Chapter 4

Autor: Moore
The next morning, the Riso family's motorcade drove into the slum in a grand procession. Several black luxury cars were parked neatly on the shabby square, out of place with the surrounding decrepit environment.

People nearby rushed out to watch, gathering in groups while they criticized.

The accompanying servants swiftly put away all the items.

Titus stood by the car, occasionally tiptoeing to peer at the distant intersection. He took out his phone and checked it repeatedly. Regret somehow rose in his heart. He wondered if he had gone too far when he asked me not to return to the rental house, and whether I suffered any injustice by spending the whole night outside the slum.

As soon as this thought occurred, Melissa walked over, holding Christian's hand. She said with a grin, "Titus, everything is ready. The butler and the rest are waiting. It's time for us to get in the car."

Titus came to his senses, frowned, and glanced at his phone. "Let's wait a bit more. Noelle hasn't returned yet."

Then, he urgently called my number again, but all he heard was a cold, prompt tone of the call being unanswered. The text messages he sent out were also met with complete silence.

Noticing his increasingly grim expression, Melissa asked softly, "Doesn't Noelle know we're leaving today?"

Titus did not respond. He turned to his staff and instructed, "You guys come with me to look around and see where Mrs. Holt went."

Just as Titus was about to leave, Melissa quickly grabbed his arm.

She bit her lip, her face full of self-reproach as she choked out. "Noelle must be angry with me. She left because of me. It was my fault yesterday. I shouldn't have been so sensitive and said those things."

She paused before continuing with red-rimmed eyes, "How about this? Take Christian and go first. I'll stay and find her. Once I find Noelle, I'll apologize to her properly and come find you together."

Titus was about to speak when she gently tugged at his sleeve, glanced at the butler standing not far away, and muttered, "Titus, look. That butler seems to be in a hurry to leave. You’ve just been brought back into the Riso family. If you keep delaying here, the family will think you're indecisive. It'll give them something to hold against you."

Titus followed her gaze and indeed saw the butler not far away, looking impatient and covering his nose with a handkerchief.

The slight guilt he had felt toward me was instantly replaced by anger. Titus' face turned completely cold. He felt I was deliberately throwing a tantrum.

"You don't need to stay. Noelle's too willful. I have to teach her a lesson this time. Let her stay in the slums and reflect on her actions. I'll send someone to bring her back when she realizes her mistake." His tone was full of anger and impatience.

Once he finished speaking, he bent over to help Christian and Melissa into the luxury car. "Let's go!"

With Titus' command, the motorcade slowly started moving.

Melissa sat in the car, watching the slums recede into the distance, a smug smile on her lips.

Christian leaned against the window, glanced back, and asked timidly, "Dad, are we not going to wait for Mom?"

Titus patted his head, his tone slightly displeased. "Your mother disregarded the bigger picture and has to stay to apologize. We'll go back first."

Melissa immediately interjected softly, "Don't worry, Christian. Your dad will bring her back in a while."

With that said, the three of them looked out at the scenery rushing by, each dreaming of their so-called wonderful lives.

There was no suspicion or resentment. This was a life I never dared to imagine. One day, I was busy packing bread for my customers when a familiar and hoarse voice rang out. "Can you make me some buns?"It was Titus, with a tired face and bloodshot eyes. He hurried toward me, his voice hoarse and full of affection. "Noelle, I'm sorry. I have seen through Melissa's true colors and sorted out all the matters. Would you go back with me? I'll give you the very best of everything. He paused, tears flowing uncontrollably. "An

After Melissa was confined to the manor, her temper became increasingly irritable. She would lash out at the housekeepers at the slightest provocation, and smashing things was a common occurrence for her.The housekeepers often gathered together to complain."This lazy woman orders us around all day long!""The Don has grown tired of her. I think it won't be long before she's kicked out!""I heard Donna is gentle and kind. I really hope she can come back soon."These remarks reached Melissa's ears without any omission. She trembled with anger as strong resentment grew in her heart. She hated Titus' cold-heartedness, and she hated even more that I would threaten her position if I returned.Since Titus no longer cared about their old bond, there was no need for her to show mercy.Melissa privately contacted Titus' cousin, Adachi Riso. Adachi had long coveted the position of Don; the two of them hit it off immediately and began to secretly collude.Melissa was responsible for deli

Fred received Titus' order and immediately set off for the slums. He searched the slums thoroughly and asked the neighbors nearby, but could not find any trace of me.Unable to delay any longer, he rushed back to Riso Manor that night and reported to Titus immediately, "Don Riso, there's no trace of the Donna in the slum. I checked her immigration records. She went to Swizor the night before you returned to Napple.""Swizor?" Titus staggered a step backward, his face filled with disbelief. Even his voice was trembling. "What is she doing in Swizor? Look into it and find out her exact location in Swizor. I want to see her and ask her in person!"Fred looked troubled and replied in a whisper, "Don Riso, the Donna seems to have deliberately hidden her whereabouts. We only found out she went to Swizor so far. We'll need time to find out the exact address."Titus waved his hand, and Fred silently left.Titus was alone in the study. His heart felt like it was tightly grasped by a hand,

After Melissa returned from the hospital, she could not feel at peace. She was determined to become Titus' woman as soon as possible and completely take over as Donna. That night, Titus was handling affairs in the study while Melissa, wearing a sexy nightgown, walked in holding a glass of red wine. "Titus, you've had a long day. Have a drink to relax."Titus took the glass and took a few sips. Not long after, he felt himself burning and dizzy. It was like there was a burning sensation in his body. He looked up at Melissa, his eyes filled with shock and anger.Melissa slowly approached him before adding gently, "Titus, I know you've been very tired recently. I'll stay with you all night."Her fingertips gently brushed against his chest before she began to unbutton his shirt, her tone coquettish yet urgent. "Haven't you always loved me? Leave Noelle, and we'll get married, okay?"Titus shoved her aside, supporting himself to stand up with the table. His face was ashen. "Melissa, don

As expected, under Titus' unrestrained indulgence, Melissa spent her days either shopping or at the beauty salon. She no longer fawned over Christian or revolved around him as she used to.Back in the rental house, I had taken meticulous care of Christian. Now that they had moved into Riso Manor, Christian was having a hard time. He was constantly in a bad mood and looked glum all day long.Titus was occupied with the Riso family's affairs all day, often leaving early and returning late. He had no time for Christian. He struggled to get up for help, but the housekeeper on duty outside the door was nowhere to be found. He forced himself to call Melissa, but no one answered after it rang for a long time.Melissa was busy attending a high-society dinner and did not notice his distre

Please follow me."Titus nodded and followed the butler upstairs. Pushing open the heavy door, he saw a frail old man lying on a massive bed. The old man's complexion was pale, but his eyes were still sharp. He was the current Don of the Riso family—Arnod Riso."My son, come here." Arnod beckoned to Titus, his voice weak yet authoritative.Titus walked to the bed and looked at his unfamiliar father, unable to put his finger on how he felt.Seeing Titus, Arnod's eyes immediately reddened as he struggled to sit up.
