Bellatrix Sinclair
I quickly changed my clothes and was about to enter the weapons testing department, but Nathan stopped me.
Nathan is the Beta for the Eclipse Pack and head of Weapon X Manufacturing Company. While he acknowledges my extraordinary skills, he remains firm on the belief that humans are inferior to werewolves.
He closes the distance between us, tracing his fingertips along my arm towards my bicep. I’m not oblivious to the desire flashing in his gaze, he has tried on multiple occasions with his advances. I shrug them off, however I couldn’t control my reactions.
My muscles lock instantly, fear slithering down my spine and rattling my bones. “You’re so beautiful for a human.” His condescending voice steeped in desire that only made my stomach curl in revulsion.
Attempting to focus on my task, my throat clogged by panic as I tremble. “Ah, you’re shivering at my touch.” He taunts, honey trickling from his tongue, “You always like when I touch you, don’t think I don’t notice the goosebumps.”
That’s goosebumps of terror creeping down my throat, you asshole.
He captures my jaw and makes me look at him, trepidation pumps like poison in my veins. “I can hear the delicious beats of your heart, craving me.” He muses, seductively.
His thumb traces my bottom lip, orbs glowing lustfully. “Become my lover, Trix. I’ll treat you so well, better than my kind does to other humans.”
“I-I still have to go through the genetic screening.” I stutter in defence, “You know I can’t evade that, it’s compulsory.”
He grabs my bicep, squeezing until I knew it would bruise as he drew me closer despite my efforts to push him off. I can’t reject him openly; it will be considered an act of rebellion against the wolves and I’ll be sentenced to death.
“Come on,” he coaxed, “I’m saving you from going through all that trouble and getting a wolf who will only abuse you or worse – kill you. Don’t you want that?” his voice sickeningly sweet.
Shaking my head, “I can’t do that, you know that every female must go through the screening. It will be considered an act of disobedience.”
Genetic screening was mandated by the Wolf King - all unmated female wolves or human women had to go through it, because from what I heard, the Wolf King still hadn't found his mate.
I prayed that unlucky soul wouldn't be me.
Mustering all my strength to yank my arm out of his grasp, Nathan is stronger and there is no way of overpowering him. Hauling me closer until I’m moulded against him, “Please.” I whisper, brokenly.
After a couple seconds, his foreboding aura punctures my heart in terror at what might happen. His menacing voice thunders in my ears as he vows, “Mark my words Bellatrix, you will be mine. After the test, I’m claiming you.”
Nathan lets go of me and I bolt。I broke free from Nathan and ran, making my way to the weapons testing department. Holding back vomit, I wiped away Nathan's marks on me and focused my gaze on the weapons.
The Glock kickbacks, gunpowder mixed with metallic notes of silver perfume the air as I marvel the target practice sheet, my aim was precise with all bullets piercing the centre perfectly. My shoulder was stiff, but my body relaxed from the tension knotting my muscles.
I’ve been developing the pistol to fire a combination of two elements instead of one, so far it has been successfully in silver and gunpowder but that was simply the first step. Considering how horrible this day has been, my only solace is found behind a gun.
Despite Nathan’s earlier advances, I owed him my gratitude. Growing up in an orphanage didn’t leave me with any options aside from dying in my district, you had zero chances of survival, but I was determined to provide – for the sake of my twin sister and my future.
Nathan found me, taking interest in my knowledge of weapons and seeing it as an opportunity and vital to his kind. However, I wouldn’t have gotten the position in the company if it wasn’t for him, he has been concealing my identify as a human since I got the job a year ago.
But his behavior today made me realize that I had to accelerate my plans, or else I would definitely be forced to become his sex slave.
After finishing the day's work, when I returned home, Bonnie immediately presented me with a birthday cake.
“Happy Belated birthday.” She rejoiced, almost piercing my eardrum.
I chuckle, “Happy Belated birthday to you too.”
“So…” she drawls, “Did you get paid yet?”
I take a deep breath, squashing this uncomfortable sadness that bubbles to the surface. “Yes, and I paid your rent and gave you an allowance.”
“About that,” She laughs, her voice animated, “I spent it.”
My eyes widen, “What? you just got it yesterday.”
She clicks her tongue, “I had to get this beautiful dress, you must see it, Trixie. It’s stunning, they will fucking fall inlove with me at the screening.” She declares confidently.
