MasukTessa
After dropping Lucas off at his school, I went to buy some ingredients that I would be needing to prepare Lucas’ favourite Italian dish fritto misto. He ate it during a business party at one of Logan’s clients’ party and he often demanded me to make it for him.
I wanted to make these remaining days about Lucas because he was the one I’d be missing terribly. Well, I’d miss his father also.
I was looking for the best ingredients in the shelves when I bumped into someone.
“I am sorr-” I paused when I looked at the person.
My heart stung because it was my own husband who wasn’t alone. Raelynn was clinging by his side. He looked embarrassed whereas my cousin smirked seeing my pale face.
“Tessa, what a coincidence. I didn’t expect you to shop in a store which is actually far from your house.” Raelynn spoke.
“I’ll take care of the bills. Please, pick whatever you need.” Logan said, it was clear he was trying to save us from awkwardness.
I shook my head.
“There’s no need. I am almost done and it’s not much. I do have money to pay for my own expenses.” I refused flatly.
If he thought I always used him as my financial crutch. The true was, I never took a penny from him for my personal use but paid with the money I saved when I used to work before marriage.
“Tessa, I can see these items are used to make food. Let me pay.” He insisted eyeing the items in my cart but I already walked past him.
“I think your girlfriend is more in need. After all, she has lacked so many things in last three years.” I didn’t forget to rub it on their faces.
I wanted to laugh when I heard complaining him how I was ridiculing her ‘hardest phase’ just because I was an insecure, jealous wife.
I was anything but insecure because I had nothing to lose.
The whispers of the salespersons couldn’t be ignored because it wasn’t everyday when they had one of the richest men in the city accompanying their lady love, looking all domestic. Whereas, I was the poor wife who had to be there.
“Thank you.” I forced a polite smile at the collection counter as the cashier handed me the bill.
Glancing at them for one last time, I exited the store.
Logan was helping her to pick daily essentials as well and it made me think. Was she planning to live separately from her parents. I bet she barely knew the things we use in our daily life.
Once I was inside my car, I exhaled deeply. I wish I could forget everything like a bad dream because it was more excruciating and sufferable for me.
“I can do it. Logan and Raelynn can’t break me.” I chanted this to myself.
I didn’t drive back to home but decided to have lunch at my favourite restaurant to divert my mind from the unpleasant encounter with Logan and Raelynn. I ordered a simple meal consisting a bowl of rice, some fried shrimps and a plate of salad.
Solitude felt better than being with people who didn’t care about you.
“Should I call it another coincidence?”
Adrian’s smooth, playful voice snapped me out of my reverie and I looked up only to find my friend standing in front of me. Dressed in a casual shirt and a pair od denim jeans, he looked younger.
“Well, I can call you a stalker, Mr. Mcnight.” A smile spread on my lips.
“I was visiting a friend nearby and stopped here to grab something to eat and found you eating here alone. You can treat me for saving your son if you want.” He grinned sheepishly.
It made me laugh.
“Alright, please, join me. It’s boring to eat alone.” I said.
“How’s Lucas?” He asked once his food arrived.
“He was quite shaken but he’s my brave boy. I have to pick him from his kindergarten in an hour. So, hurry up.” I replied.
The restaurant wasn’t much crowded. I could be myself without worrying for Logan Wilferd’s image.
“I hope your husband wasn’t mad at you. I should have controlled myself.” He said after a brief moment of silence.
I recalled Logan’s warning about meeting Adrian again.
“No, we’re good.” I partially lied.
“I am glad he didn’t make an issue about our coincidental meeting but would you mind telling me what Raelynn was doing with him? What am I missing here? She’s alive, all in flesh. Care to explain.” He raised his brow.
The mention of my cousin soured my mood.
“She miraculously survived in the accident and lost her memory…” I recited him the same story I had been hearing since the day she came back.
“Sounds like a movie script but we have to believe it.” He munched on his salad.
“I thought the same but it really doesn’t matter what I perceive. For Logan trusts her.” I shook my head.
“Hey, you can’t fall weak. It’s his loss if he can’t see how you dedicated four years of your life filling the void in his life and giving a mother’s love to his son. You did your part and I respect you for your sacrifice.” He tried to cheer me up.
“You haven’t changed a bit, Adrian. You still talk sweetly just to lift my mood.” I smiled.
“That’s called friendship between two people, Tess. Just remember, I am always there for you.” He said and honesty was what I felt in his words.
“Thanks, now finish your meal because it’ll take me a thirty minutes’ drive to reach at Lucas’ kindergarten in this traffic rush hour.” I said to change the subject.
“What have you decided about my offer, Tess? I really want you to accept this job. It suits your criteria and I don’t find a better person than you for this position. Sooner or later, you have to start afresh. This could be your chance.”
I looked up at him. He was serious about the proposal and when I thought deeply, I realized it could really be the only opportunity I had to start my life from scratch.
Once I’d divorce Logan, I’ll have to face the competitive world.
“I accept your offer, Adrian.”
