“Of course. We’re not sure of anything yet, so until we gather enough evidence to prove that it’s Lindsey, then we’ll continue to be wary of them. We'll watch our every move, and we'll also make sure that Layland won't end up doing something too troublesome,” I answered Annie.

Annie raised one of her brows. "I'm not too sure about the latter. We both know how Layland is. No matter how many times we try to hold him back, he will always find a way of doing what he wants, and we clearly know what kind of things he wants to do—it's always troublesome."

"I'll try to talk to him. Since we've somehow gotten along and decided to make peace, he might start listening to me now."

"Alright," Annie responded while nodding. "I'll also try talking to him. That kid listens to me, so he might, just might, do what we'll ask of him."

"Thank you," I replied genuinely.

Annie shook her head with a smile plastered on her face. "I should be the one thanking you, Gunner." Annie was looking straight into my ey

“But isn’t Mila the same?” Gunner asked while frowning.“Kind of?” I answered. “There’s just a thin line of difference between the two of them, actually. Lindsey hates me, while Mila dislikes my gender identity and my gender preference. Mila only dislikes me for being gay and liking men, while Lindsey hates me for everything that I am.”“And why do you think that she hates you?”I rolled my eyes. “Isn’t it obvious? It’s jealousy. I have everything that she doesn’t have, so it led her to being jealous of me.”Gunner asked again. “Don’t you think it’s also because of the way you treat her?”“I am only treating her the same way she’s treating me,” I answered in a defensive tone, as I did not like the way Gunner was asking me. I don’t know if it was on purpose, but the way he was asking me sounded like he was implying that I was the main problem, that my attitude and my behavior towards Lindsey were the reason why she was being a bitch and a blabbermouth when, in fact, I was only treating

"What? There was someone rattling to my parents about me?" I asked in bewilderment after finally hearing what Gunner and Annie had been wanting to tell me.We were in the living room. Right after eating and taking my medicine, I did not waste any more time and went straight to asking them what they wanted to tell me. Thankfully, both of them did not let me wait any longer and told me all the information right away. And so now here I am, in total shock of what I just heard. Because what do they mean that someone's been rattling to my parents? That someone was sabotaging my relationship with my parents when it had already been ruined for some time now? Does that mean they want to ruin it even more? Or it's probably for the money again...like always.I scoffed in silence. Why did I have to think of other reasons? Of course it's for the money. It has always been for the damn money. They always chose to either betray me or endanger me for the damn money that my parents could give them."Do

A numerous and gentle tapping on my shoulder woke me up from my deep slumber.I groaned in irritation, and with my eyes still closed, I murmured, "Stop."But the tapping did not stop, and instead, it only went a bit stronger, which made my groaning go louder and my forehead furrow."Come on, Layland. Get up. You've been sleeping for hours," says someone who sounded so much like Gunner...or maybe it really was Gunner.Realizing that, I unconsciously opened my eyes, only to be greeted by Gunner's face so close to me it made me almost shriek. With my forehead still furrowed and my lips pouting, I pushed his face away from me and sat down. "What the hell? Why do you have to be so close?" I said in a hoarse voice but was still clearly irritated.I don't know how long I have been asleep. All I knew was that it still wasn't enough. I was actually planning to sleep for the whole day since I didn't get a decent sleep last night.Ever since I was a kid, staying in a hospital has always been unc

I sensed the guilt and the blame Annie was putting on herself, so I immediately tried to console her by saying, "Don't feel too bad about it. The only one that should be feeling bad is the person who did it, whoever they are. Do you have an idea who it could be?""It could be Lindsey or Mila," Annie answered after a couple of minutes of thinking.I nodded at her response.Lindsey and Mila. The first and only close encounter I had with Lindsey was when she bravely tried to flirt with me and got caught by Layland. Since then, she did not try to come close to me again. I felt her staring at me a number of times, though, but other than that, she did not make a move anymore. As for Mila, the cook, I've never really had a decent interaction or conversation with her. The only times I was able to have a conversation with her were when she asked me if I was allergic to any food or drinks and whenever she would tell me to go eat. And just like Lindsey, I also felt her staring at me sometimes, a

Annie smiled once again but was more genuine and wider this time. "Thank you. Layland is like a son to me, so this means a lot to me too."I smiled back at her. "Layland's lucky to have you by his side.""And so am I," she replied with pure love and adoration. "Anyway, what is it that you wanted to talk to me about?"Before answering her question, I looked around first."Just like you asked, I made sure that all of them were gone before you and Layland arrived," Annie informed me. "So whatever it is you want to tell me, you have nothing to worry about because there's no one here but the three of us."Last night, before Annie left the hospital, I asked for some of her time to talk to her in private. I was actually having second thoughts at first about whether I should be asking her a favor, but after seeing the genuine love and care she has for Layland, I realized that she's definitely the right person I should talk to.And so, without thinking twice anymore, I finally asked her if she
