"You don't have much time left, so bid goodbye to your family." The attending doctor's tone was gentle and filled with concern, but the words hit my heart like a huge rock.

Even though I had long guessed the outcome, the rims of my eyes still reddened when I received this "death sentence".

I was only 28. I had worked very hard to survive. However, unexpectedly, the donor heart I had been waiting for was snatched by my wife, who had it transplanted into Sean Morgan, a fake heir who was only suffering from a minor heart disease.

I arrived at Sean's ward in a daze and saw my parents, my wife, Winnie Lowe, and my daughter, Cynthia Morgan, all gathered around him, fussing over him.

Seeing me come in, Winnie, who was helping Sean drink water, immediately put down the glass and came over, asking, "What did the doctor say?"

I looked at her. She immediately avoided my eyes guiltily, stammering and explaining, "It was urgent. If we didn't give Sean a heart transplant, he would have died of pain."

My mom immediately said, "Winnie's right, Klose. Lives are at stake. You can't be so ignorant as to be mad at us over this, right?"

The words I was about to say lingered on my lips, and I said calmly, "I'm not mad. The doctor said there’d be good news in a week."

After a pause, I added, "Good news for all of us."

Winnie's beautiful eyes instantly filled with joy. "A suitable donor heart so soon? I knew the decision we made that day was the right one."

My dad also breathed a sigh of relief and said with a smile, "Sean is so lucky. If you hadn't given him the heart, he wouldn't have been able to survive a week."

My mom nodded repeatedly, gently stroked Sean's hair, and said, "Sean's luck has yet to come to an end. Unlike someone who could have continued to wait for a donor heart, but insisted on making a scene, humiliating the Morgans."

Even though I was already disappointed in them, my heart still ached. I clenched my fists, nearly gnashing my teeth to the point of shattering them. Only then could I calm the tears threatening to burst out of my eyes.

Winnie looked at me tenderly, but her words were icy. "You were indeed too impulsive that day. I think you should apologize to Sean."

I stared at her in disbelief, thinking, 'Sean stole my heart, yet you want me to apologize to him?'

My mom chimed in, "Yeah, he wouldn't have had a heart attack if it weren't for you bullying him that day. You should be thankful he's lying here safely now, or I would never acknowledge you as my son."

I recalled Sean standing in front of me that day, proudly showing off the marks on his neck, bragging about how passionately Winnie and he did it. I could not stop myself from punching him, yet they caught us.

Winnie angrily rushed forward and pushed me away. I was thrown to the ground, and my head was spinning as my mom rushed over to beat me. My dad just stood there indifferently as if he also thought I deserved a lesson.

I then had a heart attack, and I could barely breathe.

My mom nervously asked what was wrong, but Sean suddenly clutched his heart and said it hurt. She immediately threw me aside and ran over to him.

Everyone thought I was faking it and that his was the real deal.

With this in mind, I smiled bitterly and said flatly, "I'm sorry, it's my fault."

No one expected me to apologize so obediently.

Winnie looked at me with a hint of inquiry, a sense of unease growing in her heart.

Sean also frowned, his expression practically saying, "You're being pretentious."

My parents looked at me warily, as if afraid I would cause trouble again.

Only my daughter, Cynthia, threw herself into my arms and said, "Dad, that’s great. You finally admitted your mistake. Don't bully Uncle Sean anymore, or I'll dislike you like Grandpa and Grandma."

I looked down at her. I could tolerate my parents' and wife's indifference, misunderstanding, and favoritism, but the child I raised myself and poured all my love into also favored Sean. This was something I could not tolerate. However, I no longer had the energy to fight this. I gently stroked her face and answered with a smile, "I'll do whatever you say."

My mother nodded in satisfaction and said, "Well, it seems like you've finally learned your lesson, Klose."

Winnie breathed a sigh of relief and said, "My husband has finally come to his senses."

Seeing her feigned affection, I felt a wave of nausea.

Just then, Sean suddenly cried out in pain, and Winnie immediately rushed over.

Cynthia, who had been holding me, also let go and ran over, shouting, "Uncle Sean, where does it hurt? I'll blow on it to make it better."

My parents' eyes reddened with heartache.

Standing in the distance, I looked like a clown. I could no longer stand this atmosphere and left the ward, claiming to be tired.

