Thorned Crown

The road to the Pack house felt longer than I had ever imagined, each mile carving away the life I once knew. The carriage rattled violently over potholes and broken stone, iron bridles beside me,the sound made me feel unright. Kellan’s presence filled the small space within I and him. The shift of his shoulder, the quiet intensity in his gaze, the warmth of his thigh brushing me whenever the carriage lurched.

“You’re quiet,” he said at last

“I’m thinking,” I replied. “About the Alpha, about Rowan.”

His hand closed gently over mine, firm enough to ground, not enough to cage. “Do not let thoughts of him weaken you.”

How could I not?

When the pack house finally rose into view, it did not look anything like home. It looked like an exiled land. Towers pierced the sky like spears, smoke curling between them. The walls were too high, too thick - built to keep something out… or keep something in.

The carriage stopped before black-and-silver guards whose eyes lingered, looking down at me too long. I felt small beneath their gaze - maybe I was..

Inside, the pack was gold and stone and suffocating perfection. Servants moved like ghosts, nobles whispered behind jeweled hands. Every glance felt threatening, every smile, same thing. I had been named a ward of the Alpha,, but I still felt like the forsaken Omega they spat my name for pleasure

“The King has heard of your… mercy,” the envoy said during my reception.

Mercy. The word had once meant kindness. Here, it sounded like leverage.

....

I'd survived the first two days by speaking little. By observing. By remembering that in a place like this, usefulness was currency not validation and mistakes were unforgiven

On the third day, the Alpha summoned the wards for a demonstration of loyalty.

The grand hall was silent when I stepped forward. One by one, others recited oaths — polished, practiced, pleasing.

Then it was my turn.

“I swear loyalty to the Crown,” I began, my voice thinner than I intended. “To uphold the peace and honor the laws of the pack.”

The words felt hollow.

From the edge of the hall, a figure in a mask stood watching; Tall, still. A glint of blue beneath it's cloak.

My heart stopped.

Rowan-

Or someone connected to him.

I finished my oath, pulse roaring in my chest. The envoy clapped slowly. “Unexpected,” he said. “The Alpha will be pleased.”

But the masked figure had moved closer.

When the hall emptied, he approached me in a whisper of fabric.

“Ivy,” he hissed. How did he/she knew my name “You don’t know what you’ve walked into.”

“Who are you?” I demanded softly.

“I am the reason you may survive this pack alive,” he replied. “And the only one who might help you. Every ally here is a shadow. Every friend, a knife. And Kellan-”

He stopped himself.

Then he vanished.

That night, I lay awake in my gilded room, the ceiling painted with constellations I could not name. Beneath my pillow, I kept Rowan’s coin — cold metal pressed into my palm like a promise.

I knew one thing with terrifying clarity:

Rowan had not abandoned me

He had sent someone - the mask man

---

By morning, the palace felt smaller.

The labyrinth of corridors pressed in on me as I tried to breathe in the gardens. A servant found me there.

“The Alpha requests your presence. Now.”

.....

The Alpha’s chamber bore the thorned crown sigil carved into dark wood. Inside, he sat behind a vast desk, composed and unreadable.

“Ivy of Ravencroft,” he said smoothly. “Your story interests me. A forsaken omega" He says, getting up from his golden chair " But still, showing mercy to the weak and dying. The court admires such narratives.”

Narratives.

“You will attend the Harvest Ball,” he continued. “You will make an impression; Loyalty, when displayed correctly, inspires unity.”

Unity under his rule.

“Be careful,” he added quietly. “Usefulness is a fragile thread and most not be misused”

I understood the warning. I curtsied and exited

...

That night, the rustle came from my balcony again.

The masked figure stepped from shadow.

“Don’t speak,” he whispered, shushing me. “The Alpha doesn’t grant favors. You’re a symbol, a tool to be dispensed when no longer useful"

" Why are you telling me thi-"

" And Kellan is playing both sides.” He cut in

My stomach twisted. “What do you mean?”

