Nathan’s POV

Still, he tries one last-ditch effort at postponing the inevitable, or avoiding it altogether, by talking about the last thing he should be talking about if he's interested in getting into Ralph's good books.

"I was recently divorced, before I fell in love with and married my new wife." He says in a desperate bid to change the subject and make Ralph forget that he was supposed to introduce his new wife.

"Is that so?" Ralph asks, his jaw becoming slightly clenched.

"Oh, yes. She left me and requested nearly everything I had. It's the major reason my company went bankrupt, and I need help. You know how unfair our justice system can be towards men. However, because I knew the importance of having a good woman by one's side, I had to give love a chance again. I'm glad I did, because now, I have a beautiful daughter. She's my whole world. They both are." Austin says, in full suck up mode.

"That's great, and I'm happy for you. In any case, it will be rude of me as a host not to

  • Goodbye Ex, Go to Hell!   Enraged

Nathan’s POV"For nearly three decades, my wife and I carried one of the heaviest burdens that no parent should have to bear. It was a burden of guilt, sorrow, and anguish that nothing, no amount of wealth or time, could get rid of. Many people knew about the story I'm about to tell at the time, because we blared what had happened to all and sundry, in the hopes that someone would know something, or perhaps, notice something that would lead us to search in the right direction.” Ralph begins, his voice choked with emotion. The crowd is quiet now, so much so that I can swear that if not for the fact that Ralph is talking, one would be able to hear a pin drop.He goes on to tell the crowd about the events surrounding Lucy’s birth in a solemn voice and how she disappeared from the hospital within minutes of her birth, and how he and his wife spent a huge amount of resources and spent the past almost thirty years searching for answers that never seemed forthcoming, but they never gave up h

  • Goodbye Ex, Go to Hell!   A weird meeting

Nathan’s POVSeeing Diane at this event, especially as she wasn't invited, leaves me with an unsettling feeling. She seems like she’s up to no good, which is nothing new for her, come to think of it.Seeing Lucy’s ex-best friend, Amy, with her is even more unsettling because the combination of those two, especially if they become friends, is going to be deadly as hell.Luckily, Diane, being the kind of person that she is, doesn’t seem remotely interested in being friends with Amy, and if anything, even seems irritated by her overfriendliness.Anyway, the only person I need to focus on today is the star of the show … Lucy, so I go in search of her.I find her being tended to by her mom, her friend, Amanda, and a stylist, who’s putting finishing touches to her looks.“Nathan dear, don’t you think she looks beautiful?” Lucy’s mother asks me as I come into the room, causing her daughter to flush noticeably.“She’s the most beautiful woman I've ever laid my eyes on, Auntie. No offense to y

Diane’s POV“Diane, what are you doing here, and what’s going on between you and my sister? What did you say to her to get her crying so hard?” Nathan’s voice comes a few seconds after Doris leaves.I look away from the departing backs of Doris and her mother to find Nathan standing behind me, towering over me with an accusatory look that I sure as hell don’t care for in his eyes.“What do you mean? I didn’t say anything to her. I only said ‘hi,’ and she went bonkers because of some dumb stuff that happened when we were young and stupid. I’m done trying to mend fences with her, but she's refused to grow up, so no one should ask me any stupid questions.” I spit at him angrily, surprising him.I’ve been irritable lately, no doubt, due to the pregnancy hormones. Damn! I really can't understand people who do this shit over and over again.Since I got knocked up, I always feel like crap, and it's only going to get worse until I give birth. As soon as this kid is out of me, I'm going to hav

  • Goodbye Ex, Go to Hell!   No middle ground

Diane’s POVFor several moments, Doris doesn’t say anything, but I can see that she's lost in thought, and doesn't even seem to really see me.She just stares at me unblinkingly and unseeingly with years of suppressed rage in her eyes, until I unconsciously take a step back.“You killed him! You fucking killed him!” She suddenly screams at me out of the blue, immediately attracting the interested gazes of those around us, and causing me to cringe.“What the fuck are you doing? Stop screaming so loudly! We're in public, for crying out loud!” I exclaim quietly and urgently, but she either doesn’t hear me, or she doesn’t care.I do care, though, because the last thing I need on my hands is a scandal involving something that's going dead and buried.“You think I'm a fool, all because I kept quiet all these years? Well, let me tell you something. You're very wrong. I know everything, you fucking piece of shit! I saw your fucking messages on Andy’s phone!”“Honey, please keep your voice dow

  • Goodbye Ex, Go to Hell!   False accusation

Doris’s POVSince I couldn’t understand anything he was saying, I prepared to rush down to his dormitory, but when I got outside my apartment, I saw him sitting in front of the gate in the dark like a pale ghost, staring at his phone.“Jeez! Babe, you scared me! Why didn’t you knock and come in?” I exclaimed, moving closer to him, even though I knew he probably didn’t knock because he didn’t want to face Diane and her hostility. He didn’t look up as I approached, but instead, continued staring fixedly at his phone. He was watching a video of some sort, with no sound.Slowly, I reached out my hand to take the phone from him. This move seemed to break the trance that he was in, and he tried to stop me from taking the phone. However, his reflexes were slow because he was drunk, and I succeeded in snatching the phone away from his hands. As soon as I glanced at the screen, though, I immediately regretted this action. The first thing I saw on the screen was the lifeless body of Andy's aunt
