Sunlight streamed through the wooden blinds, casting warm rays across the spacious apartment. Roger stirred, rubbing the sleep from his eyes and blinking away the haze. He scanned the room for the woman who had shared his bed.

His phone buzzed twice, flashing a reminder: Meeting at 2 PM.

Business waited for no one.

Roger exhaled, stretched his arms, then called out softly, “Alexa…”

Silence.

He tried again, louder this time. “Alexa?”

Still nothing. He frowned, tossing the blanket aside—only to spot a faint stain on the sheets. Blood.

His lips curved into a slow smile. ‘So she was a virgin… Innocent. Pure. And yet, last night she gave herself to me.’ His thoughts darkened, amusement flickering in his eyes. ‘Adorable. Seductive. Irresistible. She’s far more interesting than I imagined.’

He picked up his phone again, scrolling through WhatsApp and SMS. Nothing. No word from her.

His brows drew together. ‘So she left me just like that? After everything?’

Leaning back, his smirk returned fa

"Hey, Mr. Jenkins, how are you? Weren't we supposed to meet the day after tomorrow? What brings you here today?" Roger asked with a light laugh, gesturing for Joshua to take a seat.Although a hint of jealousy stirred in Roger whenever Joshua was around, he forced himself to remain professional. After all, Joshua was not only a trusted business partner but also a brilliant entrepreneur who had built multiple thriving companies."I apologize, Mr. Davenier, for coming earlier than planned," Joshua began. "But in a few days, I'll be flying overseas, and I need to prepare everything beforehand. That's why I thought it would be better to see you today."Roger nodded, understanding. "Your business must be expanding rapidly, I see."Joshua chuckled and waved his hand modestly. "Not really. You know how it is-it's a family business that's been running for years. Now the responsibility falls on me, so the demands are just part of the job. I have to be here, there, and everywhere. Oh, and Mr. D

Alexandra quickly shook her head. No! She had never felt anything for Joshua. Yes, he was kind. Yes, he was handsome—almost as much as Roger. But her heart had never stirred for him.“No. I’ve never been interested in Mr. Jenkins. He’s a good man, handsome too. But I don’t have feelings for him,” she answered firmly.Relief washed over Roger. He couldn’t imagine Alexandra loving Joshua instead.“Then what is it?”This time, Alexandra lifted her gaze to meet his directly.“It’s not that your family isn’t worthy of me, Sir. It’s that I’m not worthy of your family. I’m not someone you should fight for.”Her lips trembled as she bit them, her fingers twisting the hem of her blouse. Tears spilled freely now. Fear gripped her, but Roger deserved the truth.“Will you listen to my story?” she asked quietly.Roger nodded instantly.“Yes. Tell me. What do I need to know?” he urged, his heart surging with hope that she was finally opening up to him.“Since I was a child, I’ve never known who my

"Do you own your own company?" Elisa asked.Joshua nodded with a polite smile."Yes, Ma'am. One of my companies works in partnership with Mr. Davenier's," he explained.Elisa let out a soft "Oh." Her thoughts drifted briefly to the past-her own father had once owned an import–export company, but after falling ill, the business collapsed. The loss had eventually taken his life too. They continued chatting pleasantly over dinner. When it was time to pay, Joshua insisted on covering the bill, no matter how much Alexandra tried to argue. He also refused to let them take a rideshare home since it was late and they were carrying several shopping bags."I can't just let the two of you go home like this. Please, let me drive you," he said firmly, leaving Alexandra with no choice but to agree. At the house, Elisa warmed up to Joshua even more. She insisted he stay for a moment and quickly made him a cup of hot tea."I'm sorry, I only have tea and a few simple snacks," she said apologetically.

"Can you work late tonight, Alexa?" Roger asked casually over lunch.Alexandra blinked. In the two months she had been his secretary, Roger Davenier had never once asked her to stay late."What's going on, Sir?" she asked cautiously."We're entertaining a client," he explained, his tone calm but firm. "This deal is worth hundreds of millions. If we close it, Victory goes international. We can't afford mistakes. It'll just be a drink or two."Her lips pressed together. With stakes that high, how could she possibly refuse?"...Alright."That evening, Roger's luxury sedan glided through Jakarta's night traffic, heading south toward one of the most exclusive rooftop bars in the city. Their American client-flying home tomorrow-was eager to make his last night unforgettable."I like this place," Roger remarked smoothly."Then I'll trust your taste," the man replied with a grin.Alexandra, calm and fluent, handled the little details-ordering, translating, keeping the mood light. “Have you had lunch yet?” Diana asked, tilting her head.“N-not yet.”“Perfect. I haven’t either. Let’s eat together. Don’t worry, Mr. Davenier won’t get mad—as long as you keep your phone on,” Diana said with a warm smile.Truthfully, Diana had another reason. She wanted to spend some time with the girl who had somehow lasted this long as Roger’s secretary. Normally, no one survived more than a few weeks under his arrogance and sharp tongue. But Alexandra… she was different. She was tougher than she looked.Roger’s father had been the same—cold, distant, and utterly uninterested in women. Perhaps Roger had inherited more than just his sharp features from the man.Diana looped her arm through Alexandra’s and gave her a playful wink. Seeing Diana’s bright smile, Alexandra finally felt reassured. Her boss would survive without her for just one meal.Victory’s office building stretched seven stories high. The cafeteria was tucked on the first floor, reserved for employees only and run by