I couldn’t help the sliver of disappoint crawling up my throat, threatening to vomit my truth to her. We were twins, but we couldn’t be more different. I despised werewolves, the passion for my hatred burned as brightly as the sun.
However Bonnie was the opposite, she never openly expressed that she admired them, but her actions have spoken louder than her words.
Therefore, it comes as no surprise when she asks, “I need something, you don’t even have to give me an allowance, I can survive this month but please.”
“I need the latest edition of the Swan Lake necklace, it’s such a captivating piece that I will be outstanding at the genetic screening, they won’t be able to resist me.” She proclaims fiercely.
She wants to be favoured by the werewolves, she’s putting in all this effort for them and it infuriated me. This wasn’t the first time she asked me for an expensive piece of jewellery, rather she had an affinity for shiny things and couldn’t resist herself the extravagance.
“Bon, that’s out of my budget right now.” I stressed solemnly.
Sometimes I didn’t mind splurging on her, however as the years have passed, I wondered if Bonnie would ever become independent. She never had a job, and I take care of her expenses regardless. She seems reluctant to work, she wants to become a shiny object for their satisfaction, and I just wish that for once – she would be independent and know the struggles I experience to keep her life as stable as possible.
“If you got a job, then I’m sure with the allowance I give you combined with your own, you will be able to afford it.” I appease in a gentle voice.
She scoffed, appalled at the suggestion. “Trixie, the screening is next week. I don’t have time to get a job, if I do then I’ll only get my salary at the end of the month and by then it will be too late.”
“i-“
“You are all that I have,” Bonnie states, “Our parents abandoned us, we lived in that shithole of an orphanage and now you want to do the same to me. Are you really going to leave me alone now that you are in the academy, you have a better life, and you are just going to leave me like they did. Mother died; father disappeared but we both know he’s dead. Are you really going to abandon your twin sister, your own blood?” her voice bitter with rejection.
“I wouldn’t do that to you ever, you know that.” I choke out, my throat clogged by the guilt.
“Well, you certainly don’t act like it. You act like my existence doesn’t matter, our own parents left and now you are leaving.”
“Okay.” I fumble quickly, exhaling a harsh breath. “I’ll get you the necklace.”
“Thank you.” She exclaims in a high-pitched voice, “make sure to send it before the genetic screening, I want to look drop dead gorgeous.”
“Don’t worry. I love –“
"I'm sorry, sister, I have to go. Goodbye." She quickly gave me the cake and then left our wooden hut.
I didn't know where she was going so late? She knew about the curfew, but I was too tired. I collapsed onto the bed.
"You will be mine! You are destined to not escape!" A wolf in the darkness, its green eyes glaring at me.Its claws reached out for me, and I was so scared that I immediately ran away!"No! I will absolutely not become your mate!""Ah?!" I immediately screamed, then a pair of large hands steadied me."Beatrix," a gentle voice called, giving me a light push, "Wake up." I opened my eyes to see my best friend, Colton. He was a human-werewolf hybrid, bullied just like me.Colton looked at my attire quizzically, his sapphire eyes sparkling in the sunlight like the ocean. "What happened last night? You overslept, unlike your usual self."We had a fixed time to train every day. That was why he came to my home.Lying wasn’t an option with Colton otherwise he would continuously pester me until I revealed the truth and apart of me hated lying to him. Therefore, I spoke the truth, recounting the entirety along with Nathan’s proposal that I denied to his dismay and the way he began touching me in
This week, Ethan didn't continue to bother me, perhaps he was convinced that I wouldn't become the Wolf King's mate, so he was patiently waiting for that day.Tomorrow is the gene screening, thinking about all this, my stomach felt like it was burned by gastric acid.I didn't forget Bonnie's wish, I went to the mall.I called Bonnie, but got her voicemail instead, so I chose to text her that I received her necklace. It was a luxurious piece of jewelry, the necklace was studded with small diamonds, with a large ruby in the center.“Well, well.” A sickening voice I recognised garnering my attention.Lifting my head to meet the wicked Benedict and Kylie. My jaw tenses at their vile faces, Kylie glances at the bag and she chuckles, “Trying to look pretty to entice a mate? Newsflash human, even that necklace wouldn’t be able to help you.”Benedict smirks as they approach me, Kylie snatching the bag from my hand with ease. “I think this would look better on me, no need to waste such beauty
