Chapter 2

Author: Perfect Timing
Yennifer and Moana were still glaring at me, demanding that I apologize.

Sia pretended to play peacemaker, but I could see that she was amused. It was obvious she was enjoying the show.

I glanced at my bedsheet, which was dirtied by her delivery boxes, and I laughed. I asked, "Sia, do you know how much my bedsheet set costs?"

Yennifer let out a scornful laugh. "It's only a bedsheet. Who can't afford one? Sia is a rich girl!"

Moana chimed in. "Exactly. Paying you back is nothing to Sia, but can you afford to pay for all her deliveries? Why don't you compensate each other then?"

Sia's face fell when Moana said that. I could not help but laugh.

My bedsheet was from a luxury brand. My mom had bought them as an extra item to qualify for a designer bag she wanted to buy, and passed them on to my dad and me.

Others might not recognize the brand, but Sia certainly would. She had studied plenty about high-end goods to maintain her rich girl persona while trying to snag a wealthy boyfriend.

I knew she could not afford it.

I could see sweat on her forehead. She was about to speak, but I cut her off.

"Fine. This set cost nine thousand three hundred dollars. How are you going to pay? You can cover it with those deliveries on the floor instead," I said.

"What? Nine thousand and three hundred dollars? Who are you kidding?" Yennifer stammered. She looked shocked at first, but then quickly sneered.

It was no surprise. Back in high school, my parents had warned me not to flaunt my wealth after being relentlessly harassed by a boy; They reminded me to stay as discreet as possible.

Aside from Sia, no one knew I came from money, that I was a true heiress.

Yennifer assumed I was bluffing, and so did Moana.

Moana was hot-tempered, so she immediately said, "That's nothing. I bet one of Sia's packages is worth more than your bedsheet!" She reached for a box as she spoke, ready to tear it open.

Sia turned pale and stopped her. She clenched her jaw and looked at me. "I'll give you the money tomorrow."

I sneered inside.

She did not dare to let Moana open the box. Otherwise, everyone would find out that most of the packages were empty parcels ordered to fake her image as a rich girl.

That vanity was exactly what I planned to use against her.

I took my phone out and opened the payment code before I held it in front of her.

"There's no need for that. Let's settle the score. Since you're so rich, surely you can pay right away?" I asked.

I knew that she could not.

Sia was only an ordinary college student. Her rich girl persona had landed her a wealthy boyfriend, but her allowance was limited. She lived on credit cards and online loans, and she finished splurging on the online promotion day; there was no way she could cough up nearly ten thousand dollars on the spot.

She stumbled over excuses and refused to make payment. Yennifer and Moana exchanged uneasy glances. "Don't tell us you can't afford it, Sia," they said.

Their suspicious looks made her panic. She turned to me for help.

My face darkened.

No one else knew that I had known Sia long before college. Her father used to be my driver and often brought her along during the holidays to deliver gifts. I recognized them the first day I saw them in the dorm, even after he quit.

I had been softhearted in my previous life. I always lent Sia money or luxury items whenever she gave me that pitiful look. It was all out of gratitude for her father.

However, when she stole my identity, those very favors became evidence of my supposed vanity and jealousy.

I was thrown into a psych ward in her body, where I suffered three months of pure despair. Only by overhearing a nurse did I learn that Sia had played a hand in it all.

I could not believe she wanted to act pitiful in front of me. There was no way I would fall for it again after dying.

My gaze fell on the delivery boxes on the floor. I noticed a familiar image on one of the boxes. There was an image of a censer printed on the surface. I smiled casually at Sia.

"Let's settle with your belongings instead, since you don't want to pay. For example, that one. Looks like a censer, right? I've recently taken an interest in incense," I said.

Her expression shifted rapidly. In the end, she agreed because she feared her secret would be exposed.

"Just for one day. I'll buy the exact bedsheet by tomorrow. You have to return the censer to me by then," said Sia.

She gave a long, wary look before obediently stashing her boxes under her bed. She almost looked pitiful.

Yennifer and Moana sat back down, muttering in a mocking tone.

"Some people just love competing with other girls, but the truth is they're just jealous of someone being richer and having a boyfriend who spoils her!" Yennifer mocked.

"I would say that someone regrets it. Remember when Joel Zander used to pursue her? She didn't care back then. Now that Joel is with Sia, she comes after Sia every day," Moana added.

I ignored them. I quickly changed my bedsheet and carefully opened the package.

I did not touch the censer itself, nor did I dare to, but I quietly slipped the instruction manual into my pocket.

I always believed in the saying "knowing is half the battle". I was going to find out what exactly the cursed relic was.

