"Honey," he said softly.

His smile widened. The young master with strong Spanish blood pulled me onto his lap.

"Is something wrong?" I asked.

"There are no such things as problems. Only people who complicate life too much," he replied, then gave me a gentle kiss.

The kiss was soft, nearly erasing the tension that had passed through the room. But I knew Hugo too well. His lips could kiss while locking away the most dangerous truths.

"If there’s no problem," I said quietly, letting my fingers play with the undone buttons on his collar, "why did you turn off the screen earlier?"

He looked at me again. This time, for longer, though with the same gaze. Calm on the surface, alert underneath. He didn’t answer with words. Instead, he brushed my hair back behind my ear, as if that was enough to divert the question.

"Because I’d rather look at your face than a list of strangers from Madrid," he finally said, his voice calm, his hand still cupping my cheek.

I chuckled softly at his answer.
