Diana’s POV

Ciara had made sure she went out of her way to get me a very good dress for the birthday party.

I had tried to convince her not to worry, but she insisted, saying I needed to make a lasting impression on the hearts of everyone who attended the party.

The day came faster than I had expected, I woke up staring at the ceiling in my room, rethinking my decision. But the truth is I don't even have a say in the matter.

"Hey! Wake up sleepy head,"

And there she Was, typical Ciara, never giving up when her mind is set on a thing.

She barged into my room, not minding if I was naked.

"Can't you at least knock?" I yelled

"Uh... need I remind you whose house you are in?" She said, snapping her fingers.

She came over to the bed and dragged the duvet that was covering my body. "It's time to prepare for your party."

"Do I have to?"

"Yes, you must", she said, a wide grin appearing on her face.

"You're such a pain in the ass" I lamented

*****

I came down from the cab, right in front of THE LORENZO’S Mansion. It was just as I remembered it. The mansion loomed beyond the wrought iron gate. It stood majestically. Its grand facade bathed in the glow of lights that were carefully lit.

Polished marble columns framed the massive double doors, and their intricate carvings hinted at wealth and history. Expensive floor-to-ceiling windows gleamed beneath the soft glow of crystal chandeliers inside, revealing glimpses of opulent furnishing.

Long perfectly paved driveway curved through manicured gardens. Where fountains gushed in elegant display, their water catching the moonlight like liquid silver.

Very detailed scarred hedges and the scent of fresh roses drifting on the breeze spoke of power, prestige, and an untouchable luxury that few could ever claim as their own.

I showed my passcode to the security man standing in front.

"Welcome Ms Kensington," one of the menservants said "This way please"

I followed him.

I was wearing a luxurious blue dress that flowed down to my feet; I had to raise it so I could climb up the stairs conveniently.

As I stepped through the towering double door, I was immediately enveloped in the grandeur of the ballroom. I stopped abruptly taking in a deep breath.

"Calm down, Diana, calm down," I muttered under my breath.

"Oh gracious God, she's here", I heard a familiar voice say.

I exhaled. I turned around to look at who it was, and there she stood in all her glory, Marcel's grandmother.

I took a slight bow. "Good day Grandmother," I said smiling

"Oh gosh, my child, we've all been waiting for you", she said, drawing me closer and hugging me tightly.

Waiting for me?

Why?

Marcel had not told them about our break up yet. I decided to play along just as Ciara had advised.

There was another guest around, but I guess they were of less importance as Mrs Audrey walked by them like they weren't in the room.

She took me straight to the living room, where every single member of the Lorenzo's was seated, they all seemed to be waiting for something, for someone

"Guess who's here now?" Mrs Audrey said with a loud, cheerful voice.

Marcel's grandfather's eyes brightened, I could see how happy he was seeing me. I went straight to where he sat and went down on my knees, heads bowed.

"Awwnn, what a well-mannered young lady" Mrs Audrey said

"Up my child" Mr Lorenzo's senior, baritone voice echoed in my ears. "Now that everyone is here, let the party begin"

Loud music began to play downstairs, and everywhere in the house but the living room.

I looked around and there he was, icy glare, straightened shoulder.

I scoffed, immediately looking away.

"Hello, Diaaaannnnaaaa"

"Hi, Victoria," I said, faking a smile.

"Granddad, grandmother, meet Selena"

I turned in the direction of where Marcel's voice had come from, and there she Was, my step-sister, wearing the exact red gown I had seen in the picture.

I was sure she wore it just to spite me; ever since my parent's real daughter came back, we never got along, even though I tried so hard to be a sister to her.

She saw me as someone who had come to take her place. I guess that's why she decided to take Marcel, too.

"Who is she" Mrs Audrey asked

"She's my plus one," He said smiling

"Plus one? What about Diana?" Mrs Audrey asked, looking around, trying to find me; I knew better than to meet her. I remained where I stood observing from a distance.

"I didn't invite her; Grandpa did, so she's your guest, not mine", he blurted out rudely.

"But Marcel..." Mrs Riley, Marcel's mother, interrupted.

"Mom, please stay out of this" " he said, raising his hands.

Marcel went ahead to pick up a glass of wine from the table with a fork, making a clanking sound with both objects calling for people's attention.

My heart began to race as I knew what was going to come up next.

I shouldn't have come.

I shouldn't have listened to Ciara.

"Attention everyone... I have a very important announcement to make."

Every member of the Lorenzo's family gathered around except me.

I was trying to leave the room. When Marcel suddenly stopped me by calling my name.

My heart was In my mouth. I turned slowly in his direction.

"I am no longer engaged to Diana" he blurted out.

"What! What nonsense is this?" Mrs Audrey yelled

"She decided to call off our engagement, all because of her silly insecurities."

Everyone in the living room and people downstairs began to murmur

Yes, people downstairs could hear him; all the music was stopped because of his announcements.

"Did you do that?" Marcel's mom asked, placing her hands on my shoulder.

The shock I was in didn't make me notice that she had gotten to where I stood.

I slowly nodded my head.

"But why?" She asked

"Your son..., your son...."

Suddenly, everyone burst into outrageous laughter except for Mr Lorenzo senior.

"Did you see her face?" Anna, Marcel's sister asked laughing ominously

I was confused.

What was going on?