“Rowan was investigating the Alpha's dealings with rogue packs. He’s in danger. If you care about him, you must stop trusting so easily.”

Fear sharpened my voice. “Where is he?”

“In the dungeons,” the masked man said. “ Kellan placed him there. And Rowan told me to warn you.”

I couldn't make sense of everything he was saying, it came too fast “Who are you?” I managed to ask

He removed the mask.

His face was unfamiliar, sharp, wary. “My name is Lyrien. I was with Rowan.”

“Why help me?”

“Because you have a spark,” he replied. “And because Kellan Ashborne does not love you. He loves what you represent.” "You're only a pawn in his real life chess game"

The words struck harder than I expected.

A pawn.

Was I only that?

Every careful touch from Kellan replayed in my mind. The way he positioned himself near me in court. The subtle guidance, the warnings.

Had it all been strategy?

“Tomorrow night,” Lyrien said. “There’s a way out. I can help you free him. But you must choose.”

Trust him or stay and be used.

---

The next day passed in careful smiles.

That evening, I sneaked towards the dungeons.

Guards flanked the entrance, but I tried my best not to be seen

And then she saw him.

Rowan.

Chained to the wall, bruised and drained. His eyes met hers.

Time froze

He mouthed one word.

Run.

The same warning Lyrien had given me

Fear flooded my veins. The guards shifted.

i forced myself to turn away before I was seen.

But I would not run without him.

---

Back in my chamber, a note lay on her pillow. Midnight; Be ready.

No signature.

I didn’t need one. But I knew who it came from

The clock ticked mercilessly as shadows walked pass her windows.

Run, Rowan had said.

But I understood something now.

Running alone was survival.

Running together was rebellion.

I stood at the window, blue scrap clenched tight in my fist, heart pounding not just with fear - but with hope - hope of escape

The palace believed me fragile.

The Alpha believes me useful.

Kellan believed her manageable.

They were all wrong.

Midnight would not be my escape.

It would be my first real move.. without Kellan...

  • Forsaken Omega   The End🙏😘

Mia didn’t go back to sleep. She tried. She really did.She lay there, eyes closed, body still, forcing herself to breathe slowly like that would somehow shut her mind off.It didn’t.Every time she got close, his voice slipped back in.“Lie.”She groaned and flipped onto her other side.“This is so annoying…”It shouldn’t be this hard. She had handled worse. Way worse.People. Situations. Emotions. So why was this one guy getting under her skin like this? She sat up again, frustrated, dragging both hands down her face.“Okay. Enough.”If sleep wasn’t coming, then she wasn’t going to sit here fighting it.—Morning came faster than she expected. Not because she slept.Because she didn’t.Mia was already dressed by the time the rest of the house started waking up.She needed distraction.Movement.Anything that wasn’t thinking. The training grounds.Perfect.—The place was mostly empty when she got there.A few early risers here and there, but no crowd.Good.Mia grabbed a wooden staf

  • Forsaken Omega   This means war

Mia didn’t sleep well. She told herself it was nothing. Just a long day. Too much going on.But every time she closed her eyes, her mind dragged her right back to that room.To him.To the way he looked at her like he could see straight through whatever she was trying to hide.It was annoying.Worse than annoying.Because he wasn’t even wrong. She turned on her bed again, dragging the pillow over her face.“This is stupid,” she muttered into it.It didn’t help. After a while, she gave up.The room was quiet. Too quiet. The kind of silence that makes your thoughts louder instead of calmer.Mia sat up, running a hand through her hair before swinging her legs off the bed.A walk. That’s all she needed.Just fresh air. Clear her head. Reset.Nothing more.—The hallway lights were dim, most people already asleep.Good.Less chance of running into anyone. She moved quietly, arms folded as she walked past the empty corridors, her footsteps soft against the floor.Everything felt… normal. To

