“Let’s keep it on the sidelines for a while…maybe wait for you to give birth first and then we can get married,” Kai suggested while he maneuvered the steering wheel.

“W-What do you mean? We’ll wait for a year?” She asked, bewildered.

The idea of waiting for a whole year just to get married sounded like hell to her! What would happen during that? If he’s already meeting with Agatha so early on, what more during a year?

  • Fractured Promises   Chapter 122

Ellyse had no idea how long she slept. For some reason, pregnancy has made her drowsier than ever. She accidentally skipped lunch because of it too. Thankfully, Kai woke her just right in time for dinner. She literally slept for almost 6 hours straight! “Hey, come on let’s eat dinner,” he nudged her softly. She opened her eyes and saw him, he stood in front of her like he never left in the first place. She squinted a little before rubbing her eyes forcing herself to sit up. “I slept for that long?” she asked him. “Yep, you didn’t eat anything earlier so you have to eat a lot. Don’t worry, there are no fishes in sight,” he chuckled while she pouted. “I’ll leave after dinner,” she informed him. His brows shot up, “I don’t think that’s a good idea, Ellyse. You should stay in, I scheduled a doctor’s appointment tomorrow mor

  • Fractured Promises   Chapter 121

Ellyse had to drop Claire off at Kai’s house because it was Saturday. She’ll stay there for two days before she gets her back on Sunday night. By Tuesday, she had to make a big decision that might ultimately affect her life. She still hasn’t made a decision or whether or not it was a great idea to live with her ex-husband again. She texted him before she drove to his house. Ellyse: Hey, I’ll drop off Claire at your house. We’re otw now Then she turned her phone off and started driving. “Mom, will you stay with me and dad at home?” Claire croaked from the backseat. She was eager to see her father again. “Uh…I don’t know, Claire. It’s a weekend, you’ll stay at your dad’s house,” she informed her as if she didn’t already know that. Claire pouted, “But I want you to stay with us too!” “

The lake carried many memories of Ellyse’s relationship with Xander. It was their meeting place. For a short while, it became her place of solace and peace. She stared at the email with a blank expression, trying to think of a response. Actually, she had no idea if it was even a good idea to respond. She recalled everything that happened leading up to her wedding. How Xander and her reconnected, and how she almost considered marrying him instead of Kai. So instead of responding, she closed her laptop and went to sleep. The next morning, Kai went to her house early in the morning again. He also had breakfast for them and he took care of Claire. She didn’t actually believe him when he told her that he’ll start helping her out. But seeing him exert this much effort warmed her

Ellyse knew that something was wrong Kai. He was very keen on putting the wedding on hold and focusing on their baby first. She can’t believe how she’s actually buying it. She thought about it long and hard after their doctor’s appointment and she realized that maybe he was right. Maybe it was a better idea to focus on their family first. However, she knew that her mother, Eliana would disagree. Plus, it wasn’t like she was willing to wait a year to get married to him. “One month,” she uttered to her mom. They were sitting across eachother in the living room, Eliana was busy sipping tea using her chinese ceramics while listening to her suggestion. “Let’s postpone it for a month…please? Wedding preparations are arduous and I feel like if it’s rushed, it wouldn’t be perfect-“ “Perfect? It’s a Laurent and Kennedy wedding, it is more than perfect Ellyse. You’re talking nonsense!” she co

Ellyse and Kai were lying down face to face while their daughter was in between them. Both of them had their heads supported by their left hand, looking at Claire. “She sleeps so easily whenever you’re around,” she stated. “Nah, it’s only because you and I are here,” he argued, which she agreed to. Claire has been very keen on keeping her parents on her side at all times. She despised having to go to different houses throughout the week. “I didn’t expect her to be happy about her sibling being a boy,” she chuckled, now busy combing her hair with her fingers. “I think she has always wanted a sibling, she just preferred it to be a girl,” Kai also chuckled with her. At that very moment, they sat silently in front of eachother. It was one of those times where the silence wasn’t awkward or bothersome—it was actually peaceful.

After the appointment, they left Dr. Sanchez’s room to finally leave. Both of them were silently walking until they saw someone familiar passing by.It was Riden. He was wearing his hospital uniform and stethoscope around his neck. Ellyse met eyes with him.“Riden,” she acknowledged his presence.“Ellyse, long time no see,” his eyes wandered off to Kai who’s standing beside her.“And Kai,” he nodded briefly.“You work here?” she asked to make the situation lighter.“Uh, yes. I have been working here for a while now,” he answered her. Ellyse felt like the whole atmosphere between the two men were very heavy and it made her a little uncomfortable. “You? What brings you two here?” she gulped harshly and was about to answer his question with full honesty when Kai suddenly spoke.“We wanted to see the gender of our baby,” he said as if it wasn’t something big.Something shifted in R

“Oh my goodness, Ellyse! We’re so glad you’re okay,” Victoria came rushing inside her hospital room the next day with George and Claire. “How are you feeling?” She asked, concern was very evident in her tone. “I feel so much better, mom,” she gave her a ti