Bellatrix SinclairToday would decide my fate, the genetic screening for the mate selection was taking place. Before I left the medical room last night, Colton had to administer a shot to prevent any swelling for the next forty-eight hours otherwise my face would have puffed like a blowfish. However, like this day, the bruises on my face were unescapable. An ugly swirl of purple and black colouring my cheeks and stretching to my left eye, quickly applying an entire tube of concealer over them.I couldn’t have any imperfections. For the genetic screening, humans were required to be pristine in order to make the choice easier for werewolves. Reiterating the notion that they were truly vain, only caring about appearances instead of what truly mattered.Giving myself a onceover in the mirror, the thick layer of concealer I put on my skin made it impossibly pale, making me appear sickly. Rummaging through the mess on my table, snatching the contour and carving more defined cheekbones, bron
Bellatrix SinclairFuck no, the universe was playing a twisted a game and I wasn’t going to be a part of it.Under the intensity of his intimidating gaze, I declare, “I, Bellatrix Sinclair, reject you, Lazarus de Loughrey, as my mate.”Everyone gasps in shock while I lost all ability to breathe. His obsidian eyes burned with the essence of rage, “You think you can reject me human.” He snarled menacingly, “You are mine if I want you. Humans don’t get to oppose the Mate Selection; you don’t have a choice.”Trepidation was rapidly consuming me from the revelation that I was the Werewolf King’s human mate, however his words had shattered the cloud of dread. Now I was fucking pissed. My blood was boiling, igniting a fire in my belly that spread like wildfire.“And whose fault is that?” I snapped unconsciously with a bitter tone.Lazarus’s eyes darkened malevolently; sparks explode from his fingertips as they curl around my bicep with a punishing grip that I can’t escape from as he drags me
Bellatrix Sinclair“You are not my master.” I rebuffed sharply, yanking my hand away.Rubbing my thighs together that were greeted by dampness. I stood by my words although I would wallow in self-loathing another day. In this moment, I was completely entranced by his malevolent beauty. The personification of darkness in the flesh.“Is that so?” he returned, his orbs glittering with excitement, “I think you might like it.”Arching a brow as my jaw tensed, ‘Why would I want you to control me when your kind has been doing it for centuries.” I seethed, his ignorance only fuelling my hatred.Lazarus’s regarded me through lowered lashes, his callous fingertips caressing my thighs, stretching higher until my dress bunched at the waist. His eyes darted to my lacy panties, “Lies will get you cursed Bellatrix.” He inhaled, shutting his eyes for a second. When he opened them, pupils dilated as they pierced my own. It was magnetic, hot-blooded – dangerous. If I touched the flames, it would destro
Bellatrix SinclairHis features hardened ominously, an eerie silence between us as I refuse to answer. His eyes became a bottomless pit of destruction, controlled in its cataclysm as he examined the bruises. Gently brushing his knuckles against my cheek, the touch soft and delicate like a feather.“Who did this to you?” he asked again in a low voice.Pressing my lips tightly together, swallowing the names. I’m not a fool to think Lazarus cares about me, I’ve begrudged the notion of others saving me. Only I can save myself and I’ve handled the bullying thus far. “None of your business.” I grit through my teeth in response, not meeting his gaze.“I’m giving you one more chance, tell me.” he demands aggressively, “Tell me Bellatrix.”I scoff, frustrated. “I don’t need to tell you anything, it’s none of your business.”I knew my place with Lazarus, a human mate that he only saw as a slave to his desires. “The deal was to give you an heir, not to give you my secrets.” I said, my voice asse
Lazarus de Loughrey“You have a human mate.” Her voice laced with sweet venom, “Now you will produce an heir.”“Time is ticking.” He threatened with a polished tone. “Lazarus, this is your final chance.”“I will fulfil my duties.” I replied mechanically. The other female releases a deranged laugh, her high-pitched voice grating on my nerves. “You’ve said that before. I heard human mates’ fertility skyrockets when mating with a wolf. It’s perfect for breeding, even you can’t fuck this up.”Their voices echoed within the pavilion, their faces concealed within the shadows, they were known as The Syndicate. Comprised of seven Elders graced with immortality, unknown to the public and I was never granted the privilege of seeing their faces or their names.Everyone assumed I wasn’t governed by rules, and that I had access to immeasurable power without consequences. I answer to The Syndicate, I follow their rules and regulations without any voice of my own.I detested the Syndicate, they deem
