Chapter 4

作者: Moore
The pups were having so much fun that even when evening came, they didn't want to go home.

The moment Katrina and James thought of how I'd bombard them with questions, make them do homework, and insist on crafts, they dreaded going back.

Zoe suggested going to the beach the next day, and they were thrilled.

"Daddy, can we not go home tonight? We could rent a suite by the beach and watch the sunrise tomorrow?"

"If we don't go back, your mom will be sad," Zoe said gently. "Besides, your dad and I aren't mates. We can't stay in the same room together."

"Why not?" James tilted his head in confusion.

Grabbing Zoe's hand and placing it in Ethan's, he said, "Daddy, can't you be Zoe's mate? Then we could all stay in one room.

Ethan frowned and glanced at Zoe, who was blushing furiously. He didn't pull his hand away.

Yet, he lowered his head and looked at his son.

"Your mom is my only mate. Don't say things like that," he said solemnly. "And if we're going to the beach tomorrow, we should invite your mom too—unless she says no. That's the polite thing to do. Got it?"

Zoe froze, then plastered a smile on her face.

"Yeah, James. Your mom is still your dad's mate. I can't share a room with your dad."

Lowering his head, James thought for a moment and said seriously, "But Daddy, I don't want Mommy to come. She nags too much, and it'll ruin our fun. Can't you make her say no?"

After a brief pause, Ethan agreed. "Sure."

He'd always thought I was the accommodating one. As long as he asked me to do something, he believed I'd go along with it without question.

If he didn't want me to go, he was sure I wouldn't insist.

At 9:00 pm that night, the four of them finally came home.

When Katrina and James realized I wasn't waiting for them in the living room, they were slightly disappointed.

They thought even if I wasn't going to come with them tomorrow, it would've been nice if I'd at least stayed up to read them bedtime stories.

Ethan was a bit surprised, too. Usually, no matter how late he took the pups out, I'd always be waiting in the living room when they got back.

I'd check them for any scrapes or bruises and ask what they'd eaten and done that day. Then I'd personally help them bathe and read them stories.

But tonight, I wasn't around.

Still, Ethan didn't dwell on it too much. He simply instructed the nanny to help the pups with their baths.

Zoe had wanted to chat with him, but seeing how tired he looked, she hurried off to her room instead.

Ethan headed upstairs. He opened the bedroom door, then frowned at the sight before him.

The room seemed much emptier than usual, and I was nowhere to be seen.

Ever since giving birth, I'd rarely left the villa. Where could I possibly be at this hour?

He asked Bill about my whereabouts, then Bill handed him the envelope on the nightstand.

"Luna Aria left this afternoon with her suitcase. She asked me to remind you to sign this agreement."

Unease gripped Ethan. He quickly tore open the envelope, and as soon as he saw what was inside, his eyes widened.

Inside the envelope was a Bond-Breaking Agreement.

He couldn't believe I was going to break our bond.

  • Going, Going, Gone   Chapter 10

As Katrina and James caused a scene, I completely ignored them and kicked them out of my shop. Ethan stayed outside with them for a long time, waiting in vain for me to relent. But I never did. In the end, he had no choice but to take them back to the Snowfang Pack. Life after that was far from easy for them. Because of my departure, Ethan was utterly lost. Every corner of the villa seemed to be filled with my traces, reminding him that I wasn't just someone dispensable. Without me, his life fell completely apart. No one would remind him to take his meals on time or to carefully coordinate his outfits every day. He had to handle all the tedious things on his own. All the furnishings arranged just so, the delicious meals, the perfectly managed staff—these were things that required a true she-wolf of the household to keep in order. Taking care of the pups turned out to be exhausting beyond belief. They had to be coaxed into doing everything—eating, bathing, and even sleep

