Abby's POV

I wanted to stay mad at Derek. I really wanted to. But the moment I heard his voice over the phone, full of remorse, something inside me softened.

The council had suspended him temporarily from his Alpha position till further notice. And I feel sorry for him. I really did.

He said he was leaving town for a while until he’d be reinstated. So, he wanted us to meet just to know if I’d truly forgiven him. But that could only happen outside Hayden’s pack. Somewhere neutral. Unless Derek wanted a death wish.

But what reason could I give Hayden that would be convincing enough? He would never, ever allow me to go see Derek.

Trying to figure out what excuse would work on Hayden, I wandered the pack. I decided to take a route I'd never taken since I arrived in this pack.

Then I stumbled on Alex. He was just coming out of his… house. Yes, it had to be his house. It definitely fit someone like the Duskfire Pack’s second-in-command. A big mansion, though not as massive as Hayden’s.