Mia was the one who broke first. Not by stepping away.Just by breathing.A shaky inhale that gave her away completely.Zade caught it. Of course he did.His eyes didn’t leave her face, but something in his expression shifted—subtle, but there. Like he’d just confirmed something he already suspected.“Say it,” he said quietly.Mia frowned. “Say what?”“That you don’t feel it.”Her grip tightened around the towel again.“I don’t,” she said, too fast.Zade didn’t even react to the lie. He just watched her for a second longer, like he was deciding something. Then he stepped back.Just like that. The space between them opened up again, and the sudden distance made Mia feel… off. Like something had been pulled away too quickly.“Fine,” he said. That was it. Just one word. But it hit harder than anything else he’d said.Mia blinked. “Fine?”Zade ran a hand through his hair, turning slightly away from her. “If that’s what you want to go with.”“That’s not—” she started, then stopped.Because

  • Forsaken Omega   ZADE!

The water still clung to her skin long after she stepped out of the pool.Mia could feel it—cool droplets tracing slow paths down her neck, slipping past her collarbone, disappearing beneath the thin fabric of her singlet. But it wasn’t the water that made her pulse uneven. It was him.Zade hadn’t moved. Not even an inch.He stood a few feet away, arms relaxed at his sides, but there was nothing relaxed about him. His eyes were locked on her—not casually, not accidentally—but with a focus so intense it felt like pressure against her skin.Mia swallowed.“Why are you looking at me like that?”Her voice came out softer than she intended.Zade didn’t answer immediately. His gaze flickered—just once—down her body, then back up to her face. That small movement alone made her breath hitch.“You walked out like you didn’t know I was here,” he finally said, voice low.“I didn’t,” she replied quickly, though even she could hear the weakness in it.A corner of his mouth lifted—not quite a smile

The door didn’t open immediately.Zade stood there, hand still on the handle, like something on the other side was thinking about letting him in… or deciding not to.Mia felt it too. That quiet. Not normal quiet. Not night silence. This one felt… aware.“Zade…” she whispered.“I know.”He pushed the door.It creaked open slowly.Inside, the room was dark—but not empty. The window was open. Curtains moving with the wind. The air smelled wrong… like damp earth and something metallic underneath.Zade stepped in first.Mia followed, slower.“Stay behind me,” he muttered.“I’m not a child.”“Tonight, you are.”She didn’t argue. That alone told him something was off.The room looked untouched at first glance. Bed neatly made. Table in place. Nothing broken. But—Zade’s eyes shifted. The floor.Barely visible… but there.Marks.Not footprints.Claw marks.Dragging across the wooden floor like something heavy had been pulled… or something had resisted.Mia saw it too.Her breath caught.“…Tha

The moment we stepped out of the hospital, the air felt… wrong. Too still. Too quiet. Like everything was holding its breath. Lucian didn’t slow down. One arm steady around Mira, the other slightly out like he was ready for anything. Arin stayed close to me this time. Closer than usual. That alone told me he felt it too. “Where are we going?” he asked quietly. “Main gate,” Lucian answered. No hesitation. No second guessing. Straight out of Ironhaven. My grip tightened slightly around Arin’s hand. Something in my chest wouldn’t settle. “You feel it too, don’t you?” I said under my breath. Lucian didn’t look at me. “Yes.” That was enough. We kept walking. Fast. Purposeful. The guards we passed stepped aside immediately. No one stopped us. That should’ve made me feel better. It didn’t. If anything… it made it worse. Too easy. Way too easy. Mira shifted slightly. “Why does it feel like we’re sneaking out?” she muttered. “We’re not sneaking,” I said. “Feels

At this point, I stopped trying to wash it away. The dust stayed no matter what I did—water, cloth, even the harsh soap the servants used for bloodstains. It clung to my skin like a second pulse, faint and stubborn. That morning I sat on the edge of my bed and watched it breathe. Because that