Yet, Ethan was unwilling to give up. He came to my flower shop several more times, trying to persuade me. But when he saw how unyielding I was, he could only leave in frustration. A week later, he brought Katrina and James with him. The moment the pups saw me, they ran into my arms crying. "Mommy, we missed you so much!"Both of them had lost so much weight. All the healthy weight I'd worked so hard to help them gain was gone… and there were still traces of rashes on Katrina's skin from her allergic reactions. My chest tightened. Despite myself, I couldn't help but feel sorry for them. I bathed them, and it took two full basins of water to clean them. Then I dressed them in clothes that actually fit. "We're finally alive!" Katrina and James beamed at me, relieved. Then they rushed into my flower shop. "Mommy, we want to eat your nutritious meals!"I hesitated for a moment, but eventually agreed. When I'd finished cooking an entire table of dishes and invited Can

I walked out of the flower shop and led Ethan to the cafe next door. He stayed silent for a long time before he finally spoke. "So you ran away from home just to open a flower shop here?" he asked, his tone tinged with disbelief. "You could've told me if you like flowers. All you had to do was say the word, and I'd open ten shops for you back in the Snowfang pack."Of course he was capable of doing that. But in the eight years we'd been together, he'd never once given me a single flower. Sometimes, when he noticed me lingering for an extra moment in front of the little girls selling flowers on the streets, he'd just say those things had no value. "If you like pretty things, I can give you a moonstone bracelet instead," was what he said. But for a she-wolf constantly occupied with housework, when would I ever have the chance to wear a bracelet? In the end, the moonstone bracelet caught Zoe's eye, and Ethan had handed it to her without a second thought. "You never wear it a

At the same time, Katrina clung to Ethan's leg. After a long silence, she finally murmured, "Daddy, I don't want Zoe to be my mommy anymore. I want my real mommy!"James nodded vigorously and chimed in, "Zoe is nice, but she doesn't know how to cook delicious food. She also never remembers which foods I'm allergic to. She doesn't tell us bedtime stories either."Katrina glanced up, her eyes brimming with tears."Zoe doesn't play with us anymore," she sobbed. "All she does is lock us up in our rooms. She thinks we're too naughty and we'll ruin her furs and jewelry, so she doesn't allow us to go out. She even fought with Daddy when I got sick. She's so scary!"As our pups spoke, their voices began to crack. "Daddy, please bring Mommy back! I'll never say I want a different mommy again!"Ethan stared at them in silence, his hand gently stroking their heads. After a long pause, he finally said, "Alright."My absence had pushed him to the brink. He wanted to bring me back more tha

Not long after, Bill hired a nanny to take care of Katrina and James. Ethan, on the other hand, finally pulled himself together after two days. He had no choice but to go to work.Without me around, every day felt like torture to him. Breakfast never tasted right. Each morning, he'd scramble around, struggling to put together a decent outfit. And every time he opened his eyes, all he heard was the commotion caused by the pups. Zoe had already moved out of the villa. She never came looking for Ethan anymore. That night, Ethan was so busy that he didn't get home until nearly midnight. As soon as he stepped inside, Bill brought the nanny to him. "I'm sorry, Alpha Ethan. I don't think I'm fit for this job," Maria Hobbs quavered, handing in her resignation letter. "The pups are too much to handle. They have endless demands, and even the shape of their food has to be exactly the way they want it. The worst part is—they're allergic to so much food, yet they refuse to listen and i

  • Going, Going, Gone   Chapter 5

All night, Ethan sat there, staring blankly at the Bond-Breaking Agreement. We'd been mates for eight years and hardly ever fought. I'd always been gentle and obedient, putting his wishes above everything else. I also poured all my heart and soul into raising our pups. It had never occurred to him that someone as soft and compliant as me would just leave behind a Bond-Breaking Agreement and leave. Ethan sat on the couch, desperately trying to figure out where things had gone wrong. But for some reason, ever since learning that I'd left, his mind felt muddled. He couldn't think of anything at all. He got up and walked over to the table for a glass of water. But when he picked up the flask, it was completely empty. A knot began to form between his brows. Whenever he used to reach for his cup, the water inside had always been at just the perfect temperature. Then it hit him—I wasn't there anymore. Just as he was about to call for Bill, Katrina's cries echoed from downstair
