Chapter 11: You're Playing Dangerous.

I stepped out in the bikini and every conversation around the pool died.

Alyssa dramatically lowered her sunglasses and whistled. “Holy hell.”

Roman turned the second he saw me. And stared. Eyes dark, mouth parted, pupils blown wide. “Fuck me.”

I walked past him and lowered myself into the infinity pool with slow, deliberate grace, every move choreographed for maximum effect. Every move catching Roman's attention.

When I surfaced, my bikini clung to me like a scandal.

A collective silence hovered around the pool.

“Sav, that should be illegal in at least four states.” Alyssa hollered.

Someone coughed. Someone else dropped their sunglasses.

Roman swam closer, jaw tight, voice low. “You planning to kill me in public?”

I smiled. “Why? Is it working?”

Roman swallowed hard.

He was already in the water. I disappeared beneath the surface, then rose again, each stroke pulling me toward him like gravity.

Our eyes locked. Tension snapped like a rubber ba

Chapter 42: Words, Savannah. Roman stands, then begins walking back and forth, like a professor addressing his students. It suddenly felt like I was in a lecture hall. “I'm getting a picture here, Sav.” He stopped mid-stride, pivoted, and fixed me with that infuriatingly calm stare of his. “He comes to me, showing me the video and spewing these wild accusations against you. Then he goes to you, waving around that list like it's the answer to world peace. Are you thinking what I'm thinking?” My brain kicked into overdrive, working faster than the intelligence department—hell, faster than a caffeine-addicted conspiracy theorist at 3 a.m. The more I lined the pieces up, the more obvious it became.“He's trying to break us apart.” I blurted out. “Exactly.” Roman’s voice dropped, dark and certain, “That son of a bitch.” How dare Dean try to do something so nasty? The more I thought about it, the angrier I got. That was way below the belt and it sickens me that he'd resort to such pett

  • From Best Friend To Fiancé    Submission?

Chapter 41: Submission?Roman had just excused himself from Alyssa when I intercepted, pasting on the fakest, tightest smile in my arsenal. My hand hooked into his arm like a grappling hook, and I hauled him toward our room before anyone could blink.I wasn’t about to take chances. Not tonight. Not with Dean’s smug little bomb ticking in my pocket. The door shut behind us with a soft click, but the sound felt like a gunshot in my chest. I spun on him, all claws and teeth. Ready to attack. “What the hell, Roman?”He blinked at me, actually blinking like he had no idea. “Okay… can I at least know what I did wrong before I get executed?”“Dean found your name on the VIP guest list for an escort service website.”That got a reaction. His eyebrows went up a millimeter. “How did he get his hands on that?”“I have no fucking idea. Do you think I keep a subscription to Creeps With Connections Monthly?”“But I already canceled my membership—”“Two days before we arrived here,” I cut in, “afte

  • From Best Friend To Fiancé    The Things I’m Into

Chapter 40: The Things I'm IntoThe photo on Dean’s phone felt like a sucker punch to the gut.It was not even a photo. This was worse.Way fucking worse. At the top of the glaring white webpage: VIP Guest List— The Velvet Desires. My eyes darted over the names, my pulse hammering. Roman’s full name was right there in black text. No mistaking it. No alias.Roman Nicholas Blackwood. Below his name was a glittering parade of scandal waiting to happen. Oil tycoons, tech billionaires, heirs to conglomerates, political leaders, CEOs of corporations that had their own skyscrapers. Even two prominent pastors whose smiles I’d seen plastered on TV every Sunday morning. My stomach churned. How did Dean get access to this? “I take it you’re just finding out about your fiancé’s double life now.” Dean’s voice was all smug satisfaction as he slipped the phone back toward himself. “I warned you about this dude. Rich guys like this have crazy kinks.”My fingers twitched, wanting to slap that smu

  • From Best Friend To Fiancé    Conspiracy Theories

Chapter 39: Conspiracy Theories Another day, another stupid fucking event.Of everything I’ve ever had to endure, nothing tested my self-control more than watching Dean move around like the perfect doting fiancé to Chloe.A Bluetooth speaker played a mix of Motown and old rock hits—Marvin Gaye melting into The Rolling Stones then into ABBA before swerving to Tina Turner. Everyone was grooving. Ever so often, Aunt Thelma would sway to the beat while carrying another plate of burgers to the table. Alyssa was dancing and singing to the lyrics that obviously reminded her of her first boyfriend, Troy, who nicknamed her ‘Dancing Queen’ back in high school. I chuckled at that. That however didn't last long. Dean twirled Chloe and everyone gushed, switching attention immediately. I groaned for the millionth time since today, swallowing the contents of my can in one gulp. They always have to find a way to steal the spotlight. Fucking hell. Dean laughed at something Chloe whispered in hi

  • From Best Friend To Fiancé    You’ve Seen It?

Chapter 38: You've Seen It?The moment my senses returned, the words tore out of me like claws. I knew all the right answers to his questions and it all led to one big revelation. Dean had secretly recorded us together back then and now he's using it to make Roman do his bidding. “How could Dean do something so disgusting?!”It came out loud enough to rattle the air between us. My whole body was hot—too hot—and I couldn’t keep still. My arms wrapped around myself like that could stop the tremor running through me.Roman was calm. Infuriatingly calm. Was that a talent? Was it a skill that he had perfected? How does he stay unbothered even in situations like this? He was lying on the bed beside me, one forearm tucked behind his head like nothing in the world was worth breaking a sweat over. His gaze tracked me, steady and unblinking, as if he’d been expecting this outburst before I even opened my mouth.“Calm yourself,” he said evenly. “I’ll handle the weasel.”The flatness in his v

  • From Best Friend To Fiancé    Good Girl

Chapter 37: Good Girl Savannah “We had sex,” I said flatly, forcing the words past the tightness in my throat, shoving the memory into a locked corner of my mind.Roman’s smirk was slow and deliberate, like he could see through my mind. “Good girl.”It should have felt uncomfortable—him positioned this close, this intimate. But it didn’t. Not even a little.“Next clue?” I asked, ignoring the bite of the belt around my wrists.“Game over, Sav.” His voice was smug, final. My brows knit. “What? What do you mean ‘game over’?”He was still holding my thighs apart like he owned the right to. “I’ve dropped all the clues. You’re a smart girl—think.”That was it…? “Three clues?” I ran through them in my head, but the pieces didn’t fit. My brain scrambled to line them up, flipping through every hint he’d given.“Think harder.” His face dipped, his voice a low rumble against my skin. Then his mouth brushed my inner thigh, and my breath caught. “Can I really do that when we’re… in this posit