Winnie and the others rushed to the lab. When the staff heard their purpose for coming, the staff instantly said disdainfully, "So you're the family that that gentleman mentioned?"Winnie and the rest only felt that the gaze falling upon them was like judgment.Lara asked with red eyes, "Where's my son? I want to see my son."The staff member replied icily, "Your son has fallen asleep. According to the regulations, no one is allowed to visit him. Otherwise, the freezing experiment will be interrupted. When that happens, there will really be no possibility of him coming back to life."Lara immediately waved her hand and answered, "No... Don't interrupt the experiment. I... I won't see him anymore. I won't see him anymore.”Winnie had already heard her assistant explain the experiment in detail on the way. She also thought it was far-fetched.However, even if there was a one-in-a-billion chance, she did not want to miss it.With red eyes, she asked, "What did... my husband leave m

Sean suddenly came to his senses. He quickly put away his smile and said in a flustered tone, "How could that be... I... I don't believe Klose is dead. He must be pretending to scare us."However, he was well aware that Klose was indeed dead because he had already received the donor's information in the work group the night before yesterday. It was indeed Klose. However, because there were no photos, he was not sure at first if it was someone with the same name. Now, he was quite certain that the person was Klose. With this in mind, Sean pretended to look pitiful again. He reached out his hand to show Winnie his wrist, where there was a small scratch. He said pitifully, "Winnie, I'm in so much pain..."Before Winnie could say a word, Jorge indifferently asked, "Your mom fainted, but you didn't react at all. You only care about that little scratch. Do you have any compassion?"The assistant had fed Lara a quick-acting pill, but she was still unconscious. However, Sean, whom Lara d

Over at the Lowes' residence, Winnie's hand that was holding the phone kept trembling. She kept watching the video over and over again. In the video, Sean's usually innocent face became distorted and hideous. She never knew that this gentle lamb was actually a terrifying man-eating beast...It was the same for Lara and Jorge. Their eyes reddened as a result. Lara trembled and said, "Honey, we misunderstood Klose. Hurry... Hurry and find Klose. I'm going to tell him that I was wrong... I was wrong..."Jorge sobbed, "I'll call his attending doctor right away. Klose must be with him. He must be angry with us, so he tricked us by saying he was dead. Yes, this must be the case."Winnie nodded and added, "Exactly. Yesterday, he even sent me a message saying that he was fine and asked me not to worry... How could he have passed away three days ago?"Hearing this, Lara breathed a sigh of relief. She asked excitedly, "Really?"However, as soon as she finished speaking, Jorge's and Winnie'

Jorge asked in surprise, "Have you forgiven him?"Lara sighed and asked, "Honey, are we being too harsh on Klose? He has learned his lesson. From now on, let's take good care of him and educate him."Jorge nodded and said, "Whatever you say." He did not dislike Klose that much. After all, Klose's face looked 80% like his. Whenever he saw Klose, he felt as if he was looking at his younger self. If Klose had not been so disappointing, he would not have given Klose the cold shoulder just to teach Klose a lesson. The couple discussed how to make things up to Klose. Little did they know that Klose had already been locked in a chamber. On the other side, after Winnie entered the Morgans' residence, she began to frantically search for Klose. Even after she turned the entire villa upside down, she still could not find him. She kept calling Klose, but no one answered. An unprecedented sense of fear crawled over her heart like a vine.Could something have really happened to Klose? He text

Klose and Sean's mother, Lara Quinn, had given all the villa staff days off before making Klose move over to punish him.Winnie knocked on the door again, her tone softening a little as she said, "Klose, I know you've suffered during this period. I've been thinking a lot these days. I know you hurt Sean because we all don't care about you enough. I'll talk to Dad and Mom and ask them to be more patient with you. Also, Cynthia secretly told me yesterday that she actually likes you very much. She still wants you to be her father and tell her bedtime stories."Winnie spoke a lot until her mouth was dry and her patience was exhausted, but the door in front of her remained motionless. This made her feel a little angry, but she broke out in a cold sweat when she heard her assistant's question. The assistant asked her worriedly, "Ms. Lowe, are you sure Mr. Klose is in there?"Winnie spoke solemnly as if comforting herself, "He has always done whatever I said. If I asked him to come home,

  • Frozen Body, Broken Heart   Chapter 5

When Winnie returned to the villa, Sean was still deep asleep. She worriedly watched him all night until dawn, when the heavy rain stopped.Sean, who had had a good sleep, finally opened his eyes and asked in surprise, "Winnie, when did you come back?"Winnie smiled and replied, "I came back last night. After the family doctor examined you, he said you were too agitated and that your heart was not in a good state. He asked me not to disturb your rest. That's why I didn't wake you up. How are you feeling now?"Sean answered with a smile, "I feel much better after a good sleep." He looked around and asked with feigned concern, "Where's Klose? Didn't he come to see me with you?"It was only then that Winnie remembered that she had left Klose halfway last night. Thinking of the strong wind, heavy rain, and hail last night, she felt a bit regretful. However, on second thought, Klose had always been independent and capable. It was just a taxi ride, so she did not need to worry. She had n