Back then, Sia posted my contact information in the comment section. My phone was blown up by angry strangers. A local thug also saw the clip and broke into my rented apartment at night. I fought him off and escaped, but he turned on me at the police station, claiming I had seduced him. The scandal went viral, and my mom suffered from stress-related illness. My dad's business was also affected. That was the final straw that crushed me. I later discovered that the scandal went viral because Sia bought the views. Even the thug was hired by her to set me up! I was reborn, so I could see through her attempts in trying to use the same tricks again. Unfortunately for her, I would never let her succeed. I looked at her pale face and decisively called the police. "Hello, officer? I'd like to report a crime. My roommate filmed me without my consent. She is suspected of dealing with a thug to sell and spread compromising footage of others," I reported. "No! You can't call the po

Two weeks went by calmly. It felt almost too calm to be true, except for one thing. When I passed by Sia's dorm each day, I would see her stubbornly burning incense and muttering prayers. The stench that was once foul enough to make people gag had been fading gradually. The girls on the same floor thought a rat had died in her room at first. They even asked the dorm matron to investigate. When they discovered it was because of Sia, her rotten reputation sank even further. Somehow, a rumor spread that Sia liked eating dead rats. It sparked ridicule and disgust wherever she went. However, the smell was almost gone. I knew that it was because I had not fallen into her trap. The misfortune she had prepared for me had not stuck. Her scheme was on the verge of failing. I assumed that she would not be able to hold back much longer. Surely enough, two days later, she somehow convinced my other roommate to switch rooms with her temporarily. That night, while I was changing beh

The next day, gossip about Sia spread through campus like wildfire. It was her getting judged instead of me. They said she was vain, malicious, fake, and had a bad personality. All the labels that stuck to me in my previous life were glued onto Sia. I ran into her once while I was eating with Serena. She looked drained, her shoulders hunched as if she wanted to disappear. Serena poked at the food on her tray and scoffed. "Ha! Serves her right. She pretended to be a sweet and rich girl, and now she's been exposed. Karma, am I right?" Serena asked if I felt satisfied, but I only smiled and shook my head. Ever since moving into my new dorm, I have been going out with my roommates. We ate together, played murder mystery games, and went to karaoke. I finally felt how joyful college life was. Sometimes I wondered if, in my previous life, I had been roommates with Serena from the start, maybe my ending would not have been so tragic. Unfortunately, my good mood did not last long.

Sure enough, the crowd at the door grew bigger. Sia dug her heels in and started putting on a full-blown performance. "I know you're still upset at me for dirtying your bedsheet the other day, Luna, but you said if I paid you nine thousand and eight hundred dollars, you'd forgive me. I paid. I'll apologize again if you're still unhappy, okay? I do treasure you as a friend," she said. She sounded sincere, like some loyal friend trying to make peace, but every word was used to smear my name. The onlookers started murmuring just like that. "Jeez, nine thousand and eight hundred dollars? That's robbery! Only a rich kid like Sia would be dumb enough to pay that…" "Sounds like a scam to me. What kind of bedsheet costs that much? Was it made of gold? No wonder people say Luna has a bad personality. I guess it's true." "I'd slap myself before I pick a fight if I had such a generous friend, but Luna still wants to move out? How unreal!" The whispers grew louder. Several people use

It was true that good students were given special treatment. I insisted that I could not live with Sia anymore. Since I was the only one from my department who had qualified for the big competition, both the school and the faculty valued me highly. In the end, the counselor agreed to let me move in the end. When I came back to the dorm that afternoon, Sia was humming to herself while putting on makeup in front of the mirror. I opened my suitcase and began packing. It was not until I rolled my quilt up that she finally realized something was off. "What are you doing, Luna?" she asked. "The counselor approved my room change. I'll be moving to the room next door," I replied with a smile. Right then, three girls from the next dorm walked in while grinning. They said, "We're roommates now, Luna! We'll help you carry your belongings." I smiled gratefully and said, "Thanks. Dinner's on me tonight." I picked up my belongings and was ready to leave. That was when Sia finally rea

  • Game Over, Evil Roommate   Chapter 5

"Sia! What on earth are you doing?" Moana gave Sia a light nudge. The nudge broke her ritual. Sia snapped her eyes open and glared at Moana with pure malice. Moana was startled, so she stepped back a little. Her voice became softer when she asked, "What are you burning, Sia? The smell is way too strong." Sia carefully packed the censer away and replied impatiently, "What smell? You're overreacting. The room hasn't been aired out all night, so of course it stinks. Just open the window if you can't stand it." They usually got along, but Yennifer and Moana were angered by her dismissive tone. The three of them were quarreling loudly soon after. Yennifer was flushed red with frustration in the end. She turned towards me and said, "Say something, Luna! Don't you think it smells awful too?" I smiled. It had been me who stood up to Sia in the previous life. Yennifer and Moana kept quiet while I led the fight, even though they hated the smell too. Later, I argued with Sia in
