LOGINUncle?
I turned my head to face Trent; it was at that moment that I saw the resemblance.
Those shining green eyes.
My gaze went back to my new stranger, and his smile grew even wider before he turned to Trent, and his smile vanished, as if it had never been there.
“Hello, Nephew.”
“Don’t call me that. What are you doing with my wife?” As he said that, his fingers dug into my waist, causing me to wince.
I wanted to say something, but then Trent gave me a glare, causing me to lower my head. I shrank inside because I knew right now it was best to remain silent.
“Well, I don’t think I have to tell you.” His uncle chuckled, “And she won’t be your wife in five months, so remember that.”
I could already feel Trent’s anger beside me, and I was slightly happy; he felt that way.
Now, he would have a taste of his own medicine.
“And by the way, my name is Sebastian. You can ask your husband more about me.” After saying that, he turned to leave.
He was a good distance away when I turned to Trent. “Trent, you are hurting me,” I said, holding his fingers that were digging into my waist.
He looked dazed for a moment before speaking. “Sorry,” He said, removing his fingers and taking hold of my wrist before he pulled me out of the hall.
“We are leaving.”
I wanted to ask what had happened, but thinking back to the previous times I had asked him about work. He had shut me down.
It was best to let him deal with it by himself.
The car stopped in front of the mansion.
“Get down. I won’t be coming back home until tomorrow night.” He said, not bothering to look at me.
I sighed, “Are you going to Bella?” A big part of me hoped he wasn’t, and a smaller part of me wanted him to lie even if he was.
I had already gone through so much in the past days, and I was mentally tired.
“Yes.” He said, and I stepped out of the vehicle.
“Good night,” I uttered, without turning back, and walked into the mansion
On the bright side, I didn’t need to lie to anyone about my whereabouts tomorrow.
Morning came, and just like he had said, Trent never came back home.
After checking my email today, I saw the interview was pushed to midday, and I was glad.
Now I could go for the doctor’s appointment, and ace my interview after this.
“This is your first Pregnancy, Mrs—”
“Just call me Camilla,” I answered, cutting the doctor short.
“Okay. Miss Camilla. This is your first pregnancy, and so far there haven’t been any complications, but due to your underlying hypertensive conditions, you’d need to take care of your blood pressure.” The doctor said, and my throat was heavy.
The hypertension was a result of my marriage, and so many nights that I stayed up late, thinking about how I could please my husband.
“Watch your salt intake, no heavy-duty tasks, and minimal exercise. If your blood pressure spikes up, then it could affect your child.” The doctor explained.
I simply nodded my head in response. Working as a house manager wouldn’t take so much from me, so I could definitely handle it
By the time we were done with all the registrations, check-ups, and tests, it was half past eleven.
I stood outside the hospital, waiting for a taxi, and I was just about to stop one, when something appeared out of the corner of my eye.
A car swerved to the wrong side of the road, and the next thing I heard was a heavy hit into my side, followed by a loud crash, followed by a ringing sound.
My vision blurred, and pain ripped through my throat.
I felt the wetness of blood between my legs, and fear squeezed my heart.
“No! Not my baby.” Tears ran down my eyes. I didn’t know if it was the adrenaline at the moment, but all the pain had vanished while I lay nearly broken on the floor.
The nurses rushed out, and sirens filled my ears.
“It’s so painful.” I cried out, gripping onto the shirt of a nurse, blood staining her attire.
Despite the pain, I could only think of the survival of my baby.
Moments later, I opened my eyes and instantly ignored the banging migraine when I saw the doctor.
“Hey! My baby. Is she alive?” I rose up from my position, wanting to come out of the bed,
Everything still looked blurry, but it wasn’t my concern.
“Miss Camilla. It wasn’t a bad accident, but the car hit the side of your waist. Your husband isn’t around; I should have told him all of this.” I heard the regret in the doctor’s voice, and I wanted to lose my senses.
Tears fell down my eyes before I could form the next thought.
She must have been moved by the tears, because she gave me my bag. “Your baby is alive, Miss Camilla. But you need a blood transfusion immediately, or we might lose the child. “
No. Not my child. Why was this happening to me? I need my phone. I need to call Trent.
Different thoughts filled my head as I took out my phone.