Bellatrix SinclairStudying the collar closely in the mirror, built of thick metal that wrapped seamlessly around my throat. I felt suffocated the more I stared at it, curling my fingers underneath to search for anything that would unlock it. At the base of my throat I felt a textured square, it felt like a microchip.Lazarus wasn’t lying, there is a bomb in this collar. In the weapons departments, there were many instances that I had to deal with bombs therefore I knew how to get out of this. If I could get the chip out without triggering the bomb, then the collar will unlock automatically.Rummaging through Lazarus bedroom and bathroom for anything that could pry the chip out of the collar. After a solid ten minutes of nothing, I opted for the letter opener at his nightstand. The edges were still sharp, I had to be careful that I don’t apply too much pressure and accidently plunge it into my throat.Returning to the mirror and sliding the letter opener between the gap in my collar u
Bellatrix SinclairStatic thundered in my ears, shifting to white noise. A sharp pain that pierced my muscles, a pounding in my skull as if splitting my brain in half. I barely managed to open my eyes, distorted vision that slowly seeped into chaos. My eyes stretched wide-open, shock tearing through me as I watched the explosion of madness. Pushing onto my knees, fire igniting in my joints and searing my muscles. Only moments ago, I was being crowned Luna. The joy and uncertainty of the future was obliterated, crumbling into complete ruins before my eyes.An excruciating burn tore through my lungs, crushing my chest with every breath. “Lila.....Lazarus.” I rasped, searching for them upon the broken stage but I couldn’t find them past the rubble. The menacing roars from the wolves reached my ears, drawing my attention to the perpetrators. They were covered in black from top to bottom, exposing only their eyes devoid of humanity. There was
Bellatrix Sinclair“Are you nervous?” Lila quizzed, pocking her head through the curtain and scanning the crowd like I’ve been doing every five minutes. “Who are you looking for?”The judges sat on the stage, on the far right. Lazarus and Donovan were seated next to each other, calm and composed, as if yesterday didn’t happen. Animosity brimming to the surface, only visible to the ones who knew the truth. My chest tightened, agony bleeding from the heart strings that tied us together. No one would guess that he confessed his pain last night, the betrayal of his family became an infected wound that would never heal.Suddenly, those pitch-black orbs locked on mine. “I can feel you worrying, Ma Cherie.” His silvery voice teased. “Focus on yourself, the voting is drawing to a close in a few minutes.”Flashing him a blank stare as I frowned. “Are you okay? It cannot be easy.”
Bellatrix SinclairA king should always suppress their resentment, but there is only so much one could handle before it completely devoured their soul. There was no justice in this world, and he knew that better than anyone, The Syndicate managed to take away the only family he had left.Agony chewed at his heart and despair ripped his flesh apart. Lazarus was being consumed by a blackhole of desolation, falling deeper into the abyss until nothing remained but pure rage. None of us knew his wraith, however I suspected it would be a catastrophe for everyone. He disappeared after The Syndicate dismissed him, usually he would have scolded me for breaking the rules. Except, he instructed Christian to escort me back to the palace for the participants. He was trying to endure his suffering, attempt to repress the hatred that was clearly tearing him apart. The only way he knew how to do that was alone. But I couldn’t shake the acrimonious fire surging through my bloodstream, he had every rig
Bellatrix Sinclair“Clearly he underestimated my abilities.” Melody glowered, expressing her disbelief. “It will take alot more to knock us out.”Her voice became distorted by the splitting headache, another side-effect of the sleeping drug that added to the density of my body. “This feels weird.” I grumbled under my breath.I should be freaking out by such foreign sensations of her voice creeping into my mind, yet it strangely felt right. Melody spoke softly, appeasing the hesitation in my soul from this revelation. “You will get used to it eventually. If you find it too intrusive, envision a wall separating us and you won’t be able to hear my voice.”She was providing comfort, trying to ease my acceptance that I was no longer human. I don’t think I’ve fully comprehended that I’m a werewolf, especially one in the prophecy – which I didn’t believe but Lazarus seemed adamant.Christian flicked his gaze to the rearview mirror, a mirage of emotions filtering through his orbs before his f
