Diana’s POV

I tried to look inside for the key. Maybe I could borrow the car for a while and use it to drive back to Ciara's, but the car key wasn't there.

One thing I was grateful for was the tinted glass the car had. It made it hard for anyone outside to see me.

I heard someone approaching. I lay on the seat, wishing it would open up and swallow me. The next thing I heard was a tap on the window screen.

Followed by the sound of the driver seat opening.

"Hello"

I exhaled when I recognised the voice to be the voice of Raphael.

"Is this your car?" I asked

"Yes it is my car" He replied firmly

"I’m sorry, I didn’t know... I will come down now," I said, gripping the door handle. Just as I was about to push the door open, the lock clicked shut.

"I didn't say you should leave."

"I am sorry, I just wanted to leave...,"

"I understand," he said staring at me.

His gaze was searching.

There was something about him; it felt like I had seen him somewhere before, but I couldn't remember.

He came out of the driver's seat.

I thought he was going back to the party, but then the left side door of the passenger seat suddenly opened, and there he was, sitting right next to me in a very awkward position.

He pulled me close, his breath hot on my skin, "pretending not to recognise me, huh?" He murmured against my shoulder.

Recognise him?

Was I supposed to?

"I don't understand what you are saying"

"Hmmm, I see, playing hard to get right, you want me to remind you?" He asked his gaze still fixed on mine.

I tried to evade, but he wouldn't let me; he kept following my gaze.

"That night, at the bar, the crazy drunk lady who approached me? Doesn't it ring a bell?"

"Bar? Drunk? Night?" I muttered under my breath. "Oh my gosh!" I exclaimed.

FLASHBACK

"Ciara, Ciara, open the door", I yelled.

Immediately I left Marcel, I rushed to Ciara's.

"Hey baby girl, what's up? Why are you here? Shouldn't you be resting?" Ciara bombarded me with questions.

"Are you going to let me in or keep me outside until I answer all your questions?" I said my voice laced with anger.

"Hey come on sis, I am sorry, please come in"

She opened the door to her home widely gesturing for me to go in.

I did.

I sank on the couch in her living room.

"What's wrong with you?"

"I just broke up with Marcel" I blurted out

"You did what!" She exclaimed

"You heard me clearly," I said unenthusiastically

"But why? What happened?"

"He's seeing Serena now"

"What, Serena? The Serena? your parent's daughter?"

"Yeah, that Serena"

"How did you find out about it?"

"Social media" I replied softly.

"How come I haven't seen it?" Ciara asked pacing around her living room.

"That's because it was my mother who posted it."

"What, it's gone that far?"

"Apparently," I said raising my hands in frustration.

I sat up. "Can you believe that I saw an earring and an open condom box fall out of his pocket? I asked him why they were there, but he didn't reply. He just ignored me."

"Oh my gosh, he's been doing it for how long?"

"How do you expect me to know that Ciara I just found out today, so what do you think,"

Ciara exhaled, "I think what you need right now is a good party."

I smiled "Definitely." I replied.

"Come on, let's get dressed," Ciara said, pulling me out of the bed.

We got to the party and then went straight to the wine cellar.

"I need something strong" I ordered

"Something strong?" The bartender asked winking at me.

"Ew, gross, I don't mean that?" I said pointing at his zippers

Ciara laughed hysterically.

"Oh okay, I get you, Ms", the bartender said smiling.

He was cute, though, but he wasn't my kind of guy.

He brought the drink, opened it, and poured it into a glass.

"Fill it up" I ordered

The bartender looked at me and then at Ciara "You heard her, fill it up "

I grabbed the glass and downed all of its contents once.

"Slow down, princess", Ciara said, laughing hysterically.

"Can you believe that idiot, threw away seven years, all my efforts, all my plans."

I signalled the bartender to pour me another.

"I thought there's supposed to be a party, why is there no loud music around here " I asked looking around

"That's because it's not your regular kind of party."

"I am going to find someone right here, right now" I blurted out

"What?"

"Marcel doesn't know what he's losing, and to prove that I am going to find myself a man right here in this bar."

"You know you don't have to prove anything to me," Ciara said

"I know I don't m, but I have to do this for me,"

I scanned the bar, looking for someone who would suit my taste, someone who is at least close to my kind of spec.

After scanning for a while, I finally spotted him; he was just entering the bar, and he was wearing a sleek red-fitted long-sleeve polo That accentuated the structure of his upper body.

"Damn" I muttered

"What's wrong?" Ciara asked

"I found him," I said smiling.

He was well-built with a perfectly shaped face. With the body of a Greek God.

I waited till he settled down at the rear end of the bar.

I stood up from my seat, and I almost fell. But Ciara helped me.

I walked majestically to where he was, and without asking if I could join him, I pulled out the other chair. "Hello, handsome,"

He raised his head briefly and then looked back down almost immediately.

I felt slightly hurt but I wasn't giving up. "Are you single?"

He dropped his glass of wine and leaned back on his chair, arms folded. "Yes, why."

I adjusted My chair closer to his "Let's mingle" I blurted out

Before he could reply, I immediately locked lips with his, I was about to pull back when I felt him pull me closer.

I could hear surprise sounds from Ciara.

Breaking the kiss gently, he said "You are drunk"

"Am I?" I laughed hysterically.

Ciara came to drag me away "I am so sorry, she's drunk"

"What's your name?" He asked

"You don't need to know my name," I said calmly

"Why?"

"Because our paths wouldn't cross again", I said, winking at him.

BACK TO PRESENT.

