PART- 006

Tessa

“Get inside the car. We’re going home.”

Logan’s commanding words were directed at me and then I realized that my husband was standing on a foot’s distance, his facial expressions were icy cold. His eyes dancing between me and Adrian.

“Tessa, what are you doing here at this hour and with Lucas? He shouldn’t be out at this late. How can you be so reckless with a child?" Raelynn frowned at me, her tone was accusing.

“I’ll see you around, Tess. Good night. Please, drive safe. It's indeed a lovely surprise to see you after a very long time. Please, don't forget your promise.” Adrian broke the thick silence and waved at me before proceeding to take his exit.

Logan's expressions were terrifying. I never saw this side of him before.

“I don’t want to see you around my wife again, Mr. Mcnight. Consider it my warning.” Logan’s voice was threatening but Adrian was unbothered.

“You should be grateful to me, Mr. Wilferd. If you were actually a family man, you should have known what’s going on in your family and how your wife has to deal with everything alone, but I guess you’re having a beautiful company.” Adrian didn’t flinch to mock him.

Which infuriated Logan, I could see his eyes getting darker but before he could launch towards Adrian, I butted in to prevent any scandalous scene at a public place.

“I am going home with Lucas. You should escort Ms. Cowper to her place. She’s alone. I can manage.” I said quietly and to avoid further clash.

“The driver can drop her. I am coming with you.” Logan said.

Raelynn’s eyes widened. She didn’t sign up for this. Logan Wilferd was ready to leave her for a wife he didn’t love.

“Logan, I don’t feel comfortable around new people. Your driver is trustworthy but I am still not over with the trauma. Please, can you give me a company back to my house?” She linked her arm around his and pleaded him in a shaky tone.

“You should go with her. After spending the day together, I don’t think it’s appropriate to leave her alone. She looks quite overwhelmed. I always drive myself.” I said in a flat tone and without sparing them another glance, I exited the park with a yawning Lucas in my arms.

I was relieved that Lucas didn’t understand the equation between his father and the other woman but I didn’t know how long I had to make excuses to him. I felt hollow from inside.

The drive was filled with silence, rage and the same ache. He was too busy with his lover that he didn’t even realize that his son could be in danger.

But again, it wasn’t my place to preach him on parenting. I had known him as a dotting father who always looked after Lucas.

When I reached home, I tucked Lucas in his bed and dragged my tired body to the new room. It was cold and empty. It stung me how he asked me to move out of his room and I occupied this room temporarily, it was the smallest of the bedrooms but near to Lucas’ room.

Taking a long shower, I did my night routine and poured myself a drink.

I recieved a message from an unkmwon id on my social media and when I opened it, I found it was from Adrian. He asked me whether I reached home safely and his genuine care brought a smile on my face.

I texted him back with my phone number attached and in the next moment, my phone rang showing a private number. I didn't have to guess. It must be Adrian but before I could respond, Logan's voice startled me.

“What the hell were you doing with that man?”

Logan’s deep voice startled me. I turned around and a shiver waved down my body when I saw those stormy eyes darted at me, his face hard and lips pressed into a thin line.

“I don’t understand why are you getting upset if I met someone?” I raised a brow and in the next moment, he marched towards me with predatory steps.

“Tessa, don’t forget that you’re still my wife and your actions are directly linked to my image. He is a jerk who is competing with me for the Lee Wang’s deal. If you have ever taken interest in learning our business, you would have known.”

His words only triggered my frustration that had bottled up ever since his parents’ visit.

“Lucas ran away from home because he learnt that his father is bringing home someone he doesn’t like. If it wasn’t Adrian, God knows what might have happened to our son but how could you know. You were too busy in pleasing your dear Raelynn.”

I didn’t regret my first ever outburst on Logan. His pupils dilated and he parted his lips to say something but I wasn’t done yet.

“I called you many times but you switched off your phone because Raelynn Cowper is more important than anything and anyone for you, even than your kid who took a big step. Think about it, Logan. I won’t be here after a few days. You and Raelynn must learn to take care of him.”

“My phone’s battery died and I didn’t get time to charge it. I am sorry.” He spoke in a lower tone.

“Never mind. Be careful from next time. Lucas needs to be handled with care.. I won't be around him soon.” I said diverting my gaze from him.

The silence was too heavy to bear so I prepared to return to my room. But my feet halted in the track when I heard his next words.

“I don’t want you to see Adrian Mcnight again, Tessa.”
