Change of attitude

Main director's room. I stared at that room for so long that I really didn't think that soon I would meet Daddy again, the man I missed so much.

"Miss. Amber." Someone tapped me on the shoulder, making me a little surprised. When I looked back, I saw Daddy's secretary, Naomi.

"Naomi, you surprised me." I said while rubbing my chest, which was still shocking.

Naomi smiled awkwardly. "MissAmber, why? I saw Miss standing in front of Mr. Jason's room for a long time. Is there anything I need to help you with?" asked Naomi, offering.

I shook my head. "No, Naomi, I just want to make sure that Daddy is in his room," I answered with reason.

"Mr.Jason is indeed in his room; he just came back after the morning meeting. I'm sure Miss Amber will get angry because she's late," said Naomi, scaring me. I was indeed guilty because I came late.

"It doesn't matter; I was guilty. Then, I'll go in first," I said goodbye to Naomi, who was still smiling at me. Suddenly, I remembered that on the same day, I was also late, but that was all because I had to be responsible for a small child who was accidentally hit by the car I was riding in. Only today was different; I was late because I had just come from the hospital to check on my condition.

I tried to knock on the door, and I heard a reply from inside Daddy's room. I entered, and I looked at Daddy's face, who was focused on his files on the table.

"Why did you just come?" I was quite surprised to hear Daddy's question. Even though Daddy hasn't seen my face yet, I'll make sure; maybe Daddy doesn't know it's me.

"Why are you silent, Amber?" asked Daddy, who was still focused on his file. It is true. Daddy, talk to me.

"How did Daddy know that it was me?" I asked questioningly.

Daddy suddenly turned to look at me, and he smiled at me. The smile that I really miss—I really want to cry, but I try to hold it in.

"You're Daddy's child; you've lived with Daddy for years; Daddy knows just the sound of your footsteps, let alone the smell of his perfume," Daddy answered very confidently. I became even more moved by Daddy's words.

"Daddy." Finally, I cried and hugged Daddy. Seeing my strange attitude, Daddy seemed quite confused.

"Hey, Amber, what's wrong with you? Are you sick?" Daddy asked with a worried expression. I can only answer by shaking my head.

"Then, did your lover hurt you?" Daddy asked, but after that, Daddy laughed, as if laughing at his question earlier.

"It looks like that's also impossible; you don't have a boyfriend," said Daddy. Yes, my relationship with Petter is indeed my privacy, but it seems like Daddy is starting to become suspicious of our closeness, and Daddy is more often showing his attitude that he doesn't agree with my and Petter's relationship.

"I miss Daddy," I answered in a hoarse voice. My words made Daddy frown.

"You are indeed Daddy's little princess; Daddy has only been out of town for 5 days; you already miss this so much; it's as if we haven't seen each other for years," Daddy joked, but it made my heart ache.

"That happened, Dad, and I don't want to lose our time together again," I muttered.

"Okay, don't cry anymore; now do your work, and this afternoon we will have lunch together. Daddy also asked Mommy to come," said Daddy, and I nodded my head enthusiastically.

I left Daddy's room, and as I was leaving, I ran into Petter, who seemed to want to hand over some important documents. Petter looked into my eyes; he seemed to realize that my eyes looked puffy from crying.

"Amber, are you crying?" whispered Petter, who I could still hear.

"No, don't interfere, Petter; you'd better do your job immediately," I answered. I immediately left Petter's presence. It felt sick to get that attention from him. When I looked back, I still saw Petter still standing where he was, looking at me with a questioning look.

"Maybe Petter feels I'm different," I muttered. If only I hadn't remembered how evil he was after marrying me, I would have easily melted with that innocent look.

I immediately went into my room, sat, and pondered for a long time, thinking about what was really going on in my life. Is it true that God is giving me a second chance so that I can improve my future and make wiser decisions? At least, that's what I now believe.

It's almost lunch time, but I'm still working on some urgent files. Like it or not, I have to call Daddy and say that I'll come later. I sent a message to Daddy to go with Mummy first, and Daddy agreed.

"Finally finished." I stretched my muscles, which felt tired after sitting all day and staring at the files that I didn't know when they would be finished. I looked at the cellphone screen. There were messages from Petter, Stella, and also Daddy; they all talked about lunch. I would like to reply to Daddy's message that I will be there soon. It didn't take long for me to get to the restaurant where my parents and I had lunch, because it was located close to the company.

"It's better; I'll just walk; the weather isn't that hot either," I said. I chose to walk to the restaurant because the place was opposite the company. When I was about to cross the road, suddenly my legs cramped. I almost fell, but luckily someone caught my body.

"Arrgghhhh!!!" I complained of pain.

"Miss, are you okay?" A man's voice asked me. I just shook my head while groaning in pain.

"Are your legs cramping?" asked the man, whom I don't know yet. I could only answer with a nod of my head.

"Okay, sit here." The man asked me to sit on the side of the road. I looked at the man doubtfully.

"I'll help you; leg cramps hurt a lot, so I understand," said the man reassuringly. Finally, I sat down, straightened my legs, and the man massaged my calves slowly.

"How is it? Is it better?" asked the man.

"Yes, it's better; it looks like my cramps have also healed," I answered. I tried to move my legs slowly, and sure enough, I didn't feel the cramps anymore.

"Thank God it's better." My advice is, if you've been sitting for a long time, don't walk straight away, but try stretching, so you don't get muscle cramps." The man gave me some advice, and I listened carefully.

"Thank you very much for the advice and help. I will always remember that advice." I really thank the man who helped me; if he had been there, I don't know what my situation would be like.

"We haven't met yet; I'm Amber." I dared to introduce myself; at least if the man in front of me and I met again, I wouldn't be confused about calling his name.

"Edwards." The man shook my hand and introduced himself.

"Okay, Amber, since you're fine, I'll excuse myself." Edward said goodbye; maybe someone was waiting for him because, from his appearance, it seemed like he was also a business person.

"Okay, Edward, thank you very much for your help, and be careful," I said to Edward. Finally, that's where Edward and I parted ways.
