Game Over, Evil Roommate

"You're so stingy, Luna Hill. Sure, your bedsheet got dirty, but how could you throw Sia's belongings on the floor?" The voices around me pulled me back to consciousness. The terror of being shoved from the 33rd floor had not faded. My knees buckled and I clutched my chest, crouching in pain. That was when I realized, with horror, that I had been reborn. The girl in front of me flinched. "What are you doing? I'm warning you! Don't you dare fake an injury to extort me!" she warned. I looked around. The small dorm was packed with delivery boxes, and three girls stood in front of me, glaring at me angrily. One of them was someone etched into my memory forever. She was Sia Lowe, my roommate, the girl who had pushed me off the building and tried to steal my life! Sia was known on campus as the rich and beautiful girl, but only I knew the truth. Her family was average, and she was living from paycheck to paycheck. Sia would splurge online every year during online promotion day

I finished showering that night and stepped out of the bathroom. I had only opened the door when Sia slipped inside. She wore a pitiful expression. "Luna…" she said pitifully, trying to play the victim. I glared at her and asked, "What is it?" "N-Nothing," she stammered. "If it's nothing, leave," I said. I moved as if to push her out. Sia panicked and bit her lower lip. She sobbed and asked, "Are you upset with me, Luna? Why are you targeting me? You know my family isn't well-off, so why did you make me pay for your bedsheet? "Your bedsheet costs me an entire year's living expenses. You don't even need the money, so why can't you just let it go? Are you doing it on purpose to humiliate me?" I was stunned. I could not believe anyone could be so shameless, and yet, judging by her expression, she truly felt discriminated against. I had no patience for her games, so I simply admitted it. "Yes, I look down on you, and I am targeting you. So what?" I asked. Her expressio

"Sia! What on earth are you doing?" Moana gave Sia a light nudge. The nudge broke her ritual. Sia snapped her eyes open and glared at Moana with pure malice. Moana was startled, so she stepped back a little. Her voice became softer when she asked, "What are you burning, Sia? The smell is way too strong." Sia carefully packed the censer away and replied impatiently, "What smell? You're overreacting. The room hasn't been aired out all night, so of course it stinks. Just open the window if you can't stand it." They usually got along, but Yennifer and Moana were angered by her dismissive tone. The three of them were quarreling loudly soon after. Yennifer was flushed red with frustration in the end. She turned towards me and said, "Say something, Luna! Don't you think it smells awful too?" I smiled. It had been me who stood up to Sia in the previous life. Yennifer and Moana kept quiet while I led the fight, even though they hated the smell too. Later, I argued with Sia in

Sure enough, the crowd at the door grew bigger. Sia dug her heels in and started putting on a full-blown performance. "I know you're still upset at me for dirtying your bedsheet the other day, Luna, but you said if I paid you nine thousand and eight hundred dollars, you'd forgive me. I paid. I'll apologize again if you're still unhappy, okay? I do treasure you as a friend," she said. She sounded sincere, like some loyal friend trying to make peace, but every word was used to smear my name. The onlookers started murmuring just like that. "Jeez, nine thousand and eight hundred dollars? That's robbery! Only a rich kid like Sia would be dumb enough to pay that…" "Sounds like a scam to me. What kind of bedsheet costs that much? Was it made of gold? No wonder people say Luna has a bad personality. I guess it's true." "I'd slap myself before I pick a fight if I had such a generous friend, but Luna still wants to move out? How unreal!" The whispers grew louder. Several people use

Two weeks went by calmly. It felt almost too calm to be true, except for one thing. When I passed by Sia's dorm each day, I would see her stubbornly burning incense and muttering prayers. The stench that was once foul enough to make people gag had been fading gradually. The girls on the same floor thought a rat had died in her room at first. They even asked the dorm matron to investigate. When they discovered it was because of Sia, her rotten reputation sank even further. Somehow, a rumor spread that Sia liked eating dead rats. It sparked ridicule and disgust wherever she went. However, the smell was almost gone. I knew that it was because I had not fallen into her trap. The misfortune she had prepared for me had not stuck. Her scheme was on the verge of failing. I assumed that she would not be able to hold back much longer. Surely enough, two days later, she somehow convinced my other roommate to switch rooms with her temporarily. That night, while I was changing beh
