Mira's POV

Father and Cael looked at me as if I had suddenly grown a second head.

“And where exactly are you talking about?” Father asked.

“Pine Shadows,” I blurted out instantly.

“What about Pine Shadows?” Father demanded again, sounding both dangerous and curious at the same time.

“They do have a metal production company,” I said carefully, holding on to my composure even though I was still trembling like a leaf inside. “I’ve been there… a few times. Running errands for the Alpha household when I was their servant, and their forges ran almost constantly.”

Father's frown remained locked in place, but he was surely thinking about the revelation I had just shared. I had to admit to myself that I admired the way he always took his time whenever he was told something, perhaps he also discusses it with his wolf before speaking.

“And what exactly,” Cael asked, “are you suggesting, Mira?”

“I’m suggesting,” I began slowly, “that if it's possible that we've been distracted into chasing ghosts

  • From Omega's Daughter To Alpha's Daughter   Midnight walk 81

Cael's POVMira and I took a stroll in the cool night air, something we did often as we both enjoyed the outdoors more than we liked to admit. I walked slowly, adjusting my pace to fall in line with Mira’s. She didn’t complain though… she never did. Mira had that stubborn streak in her that reminded me too much of Father. We walked in silence for a while, enjoying the sound of nocturnal creatures and the coolness of the wind all around us. The moon shone so brightly, and for a moment I was tempted to howl at it. The stroll felt comfortable and easy, with the kind of silence only siblings could share without effort. But Mira broke it, as I knew she eventually would. She always noticed too much, always picking out things that others were likely to overlook.“Who was he?” she asked suddenly in her overly curious voice.I gave her a sideways glance. The moonlight made her eyes sparkle like emeralds, and the furrow in her brow told me that she had been holding in this question for a while

  • From Omega's Daughter To Alpha's Daughter   Revealing the Burdens 80

Alpha Rowland's POVAt the mention of those words, Caleb became even more serious and looked expectantly at me, waiting for me to spill the burden that was troubling me. “You sound as if there are ghosts roaming around the streets, Rowland, what exactly is happening?”I chuckled after seeing his reaction, but the smile faded off again. “Maybe there are indeed ghosts roaming our lands, Caleb. Do you remember Samantha?”Caleb looked confused for a while, then slowly his memory started recollecting events from a long time ago. He opened his mouth to say something, then closed it back again when the words wouldn't come. Samantha… my secret mate, the Omega that Selene had forced to flee after discovering our affair. It had been a forgotten occurrence, supposedly hidden away by time.“You cannot mean…” Caleb mumbled in disbelief. “Rowland, tell me you’re not talking about your ex mistress…”“I am,” I interrupted in a firm tone. “A girl named Mira appeared here a few weeks ago, claiming to b

  • From Omega's Daughter To Alpha's Daughter   Return of a Brother 79

Alpha Rowland's POVThe night was quiet, far too quiet for my liking. The entire pack was unsettled, and my people were very watchful, although no one dared to speak their uneasiness aloud. The memory of the rogues slaughtered in their cells was still lingering like a phantom in every corner of the pack grounds, and even I could feel it pressing on me… an invisible weight that kept clawing at the edges of my thoughts. The sound of the pack gates opening drew my attention, and I hurried to the window to see who was arriving. Relief washed over me despite the tension going through me as I saw who it was, Caleb Whitmore… My Beta and best friend. At last.I had sent him on a very important mission for what seemed like forever now, a journey I couldn't trust to any other wolf in my pack. His absence had been necessary, but costly. And every moment since he had been gone, I had felt the hollow of fighting this war alone.I rushed out hastily to meet him, too impatient for him to come and me

  • From Omega's Daughter To Alpha's Daughter   The fury of a scorned Mate 78

Liam's POVIt was Dahlia. She stood in the doorway with her chin raised, wearing that smug and annoying little smile she always carried when she thought she’d gotten away with something. From the look of her seductive outfit however, it looked as if she had dressed specifically for me, for this sudden intrusion.I didn't find it amusing in any way. There had been no knock or invitation to come in, and certainly no respect.Kai was already getting angry inside me, his usual reaction whenever Dahlia was near me.‘‘Here’s your chance,’’ he snapped. ‘‘Don’t you dare swallow this insult without any form of action… Don’t you dare bend to her manipulation.’’For once, I didn’t argue with him. I simply allowed his anger to flow into my own.“Do you have no sense of manners?” I yelled in a harsh voice that surprised even Kai. “Barging into my chambers as if you own it?”Dahlia was briefly taken aback, then a false look of innocence slowly spread across her face. “I’m your mate, Liam. Do I real

Liam's POVI sat on the edge of my bed with my elbows pressed against my knees. The only light in my room was the one coming from the embers of the fire in the hearth, but I felt neither the warmth of the fire nor the joy of the light.“You’re pathetic.”The voice rumbled through my head, angry and frustrated. Kai hadn't stopped attacking me ever since the encounter with my father, and his anger was still burning, and feeding mine at the same time. But my anger could never be sustained like his own, mine was always collapsing in the powerful presence of my father.“I’m not pathetic,” I muttered under my breath, even though the words sounded hollow to me.“I’m trying my best, Kai. Do you think I don’t want to stand up to him? Do you think I enjoy being treated like some… some powerless puppet?”“Then stop letting him pull the strings to everything that concerns your life,” Kai snapped with an angry growl that echoed so loudly in my mind that it made me flinch. “You’re the Alpha heir of