Logan“Where’s my wife?” I asked while running inside the hospital.“She’s under the effects of sedatives and sleeping and it’s good that she isn’t in her senses because she’s out of control.” Her bodyguard told me.I peeked through the glass window and saw her sleeping. My heart clenched. When I heard her screams, my worst fear came into life.Only I knew how I spent four hours while rushing back home. Someone kidnapped my daughter. The only thought was enough to freeze my blood. I couldn’t afford to lose her.But why did Tessa leave the security behind? She knew that our family was targeted before?“I am going to the police station. Please, take care of her. I will find my daughter as soon as possible.” I instructed her and ran out of the hospital. There were countless missed calls from my parents but I didn’t have the time to waste. My daughter’s life was in danger. I had to save her first and punish her kidnappers who tried to harm a small soul.I’d hunt them down even in the hell
Tessa“I might be late today. I am going for the site inspection at our under construction plant. Please, take care of yourself and the kids.” Logan said.I had Lena in my arms as he settled inside his car and caressed his daughter’s head. She was whining to jump on his father’s lap.“Lena, let your Dad go. He has work.” I rocked her but she wasn’t ready to listen to me.“Dad loves you, princess. Be a good baby and don’t trouble your Mommy. Dad will be back soon.” Logan said to his daughter. She was only two months old but she calmed down immediately as if she understood her father’s words.“I’ll see you later.” He said to me and the car drove out of the gates.“Lena, let’s go inside and then we’ll get ready to go to Mommy’s office.” I took Lena inside. I didn’t know but I had an uneasiness stirring inside me.I couldn’t name the feeling but I hoped everything would be fine.Lucas had already gone to his school. I first got dressed for work and then packed Lena’s stuffs. Workload was
Raelynn“Ray, are you sure that you want to go out and meet Logan? Your psycho lover is after you like a phantom. What if he sees you with Logan again. I am worried about your safety, my child.” My mother tried to stop me for the millionth time.I picked my handbag and phone.“No, Mom. I don’t think I can live like this forever. Riccardo had made my life a living hell for three years and only Logan can protect me from a monster like him. I have to win him at any cost, Mom.”My mother found out about Riccardo the night he barged at my apartment and I had to lie to my mother. I portrayed myself a victim to save myself.Knowing my ambitious parents, they’d definitely try to pair me with Riccardo when they got to know that he was also very rich. But I only loved Logan Wilferd, he was my obsession.“Ray, I only want the best for you and whatever you told me about Riccardo and his line of work, I am scared. He could hurt us if you don’t stop chasing Logan.” She followed me out of our house.
Tessa“Are you sure you want to come inside? Tessa, Dad would understand and trust me, he’ll be okay.” Logan asked me for like hundredth time since we left our house to his parents’ house.“I am fine, Logan. I respect your Dad and I know he’ll feel bad if I go to their doorstep and won’t enter in his house. I can put my pride aside for fifteen minutes. Besides, you’ll be there to shield me if things turn ugly.” I replied. The car stopped in front of his parents’ house which never welcomed me joyfully.Yet I was there again.“Alright, if you want to come then I won’t stop you but we won’t stay long if my Mom or Lea behave rudely with you.” He put a condition.“Let’s decide it when we go inside.” I laughed and Logan picked Lena while I held Lucas’ hand.Together we walked towards the entrance of the house. We were greeted by the house staff. As I predicted earlier, I spotted his parents in the living room. The eagerness on their faces was visible.“Grandpa!” Lucas ran towards his grandf
Tessa “Tessa.”“Hmm..”Logan whispered my name slowly. We were sitting by the fireplace in the cottage house that he gifted to me. It was just two of us and the silence conveying our feelings through silence.“Do you want to go home yet?” He asked.I was in his arms, resting my weight on my chest. He had his arms wrapped around me. The sparkles of the fire illuminated the room.“What time is it?” I asked. I was too lazy to check it myself.“It’s almost ten.” He told me.Although, I wanted to stay a little longer, I knew the kids were alone and they needed us.“Okay, let’s go back then.” I reluctantly pulled myself out of his embrace and put on my heels but he knelt down and helped me to put them on.“Logan, I can do it myself.” I laughed.“I know you can do it by yourself but I want to do it for my wife.” He smiled and I allowed him to pamper me.I glanced around the room. The house was filled with warmth. I knew we were going to make many memories in here.“What are you thinking?” H
LoganI was left stunned after knowing that all these years I wasn’t aware that the woman who made me fall for her by her kindness, it wasn’t Raelynn but Tessa.Tessa was the one helping the poor that day but the girl I met in the same clothes was Raelynn. It turned out that I was never in love but impressed by a woman for her generosity because I was mostly surrounded by materialistic women. They only cared for their appearance and their bank balance.“Logan, back to earth.” Tessa snapped her hands in front of my face and giggled.“So, it was you but why I saw Raelynn who claimed that she loves doing charity for the poor and underprivileged?” I asked. She shook her head. “I don’t know what she did to impress the richest bachelor in the city. All I remember that she requested me to lend my coat to her because she was feeling cold in a dress which wasn’t for winters.”Her answer clarified a lot that had fogged my ability to judge and I realized that I made the worst calculations of my
Tessa“Where was your mind when you drove like a senseless drunkard?” I raised my brow at the man who laid on the hospital bed, his right arm wrapped in a splint but the cocky look didn’t falter.“I wasn’t driving recklessly, it happened in a split of second and yes, I was kind of lost.” He said.“
Tessa“Why aren’t you going inside? Don’t tell me that my brother forbade you to see him.” Lea taunted me with a wicked smile but I chose not to react and patiently waited outside Logan’s room for Lucas to come out.I took Lucas to see his father in the morning before school. I decided not to go in
Tessa“Are you done for today?”Adrian’s voice forced me to look up from the final prints of the dresses that we were about to add in our first collection.“I think it’ll take me another couple of hours to complete the review so we can finally work on the dresses.” I responded.“Don’t overexert you
Tessa “Mommy, can you drop me at school today?” Lucas, who was ready to go to school, asked me.Usually, his driver or Logan used to drop him at his school and my routine was to pick him after school but his strange behaviour since the morning worried me. He was clingier, always sticking by my sid
