“We should have reached the Blackthorn Pack by now.” Viktor said with an impatient tone as his sharp eyes scanned the forest that was slowly darkening.

We had planned to reach Blackthorn before nightfall, but with the rough terrain slowing us down, it became clear we wouldn’t make it in time.

I exhaled slowly, gripping the reins.

“We’ll set up camp here for the night,” I ordered, pulling my horse to a stop and

turning to the rest of our troupe following closely behind.

Viktor, my Beta and most trusted friend, nodded. “I’ll have the men secure the perimeter.”

I dismounted, stretching my stiff limbs as my men moved efficiently around me, setting up the tents and lighting small fires.

As the Crown Prince of the Lycans, I was expected to attend the betrothal ceremony of Luna Odessa’s daughter—a political alliance meant to strengthen ties between our kind and the strongest werewolf packs.

My father, King Jon, had insisted I attend. I don't know why he never turns down an invite from Luna Odessa.

He had suggested choosing a mate at the ceremony since different strong packs would be in attendance.

But I had no interest in forced betrothals. My mate was out there, and no other woman would ever take her place.

“Prince Dante,” Viktor, called as he approached. “We should remain cautious. The Nightfall Pack’s borders are not far, and rogue activity has been reported in these woods.”

The Nightfall pack was our greatest rival. Alpha Asher and I don't see eye to eye because of his arrogance and narcissistic behavior and his father and my father were great enemies, though I don't know the history behind the enmity.

He should be in the Blackthorn pack already for his betrothal ceremony.

But this is still within his territory and all caution needed to be taken

I nodded at Viktor, running a hand through my thick hair. “Keep the men on high alert.”

Viktor bowed his head in understanding before turning to relay my orders.

My wolf, Kai, paced within me, his agitation growing with each passing second.

“I can sense it. Something isn't right”

“Sense what?”

“I don't know, Dante. Just let me out!” He growled.

“Kai…”

“We need to go. Now!” His growl was more anxious this time, cutting me off.

I sighed. Kai was a powerful beast—strong, ruthless, and untamed. He never acted this uneasy unless there was a real threat.

And I had learned to trust his instincts.

I turned to Viktor. “Keep watch. I’m going for a run.”

He looked at me, concern flickering in his sharp eyes. “This isn’t our territory. Rogues could be lurking.”

I gave him a pointed look. “I can handle rogues.”

Without waiting for his response, I stepped away from the camp and stripped off my clothes allowing Kai to take over.

My bones cracked and reshaped, muscles expanding as thick black fur covered my skin.

Within seconds, Kai stood in my place, his deep blue eyes glowing in the dark.

My claws dug into the earth as I dropped onto all fours, my senses heightening instantly.

With a loud growl and a powerful leap, I charged into the forest allowing the wind to brush against my fur.

I kept running, allowing Kai to lead the way.

All of a sudden—Kai froze.

Then, I smelled it.

A scent so sweet and intoxicating. Unlike anything I’d ever encountered.

Everything in me stilled for half a second before another scent crashed into my senses.

A low growl rumbled in my chest.

She's in danger.

Kai didn't hesitate. He ran. Faster than I had ever seen him.

The trees blurred past until I burst into a small clearing—and saw them.

Two rogues.

And her.

She was small and slender, her long hair matted with dirt. Her dress was torn, revealing her battered body, her arms raised in defense, bracing for the inevitable attack.

Rage, unlike anything I have ever felt ignited inside me.

Before the rogue could land its attack, I jumped forward. My teeth sank into its neck, breaking the bone effortlessly. Its head fell to the ground, lifeless.

The second rogue turned to flee, but I was faster.

Wrong choice.

No one touches what’s mine and walks away free.

I tore through its throat, silencing its pathetic whimper before it could escape.

Blood splattered on the ground, but I didn’t care.

All I cared about was her.

Silence fell.

I turned, my gaze locking onto her.

She had lowered her arms from her face, her eyes wide with shock and fear. But as our eyes met, my breath caught.

Green. Deep, endless, and beautiful.

Even in her disheveled state, she was breathtaking.

A sharp jolt went through my chest.

The beast in me, the one that craved blood and battle, softened in her presence.

Mate.

I had spent years searching for her, imagining what she would look like, how it would feel to finally find her. But nothing—nothing—could have prepared me for the reality of seeing her in front of me, fragile and shaken.

I took a slow step forward. “Are you alright?”

She didn’t respond immediately. Her eyes flickered down to the bloodied rogues on the ground, and my chest tightened.

Was she scared of me?

Kai rumbled in frustration. She should never fear us. We are hers.

I waited for her to scream, to recoil in horror.

But she didn’t.

She barely had time to react before her body swayed.

I moved immediately, catching her before she collapsed to the ground. Her weight was nothing in my arms, but the sight of her—exhausted, weak, and helpless—ignited a deep, uncontrollable rage within me.

What could have put her in this state?

And why is she alone in this dangerous forest?

Could she be from the Nightfall pack?

Series of questions ran through my mind but no one to answer them.

My fingers wrapped around her protectively as I turned back toward the camp.

Viktor was the first to see me. His eyes widened. “What the—”

“Get the doctor,” I snapped.

He didn’t argue.

I carried her inside my own tent, laying her carefully onto the soft bedding. Her body was thin, too thin. Dirt and dried blood stained her skin, and the sight made Kai snarl in my mind.

The doctor arrived moments later, an older Lycan with years of experience. He examined her carefully before nodding.