My fingers typed out Trent’s number, and the call connected.
“Trent, please, I need you. I had an accident, and I might lose the child; the doctor said we need a blood donor immediately.” My voice came out, broken by my sobs.
At first there was a loud pause, and then a chilling laughter came from the other side.
“Good riddance. I’m sorry, Camilla, but your child is better off dead. Trent is busy making lunch for me. We had a very long night.”
And the call disconnected. My heart shattered. I tried calling again, hoping Trent would pick up this time, but after five calls, it never connected.
“What do I do now?” I bit down on my lips as my mind raced, then a thought appeared in my head.
I dug into my bag and brought out the card.
The call instantly connected.
“Camilla. What’s wrong?” His voice instantly brought a sense of relief.
“Sebastian. I
need your help, or I might lose my pregnancy. I don’t want to lose it.”
“Send me your location. I’d be there.”

“I’m sorry.” Camilla said, in her soft voice. Once again, she was unable to look me in the eyes, like I was some sort of monster, and I clenched my fists.I had tolerated her presence for four years even though she had forced her way into my life. Why did she have to make me feel bad for it when I provided everything she ever needed. “...Act like a wife sometimes.”The words came out before I could stop them, and when she finally raised her head, the tears I saw drove an arrow into my heart.God. Why was I feeling this way? She was insignificant, and I would be divorcing her soon. The best response would be to leave now, so I can cool my head. But could she stop making things hard for me? I was just a man, and I needed clarity for my business, not a wife that would drive me into an emotional state. As I walked to my partners, my thoughts went to the moment when she had walked down the stairs with that blue dress, hugging her at every curve. How had I not been seeing this? Was she al
The ball was exactly the way I expected. Wealthy men and women, looking for better ways to spend their money, to make them feel special. And I didn’t like it. I wasn’t one to pretend, but it felt like I truly needed to be over here.My hand was in Trent’s, and he pulled me across the red carpet; the cameras flashed, and my nervousness grew. Just when I was about to make a run for it, I felt an arm around my waist, and Trent pulled my body closer. Every part of me shut down, because it felt like there was a plan that I didn’t know. Then his head dipped, and his lips brushed against my ears, sending volts through me, as memories of that night flashed in my head. “Trent…” I whispered for fear of my own heart, but his grip tightened. “Relax, and keep your head up. You look like a frightened cat.” He said in the softest voice, and I swallowed. A frightened cat would be an understatement, so my body relaxed. This was a side of him that I had never seen, and somehow, I felt safe. “Th
The next morning started like any other, and I rushed down to the kitchen, doing my usual chores. Trent’s coffee was out: two spoons of milk, two spoons of creamer, and one sugar cube. It was the way I had been making it for four years, and he had never complained. But I learnt something different last night, and placed a spoonful of vanilla. His footsteps came from the stairs, but I focused my attention on packing his meal. He came back home later, and while scrolling, I stumbled on Bella’s social media page. She had posted a new photo of them in the penthouse. In the past years, I would have cried about it, but now I don't care. “Camilla, I have an event tonight. I need to bring my wife.” Trent’s voice came from behind. I was confused. Why was he telling me? Did he plan to rub it in my face that he’d be taking Bella?“Okay. I’d still prepare dinner; when you are back, you can heat it up.” I muttered, without turning back to him. “What are you talking about?” Trent replied, a
“Camilla, I told you this before: being pregnant means nothing. That night was a mistake.” Trent said, and my step-sister smirked wryly by his side. I couldn’t believe my ears. I knew our marriage was based on a legal arrangement, but something in my heart hoped he would think of my sacrifice and our child.Bella pressed her body closer to him. “Baby, you said the only reason you married her was to get your grandfather’s property, but grandad isn’t around anymore. Are you still going to keep her?”My heart twisted sharply. “The contract said five years.” I bit down on my lips. “Trent, we have five months left. At least honor your grandfather’s wish.” I looked up at him. Almost five years ago, I had saved a man from a ghastly accident, coming back after being fired from my job. He had offered me his grandson as a reward, and there was nothing I did that day, so I had to take the offer, rather than going back to face my father’s wrath.“Shut up, Camilla,” Bella hissed, glaring at me,