Lazarus De LoughreyThe Syndicate resided in a castle, atop the mountains that gave the illusion it floated in the sky. It was secluded from the rest of the Kingdom’s, stationed on a vast piece of land without a soul in sight. Although I knew this place wasn’t truly their home, that information was strictly confidential. Now it made sense that whenever I tried to figure out the identities of the other Elder’s - I came to a dead end and that was due to Donovan’s interference.Bellatrix’s curled her fingers into my jacket, bunching the material in a tight grip. She can barely manage to lift her head, shallow pants slipping from her lips. “Lazarus.....what did you do?”I raised her chin, a magnetic collision of those crystalized blues, lids drooping as she fought the drug. “It’s for your own good.” I said, softly.“I’m supposed....to....help.” Her voice faded as she slumped against me.Carefully maneuvering her back to the leather seat, I adjusted the dosage of the sleeping drug to ensur
Bellatrix Sinclair“You shouldn’t be out of bed.” Lazarus chastised, features hardening as he leaned back into the chair.“It’s been almost two weeks, I’ve recovered.” I said sternly. “Don’t think I don’t know what you are up to.”His silence was all the confirmation I needed; the tense atmosphere seeping into his muscles. Not that I blame him, this was a huge betrayal from the only family he had left.Lazarus lifts his gaze to meet mine, arching an eyebrow. “What exactly do you think I am up to?”I sighed, exasperated. “You called for Judah and Valeria. It’s quite obvious that you are planning on confronting your uncle.”“Quite perceptive.” He mused with a smirk.I sucked in a sharp breath, unease curdling in my stomach. “Are you going to tell them about the prophecy and my wolf?”His stare is cryptic, like h
Bellatrix SinclairIn the darkened abyss, this white wolf was radiant – practically glowing like a beacon of hope. She rested her head on her paws; eyes closed like she was sleeping. An invisible force propelled me forward, the further I got – I realized we weren’t entirely alone. This wolf blended with the night, unnoticeable unless you were close. Much bigger in contrast to her, softness in those pitch-black orbs as they focused on her. There was something familiar about this dark wolf, nudging his head gently against hers affectionately. His gaze lifted to mine with equal tenderness. “Finally, you’re awake.”My brows drew together in confusion, “Do you know me?”I’m not sure how I can interpret his expression, clouded by desolation. “You will know me now, because of her.”There was something beautiful about them unlike others I’ve encountered, gleaming with adoration.“Who is she?” I asked curiously, flicking my gaze to our surroundings, “Where are we?”“The answers you seek, he wi
Lazarus De Loughrey“Mate.” Maddox growled, his voice echoing within my mind. This wasn’t an illusion, it was all true. The horrifying screams that vibrated through my body, agony piercing the core of my soul – it was Bellatrix’s cries for help because of the transformation.“You let me hear her voice on purpose.” I marveled, “Mates are unable to hear each other’s voice unless they have marked each other.”Melody embodied fierceness, even in this moment – she was aggressive and a force to be reckoned with – just like Bellatrix. Their souls were intertwined in perfect harmony despite Melody being locked away. She spoke with serenity, a certain warmth that I felt in my heart. “We are a special case; it would have been true if Bellatrix didn’t have any feelings for you, but she is inlove with you.”My heart quickened, elation coiling around my heart. Her expression morphed with pure malice, turning her head towards the target. “No time for that, I can only manage my sanity for a few minu
Bellatrix Sinclair“KILL!” a mysterious voice boomed, bursting my eardrums. “KILL!”The voice penetrated my mind like a thousand needles, and I grabbed my head as every vein screamed in protest, ready to burst. I bit down hard, agony tearing through me mercilessly. It was unescapable, an intense pressure on my chest that crushed my lungs.I choked, banging my chest when every breath burned like acid. “Whats......happening.” I gasped, Thomas’s figure blurring amid the rain and intense fire penetrating my eyes.Something was wrong, something backfired and now my body was rejecting me, desperate to disintegrate my soul into nothing but ashes.Crashing down onto my hands and knees. A raw, violent scream tore from my throat, chaos exploding inside me. “Help me,” I sobbed, barely able to breathe, when something slammed into my chest with brutal force.I coughed blood, fire seared my flesh until all that remained was unimaginable pain. The sickening cracking of bones thundered as my arms jer
