaming myself more. When Liam stepped out of the bathroom in clean clothes, his hair still half damp, he looked a little better. But still, there was something in his face. Something I couldn’t ignore—sadness. Regret. Maybe… hope. But I didn’t want to guess. I was already tired enough.“You can order a cab once the rain stops,” I said shortly, then walked to the kitchen to make some hot tea.He didn’t respond, just sat quietly on the couch. Maybe he understood that tonight wasn’t the time for conversation. And somehow, that silence only made everything feel even quieter. The apartment felt unusually still, filled only by the ticking of the wall clock in the corner of the room. I sat at the small table near the window, leaning back in my chair, watching Liam sitting stiffly on the sofa, even though

Sienna’s POV I exhaled—not out of anger, but because I genuinely didn’t know what to say.“You know, Liam…” my voice trembled slightly as I replied, “the hardest part of leaving someone isn’t the memories. It’s the lingering feelings that keep whispering, ‘what if this time is different?’”He lowered his gaze, staring at the tips of his shoes now wet from the rain seeping in.“I’m not asking you to come back,” he said. “I know I’m not someone who deserves a second chance. But if you ever need a safe place—just to be quiet… I can be that. Not as your husband. Just as someone you once trusted.”His words were like the rain itself—cold, calming, but leaving my heart soaked with unspoken emotion.I gripped the shopping bag in my hands tightly. Still silent. Still trying to distinguish between what was real and what was only surfacing because I was tired. The rain kept falling, creating a chaotic rhythm on the shelter’s roof. I could hear my own breathing—hea

Sienna’s POV Out of all the places in this city, I never thought I’d run into Liam… here. A small convenience store on the outskirts of town that wasn’t even on my map when I first decided to pull away. I chose this place on purpose—because it was remote, far from the city center, far from office buildings, far from anything that could remind me of the past.Including him.I thought I’d gotten good at avoiding. I thought if I chose a quieter path, my life would become quieter too. But it turns out… pain has a way of finding you. Even through the narrow aisle of a tiny store filled with bottled drinks and children’s snacks. My heart was pounding the moment I saw him. Liam. Still in his work suit, tie slightly loosened, and his eyes—that gaze that made me feel fragile again. I froze. The lemon juice I meant to buy became a mere excuse to hide my shock.“Are you following me?” I asked sharply—not because I truly believed he was, but because I needed armor. I n
