Chapter 5: Before the Party

Xavier pov

   "John i do not understand why we are attending his birthday celebration. I would rather be home with our pack." Ryder's party was tomorrow. There was no need for us to be here other than the fact that they requested our attendance.

  "Listen, its good for you to get out and go to functions it increases the chances of you finding your mate. Plus it looks good on us to attend smaller packs events." His word are true but I have gave up looking for my mate i am 24 and alphas can find their mates starting at 17.

  "I doubt that. I don't believe the moon goddess gave me a mate. I'm going to just make Heather my chosen mate and Luna." I know everyone doesn't like Heather but they're just gonna have to deal with it my pack needs a Luna. 

 "Xavier don't do that. All she wants is your money. Plus I'm hoping to find my mate too. Let just try to enjoy ourselves."

 "Its not gonna be easy but guess I can try."

 "Its getting late go to your room and try to get some sleep, Xavier." I decided hes right and retreat to my room to try to get some sleep. I fall asleep around 1:00am and I dream of the brightest light teal eyes.

Ryder's pov

   That b***h except out rejection and it hurt like a bitch. Ronan has had be blocked out since the rejection. He'll get over it he hate Jess and says she's not our mate but he will have to accept it. Today is my party and tomorrow is my mating ceremony where Jess will become my chosen mate and the day after she will be come my Luna. 

   I take a quick shower and get ready for the day. When I walk out of my bathroom in a towel and see Jess laying on my bed necked. 

  "Do you want your birthday present now?" She says with a sly grin.

   Ronan come out of hiding and growls at her. "I need to get ready and make sure everything is in place i don't have time for this get dressed and leave."

   She hangs her head gets dressed and walks out. I finish getting dressed and I walk out. There is so much going on everyone is running everywhere getting everything prepared. I go to the dining hall for breakfast. Evryone stands when I walk in and in unison they all say "Good morning alpha and happy birthday."

  I wave my hand for then to all be seated and continue eating and I go and sit at my tablet and they serve my plate. I look around and I see the pack members of the Silver moon pack and the Golden moon pack. But I don't see the alpha and beta of the Black Wolf pack yet.

   I finish eating and head out to the training grounds. Xavier and John are outside sparing with each other. They seem to be similarly matched though, Xavier stands about 6'8 and more broad than John who stands about 6'4.

 "Good morning Alpha Xavier, Beta John."

 "Alpha Ryder" They say as they take a break at their sparring session. 

 "I didn't see you guys at breakfast."

 "We had breakfast brought up then decided to have our morning training session." John explains.

"I was considering joining you if you guys don't mind." I want to see what these guys are made of since they're the leaders of the most powerful pack in the area.

  They look at me and then at each other's considering if they should. Which aggravates me. Like they don't think I won't match up.

  "Sure let see what you can do." Xavier says with a smirk on his face. "John will go first against you."

John steps into the sparring circle. I do a few stretches before joining him. I swing first and he dodges it like I was moving in slow motion and counters with an upper cut to the gut. And then next thing I know I'm on the ground. Man this guy is skilled. I jump up and try to get the upper hand.

  We spar for about an hour before I call it quits and go take a shower. I didn't win a single sparring match. Hell it was almost embarrassing.

Xavier's pov

 John and I was in the middle of a sparring session when the birthday boy alpha Ryder walks up and asks to join us. John and I both looked at him then looked back at each other contemplating if we should or not. This cocky young alpha don't know whats coming but, I kinda want to see what he's got im gonna watch first 

 "Sure let's see what you can do,  John will go first."

  When John steps into the sparring circle, Ryder stands off to the side doing stretches before joining him when the match starts Ryder goes for a right hook to the face. John seamlessly dodges and reciprocates with an uppercut to the gut and a leg swipe knocking him on his a**. Ryder is stunned for a second but he gets back up and continue fighting. He has some strength but he's poorly trained. After John gets him out of the ring it is my turn. I give him a few minutes to take a break then step into the sparring circle with him.

  When I went against him it was an even more sad sight than when he went against John. It made me wonder how the rest of the pack was trained. I didn't get to see then train yesterday and today there is no training due to the celebration. If they are as poorly trained as this soon to be alpha than this pack is in trouble if they get attacked by rouges.

  Its time to go shower and get ready for the party. We say out goodbyes to Ryder and head up for showers. I'm ready to get this over with.

Katerina's pov

  I'm not allowed out of my room at all today. I don't see why I already found my mate so they don't have to worry about him taking me away. Since Ryder rejected me I don't honestly want to leave my room anyways. I haven't heard from Rosalie since last night I know she hurting. 

  I find myself wondering if they will let me eat at all today when Rosalie pops out of hiding.

'Mate Mate Mate' she starts chirping in my head.

'Our mate rejected us Rosalie don't you remember

'No it seems we got a new mate smell!'

  I smell the air and its faint but it smells like cedarwood and fresh spring rain. That is not Ryder's scent.

  'We have to go find him!' 

  'We cantt we will get in trouble and beat.' Rosalie wimpers at my words.  'I suppose it won't hurt to take a look maybe we will see him'

  I slowly open my door and have a look around. I don't see anyone so I take a step up and the sent gets a little stronger and Rosalie starts purring in my head. I look to one end of the hallway then I turn around and there stands Ryder and he's pissed. I hurry back into my room. He come and opens up my door his eyes glossed, must be mind linking someone then his eyes go back to normal.

 "What are you doing out of your room orphan you was told not to leave your room at all today! You're not allowed to see the guest and they arnt to see you!" He growls " I guess we will just have to teach you you stay put."

Just then Jayce's shows up. They both start punching me in the face and kicking me in the ribs. I'm positive almost all my ribs are broke. Ryder kicks me hard in the stomach and I spit up blood. Rosalie wimpers out in pain and disappears. 

  After one more swift kick to the face breaking my nose and fracturing my jaw. They laugh and walk off, leaving me.

All by myself.