"Well, you think we don't know that you are not the true daughter of the Kensington, Did you think we would allow our son to marry someone as wretched as you are"

  • From Ex to In-law   Chapter 98— The Crown and the Chaos

Raphael's POVMy morning started off quiet—too quiet. The kind of stillness that usually meant something bad was coming. I reached over to grab my phone from the nightstand, expecting the usual—maybe a message from Diana or a couple emails I could ignore. But then I saw it. “ Urgent Board Meeting – 9—00 AM” sent straight from Grandpa Lorenzo. No greeting, no context. Just a cold, sharp subject line that made my chest tighten. He doesn’t send emails unless it’s serious. I sat up, rubbing the sleep from my face, the kind of tired that couldn’t be fixed with more rest. My thoughts went straight to the news from last night. Something had blown up. And now he wanted us all in one room.I glanced at Diana still asleep beside me, her hair sprawled across the pillow. I hated waking her, but I leaned over and touched her arm gently. “ Hey … Di. Wake up,” I whispered. Her eyes fluttered open. “What’s wrong?” she mumbled.I held up the phone. “ Board meeting. Nine a.m. Grandpa called it hi

Lorenzo senior's POV"What are you sure about what you just said?" I asked "Yes sir I am very sure.""Then what are you waiting for, turn on the damn TV, let me see what's going on." I yelled."A moment sir." He moved around his body fidgeting. He was a little bit scared due to the fact I had yelled at him but you wouldn't blame me it isn't my fault I was frustrated. He walked over to the TV screen turning the it on and putting it on the exact station then he left, standing behind me.He was right, lo and behold they were on the news and the headlines was very catchy.Something like the 'the real culprits behind lorenzo dynasty embezzlement' I didn't need a soothsayer to rell me that this was solely my daughter inlaw's doing. I ws sure of it.The most surprising part of it all is the fact that my firmer lawyer was the one she placed all the blame, I remembered him the moment his ñame appeared on screen.A very intelligent man, who was more like my right hand man until I found out he w

  • From Ex to In-law   Chapter 96

Lorenzo Senior's POVI pace to and fro my living room, wondering how my family had managed to turn into a total mess, wondering how and when the hatred all began. I blamed myself for not being able to maintain the peace in my family.Yes, I was an old man, rich, wealthy; if there is another word that surpasses those two, thatwould be the best to describe me, but despite all the money I had, I couldn't buy the peace that's needed to stabilise my family.I couldn't buy the unity that I had yearned for, it wasn't like this in the time of my grandfather, my grandfather had two s,ons my father and my uncle, they lived peacefully, my father was theyounger one but due to the fact my uncle never had a passion for the family business, he went into a line that was more passionate for him and his kids took the same path he did.So when my dad died, everything he owned automatically became mine; I was his only child, so I didn't have anyone dragging managing rights with me, but then I gave birt

  • From Ex to In-law   Chapter 95— From Nightmare to Need

Serena's POVI heaved a deep sigh of relief when I realized that it was all just a dream. "Are you alright?" Marcel asked, placing his hands on my forehead."I am fine," I replied. "You stayed longer.""Yeah about that," he paused, scratching his head. "Mom asked me to do some final interviews before coming here.""Oh, I see," I said, turning my face in another direction. "Come on Serena, I am sorry.""It's fine. Please let's just leave this godforsaken place, I don't want to be seen here anymore," I said."Come on out," he said, extending his hands to me. He pulled me out of my car and led me to his, and then we drove off.On our way back to the dynasty, I felt sleepy but I couldn't sleep because of the fear of having to go into such nightmares. It was terrible seeing myself being treated as a slave, a maid by theLorenzos and most annoyingly by Diana herself. She wasn't just a pain in the ass in the physical but also my dream. Throughout the driveway, I was so restless. Marcel kept

serena's POV"You will never be like our Diana; go away; we shouldn't have given birth to you." "You stupid, ungrateful lying bitch.""We don't want you anymore, you can go to hell for all I care." "Please don't do this to me, Mom, Dad.""I am not your mom.""Nor am I your dad, no daughter of mine would look like trash like you.""Hey, Serena!" The voice was accompanied by a cute child's chuckle. I turned around to see who it was, and then I found a girl in the arms of my parents. About the same age as me."Hey, don't even dare to come closer; I don't want to see you anywhere close to my daughter." Mom shot at me.The child's eyes were familiar; I had seen them before. I couldn't recognize the body but the eyes, I could tell who it was from a mile away.Diana.Little Diana was in the arms of my parents and she was so smiley and happy. My little heart ached. "Mom, Dad, I promise to be better than Diana, please!""There's no way you can be better than her, Serena, she surpasses you in e

  • From Ex to In-law   Chapter 93— The package

Serena's POVI got outside of the Kensington's home, well my parents' home apparently, and stormed into my car. Immediately I got in, I burst out laughing so loud. I had put on a great show and made my mother feel guilty.Who cares about them loving me the way they loved Diana? I only care if they tend to give her more attention now that she's no longer their daughter.Images of my Mom's facial expression flashed through my head and I couldn't hold it in. I laughed so hard that my ribs began to ache. There was no Sheath, obviously that was a lie. Don't worry; when the time comes, you will know more about my life.I adjusted the front mirror, making sure I could see my face. I brought out my makeup kit. Yes, I always had one in my car. I adjusted my makeup as the fake tears had ruined it.I was so happy about the case. Mrs Riley Lorenzo had found a way to turn things around for us, making her and Raphael get all the credit for finding the real culprits behind the offshoreaccount