“She’s exhausted, but she’ll recover with rest. It looks like she’s been through a great deal today.”

No shit.

I clenched my fists.

What had happened to her? Who had hurt her?

The thought made my blood boil.

I sat beside her, watching the slow rise and fall of her chest.

She was so small, so fragile, yet I could sense something strong hidden beneath her weak frame.

My mate.

I had waited for so long.

And now that I have found her…

I would never let her go.

She was mine to protect now.

"This isn't how I pictured our next meeting," Jon said, his voice low as he took a step closer to me.I kept my expression guarded, refusing to show the shiver that ran down my spine.I turned to address the servants and guards. "Leave us." I commanded sharply. They left, but Jon's guards remained. When I raised an eyebrow at him, he smirked, the corner of his mouth lifting in that infuriatingly confident way, then waved a casual hand at the guards. They too, left. And just like that, we were alone. Jon gave a short, mocking laugh. "Are you going to stand over there to talk to me, Odessa? What, you like being above me? I knew being a Queen would suit you." Slowly, I began to walk down the steps of the dias, My chin lifted slightly, until I was on the last step, and less than two feet away from him. I stood straight, and stared him straight in the eyes as he casually stared at me. "You still feel it," he said after a long beat of silence. Yes, Diane whispered to me. "I don't know

As I walked, I was quiet, my face was calm, my lips pressed into a thin line pretending not to notice the ashen faced man walking beside me. Raymond hadn't been able to take his eyes off me since the moment he saw me. His reaction at first was so extreme it was almost comical. He'd actually stumbled, his steps faltering, and then stood frozen and gaped at me like a fish out of water. Standing in front of him like she was, Odessa hadn't noticed. In fact, looking at them both, it seemed like she barely noticed him at all. They stood close together, but their body language hinted at something else. They might want to paint a picture of unity, but I knew them both. It was all an act. I scoffed quietly under my breath. Raymond glanced at me again. Finally, we arrived at the door of the room I guessed I'd be staying in. "You can leave now," Raymond said to the servants who had accompanied us, his voice, firm and low. They bowed and left immediately. I decided to acknowledge him for the

By the time we got back to the palace, my heart was pounding, and I was jittery with nerves. As I swung down from my horse, I wondered if it was because of the impending war, or because I'd be seeing him again. Jon.Even the thought of his name did things to me. A servant hurried out of the palace to us. He bowed as he reached us. "Where are they?" I asked, striding forward. "They've been ushered into the throne room, Your Majesties." "Good," I said, speeding through the palace, Raymond behind me. When we got to the side door to the throne room, we both paused, and took deep breaths to compose ourselves. "How do you think this will go?" Raymond asked quietly. "Only one way to find out," I muttered, pushing the door open and striding in. My eyes were drawn to him like magnets. Jon was exactly how I remembered him, but also seemed to have changed. He was larger than life, and oh ever so handsome. My body responded immediately, though I kept my expression passive as I walked up

The darkness was suffocating. It seeped into my pores, punishing, making me feel like I would explode in the next second if I didn't let it all out. I needed an outlet. Kai was fighting in my head, trying to get out. My control was slipping. Honestly, it should have slipped a long time ago. Only the knowledge of what she expected of me kept me from losing it. "Don't destroy the Lore. Promise me..."The memory of her voice was like a dagger to my heart. Kira... My Kira... Where are you? I moved with the shadows, welcoming their touch on my skin. My wraiths led the way to the place I needed to go. Kira had told me to search for her. To not let her go. So I wouldn't. As I got closer to my destination, the pull of death became stronger, making the wraiths surrounding me feel more insubstantial. Being this close to the gate without being sucked in should have been impossible for them, but their ties to me kept that from happening, even if I also felt the pull. I passed through a dark

  • Gifted With Two Wolves: Fated To Two Rival Kingdoms    Chapter 121: Mira's POV

The first thing I noticed when I opened my eyes was the energy pulsing around me. It felt strange and deadly, but familiar at the same time. Like the weight of my favorite and sharpest dagger. It could kill you, but it was yours. But in this case, I felt like it was the other way around. I was in a dark room, and I didn't have to turn my head to know that there was something in here with me. Slowly, I sat up in the narrow bed I lay on. At first I wasn't sure what I was staring at. I squinted. In the corner of the room was a thick miasma that looked like it was made up of thick, sickly looking shadows. "You're awake," an eerie voice said, startling me. "Good.""Who are you?" I asked fearlessly, staring at the miasma. The voice coming from it was somewhat feminine, and it laughed. "Mira, daughter of the Cold One," it said. "I've waited a while for this."I glanced around the room, looking for anything I could use for a weapon. The room was bare. I called for Zaram in my mind. Ther

There was darkness. Not the kind that feels peaceful, not the kind that comes after a long day and wraps you in comfort. No. This one was Heavy and breathless. It was Cold and eerie like something had dead. I didn’t know where I was, or if I was even me anymore. Then finally voices. They sounded like whispers that danced in the night wind through the trees, it sounded soft, indistinct. And then a flicker…. Light, just enough to outline a figure ahead of me. It was of… Him.A man.The same man I had been seeing in my dreams for the past couple of days. I couldn’t see his face, but something inside me knew him. Or had known him, once. My lungs squeezed tight as I took a shaky step forward in a bid to see his face or at least what he looked like. My fingertips tingled, reaching for him. I didn’t understand why, but my heart was beating like it was running toward him.His eyes were blue and hurt and angry yet broken in a way I couldn’t understand .it felt like a dying sun. Like hea