I leaned backwards, away from him, from the awkward position we were in, my hands covering my mouth as I remembered that we had met before.

"Do you know what's the best way to get revenge on your ex?" He asked.

  • From Ex to In-law   Chapter 168— A New Beginning

Diana's POVThree weeks later, I sat in our beautiful living room, watching the sunset paint the sky in shades of orange and pink. The house felt peaceful now—like all the darkness had finally been swept away. Raphael walked in with two cups of hot chocolate, setting one down beside me beforesettling into his favourite spot next to me on the couch."I still can't believe it's all over," he said softly, pulling me closer to him. "But there's something I need to know, Diana. How did you do it? How did you save yourself? How did you knoweverything that was happening?"I smiled, taking a sip of the warm chocolate. "You want to know the whole story?""Every detail," he said, his eyes serious. "I need to understand how my wife became so brilliant at detective work."I laughed, but I could see he really wanted to know. So I took a deep breath and started from the beginning."I began to doubt Serena's authenticity after one argument with her I knew the Kensington's so well and there was

Diana's POV"Hello, everyone. I'm glad we're all gathered here," I said, cutting through the tense silence, interrupting Victoria's moment. All eyes snapped toward me. Shock rippled through the room like an earthquake. Raphael was the first to move—rushing across the space between us, wrapping his arms tightly around me."Diana!" he breathed, his voice cracking. "I thought—I thought they were going to kill you.""The truth is... they would have if I hadn't been smart enough," I replied with a small, tired smile. "And I'm sorry, Victoria, but my legs were already aching. Standing too long after everythingwas—well... not ideal."Raphael gently wiped the blood from my forehead, his hands trembling. "Are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere else?""I'm fine, baby. Just a scratch," I reassured him softly. But Gramps had had enough."Can someone tell me what the hell is going on here?" he shouted, his voice rising with frustration. "What is this madness?""One moment, please," I said calmly.I

  • From Ex to In-law   Chapter 166— Bargain for Life

Raphael's POVI still couldn't believe my ears. Everything Victoria had said—all of it felt so strange. Diana was doing all these things and I didn't know. She had also helped to free me from the suspicion of about twenty years ago.She also helped me make sure I secured the CEO position. She was and is my angel, and now someone had abducted her."Are you here with us, Raphael?" "Yes, I am here with you.""So what do we do now?" Ciara asked. "We need evidence," Sebastian said."As I am speaking to you right now, I am on my way to the Lorenzo Empire. I am tired of all this—it's time we bring the Lorenzos to an end.""Oh, oh, what end?" Ciara asked."I mean the bad Lorenzos in the family.""But why did you take the proof from the detective Diana had hired? Why not leave it to him to deliver it to her?" I asked."That's because he was about to be killed when I got to him. I saved his life and told him to run for his life because the people that Serena works for are very dangerous. Th

  • From Ex to In-law   Chapter 165— The Real Heiress

Raphael's POVIt's been more than five hours since Diana left our home. She had promised to call when she eventually got to Victoria's, but she hasn't called.I tried calling her, but it wouldn't even connect. Her mechanic had brought her car back home, saying she had called him because it broke down on her way, so she had to take a taxi. But if she did take the taxi, that meant she should have been at Victoria's by now and maybe on her way back."Fuuuck!" I muttered as it dawned on me that I didn't even have Victoria's number. I had thought about calling her, but I didn't have her number.I was confused. I didn't know what else to do, so I called Ciara. She picked up immediately after the first ring."Hello, Raphael."The voice sounded awfully familiar, but it wasn't Ciara's—it was someone else. "Sebastian!""Oh yes, amigo, what's up?""What the hell are you doing with... well, you know what, it's none of my business. Is Ciara there?""Uhm, she isn't here at the moment. She's in the

Diana's POV"Where are you going?" Raphael asked, his voice ragged from sleep."Uh, have you forgotten that Victoria asked to see me today?" I replied while fixing my earrings. "But why are you up so early? It's just—""10 a.m., and it's too early?" I chuckled. "Oh my gosh! It's that late?""Yeah, it is. Oh no, I have to be at the office. This isn't good for the new CEO," he exclaimed."Well, lucky you. Gramps sent a text saying you could stay in today because he understands you might not be ready to resume after what happened."He sat up, disbelief in his eyes. "Gramps said that?""Yes, he said it. You could check the text yourself—it's by your side. That's why I didn't wake you" up."Oh, man! Did I drink a lot last night?"I pointed towards the alcoholic wine bottles that I had already wrapped to dispose of. "You had two of those, Raphael.""Oh my! I did?" he said, placing his hands on his stomach. "Yes, you did, babe."I walked over to the dressing mirror, picked up my gold chain

Riley's POV"I am talking to you, don't you dare work out on me!" Junior yelled."When have I ever not walked out on you before, Junior - please don't even start this right now. I don't have that energy.""Who did you talk to?""I am not obligated to tell you anything""Oh yes, you are obligated to tell me a whole lot, Riley; I am your husband."Laughter erupted from my lungs. "You are what now junior? My husband? And so funking what junior!""You have to show me some respect in this house, I am done being the vegetable."I walked up to him, a wry smile appearing at the corner of my lips "Don't start acting up now, Junior; just continue to be the vegetable you have always been.""What!""You called yourself that, not me", I chuckled."Riley, what did you do inside there?" He said, pointing to the study door. "It's none of your business, juniors. Just pass and pretend not to see.""I can't do that, knowing you, you are probably plotting something deadly and dangerous."
