Ellyse puffs out smoke from her cigarette. The night was beautiful with stars sprinkled around the sky like glitters. The moon was up, its light illuminating the sea. She’s at the yacht’s deck, looking over the ocean. She’d watch the waves crash and how the somber music from inside made her feel calm.

It’s her graduation party, her mother Eliana threw it for her but most of the people inside were business partners and relatives. Agatha wasn’t there, her friend.

She wasn’t the type to garner

  • Fractured Promises   Chapter 132

Kai drove his father to their house after visiting the police station. His head was still all over the place and he couldn’t seem to get himself to think straight no matter how hard he tries. “You have to think logically when it comes to things like this, Kai. The officer was right, we cannot declare a person missing within 24 hours-“ “But she’s pregnant, dad,” his voice held heavy weight. “I know Ellyse’s pregnant, I know that her condition’s critical…but what if she did leave? What if she left to her own accord,” he shook his head. He knew that the possibility of her finally leaving him wasn’t low. After everything he’s inflicted in her life, he would understand why she’d result to leaving everything behind. But she wouldn’t leave her daughter behind just like that. The door was unlocked, and that was the only thing he was clinging on. His

“No, no I’m not marrying him again,” Ellyse shook her head. The idea of having to beg him to marry her again made her stomach turn and her skin crawl. She didn’t want to go through that again, she didn’t want to make a fool of herself for the sake of paying off their debts. “Yes, you will,” Eliana spat back with conviction, but she held her head high. “Mom, there are plenty of ways to earn money. You don’t have to resort to stealing, I don’t have to marry him, we can find ways-“ “There is no way! Can’t you see, Ellyse? Your father and I are going to go down along with our company. Do you want that to happen?!” she slammed both of her hands on the table, making her flinch. “And what? At the expense of my own dignity? I already married him to please you-“ “You married him because you love him! So don’t tell

“Kai, did you forget something-“ Ellyse abruptly opened the door, not knowing that the person she was expecting outside wasn’t the person standing in front of her now. It was a stranger that wore a black face mask. Before she could even respond, he suddenly placed a handkerchief over her mouth and nose. Her vision went black and the next thing she knew, she already fell on the floor. Black is all she saw. Meanwhile, Kai drove home peacefully—unaware of what just happened to Ellyse. He was busy replaying about what happened between them both earlier. There has been a few instances where they unknowingly place themselves in awkward situations like that. He didn’t know what to feel, or why he’s even thinking about that in the first place. A heavy sigh escapes his lips as he parked h

  • Fractured Promises   Chapter 129

“Mom, I’m hungry,” Claire’s voice echoed from the stairway, causing both Ellyse and Kai to step back from being in such close proximity. She blinked multiple times, unable to process what had just happened. Meanwhile Kai looked around like a lone puppy. “Uh…uhm, I’ll handle the cooking. You can go and…take care of Claire,” she gave him a light push on the shoulder. After almost getting caught that close with his ex-wife, Kai didn’t argue anymore and did exactly what she said. He straightened his back before walking to Claire. Ellyse lets out a breath she didn’t even know she was holding. She proceeded to cook their food with the memory of whatever happened earlier looming in her mind. That specific day was so eventful, from her gatecrashing at the company’s meeting, to meeting Agatha, and having reporters swarm them with invasive

  • Fractured Promises   Chapter 128

It was raining hard when the three of them left the indoor playground. Claire was already quite tired from playing too, but Ellyse decided to go grocery shopping. “Mom, I want to go home already!” Claire sulked while riding the shopping cart Kai was pushing. “Claire, behave,” Kai scolded her but she continued wriggling around the cart. “I just have to buy food so we can have something to eat by next week,” she told her while going through the canned goods aisle. “I can hire you a private chef if you want to,” Kai offered. She paused for a moment before shaking her head. She had already turned down his offer of living together again, a part of her felt guilty for always refusing his help. But the thing is, she didn’t need anything. “That’s excessive,” she chuckled. “I

“Claire told me last night that she wanted to play in an indoor playground at the mall. You should come with us after lunch,” Kai stated while unbuckling his seatbelt. Ellyse didn’t really have anything in her agenda that day so she figured accompanying them didn’t sound like a bad idea, especially after what happened earlier. “Sure,” she answered plainly before leaving the car. They both strutted inside the mansion, as always the maids and helpers greeted them inside before they saw Claire running down the stairs. “Mommy! You’re here!” she beamed happily before welcoming her with a hug. She chuckled, embracing her back. “Oh, how I missed you Claire.” She planted a soft kiss on top of her daughter’s head. “I told Dad last night that we should go to the mall and play! You should come with us!”

  • Fractured Promises   Chapter 71

For the first time since the fight, Kai finally answered Ellyse’ call. Her heart leaped, she felt so nervous to finally tell him about her pregnancy. It’s been long overdue and she felt that he deserved to know too. Maybe it was

  • Fractured Promises   Part 9: Claire

Ellyse’s hands trembled as she saw the two visible lines appear on the pregnancy test she took just earlier today. Her and Kai have been intimate for quite some time now, but it didn’t occur to her that she could be pregnant. They were careful! God knows t

“Kai!” Ellyse squirmed when he pulled her waist. “Five minutes,” He whispered. They were swimming in the pool for more than an hour now and her phone kept ringing nonstop. “Someone’s calling me!” She giggled, her hand resting on his arms that are around her waist. “That can wait, we’re on a
