Chapter 106

Kimberly:

I was pacing back and forth in Ethan's study, too nervous to sit still. John was supposed to be bringing the files that could take down my wicked uncle Greyson once and for all. Those records contained evidence of every illegal deal and crime Greyson had committed over decades. With that paper trail, we could finally make him pay.

Ethan was sitting calmly at his desk, scanning through some documents. But I could see the tightness around his eyes that showed his tension. We had been waiting for hours for John to arrive with the files.

Just as I was about to ask Ethan what was taking so long, his phone buzzed. He answered it quickly.

"Yes? ...What? When?" His face drained of color as he listened. "Understood. I'm on my way."

He hung up and looked at me gravely. "There's been an incident. We need to go. Now."

My heart dropped into my stomach as we rushed out to his car and peeled out of the driveway, heading downtown with Ethan driving like a madman. Something was very wrong.
