Chapter 3

Due to this episode, Juan's attention was solely on Debra. Shelia's performance was completely ignored.

When the auction ended, Debra was about to leave when she bumped into Juan and Shelia.

"Debra, if you don't understand real estate, don't mess around," Juan said bluntly.

Shelia chimed in, "Yeah, Debra. Your actions have cost Mr. Nichols ten billion dollars."

Debra chuckled, "Miss Miles, you misunderstand. This piece of land is mine to buy. What does it have to do with Juan?"

Shelia blurted out, "But that's ten billion dollars."

"It's just pocket change for me, not to mention for her."

From not far away, Randy's voice came. "Isn't that right, Ms. Frazier?"

Debra caught sight of Marion and said, "It's just a plaything for purchase."

Shelia blushed with embarrassment.

Ten billion dollars meant nothing to Juan and Debra.

In front of these people, Shelia felt inferior.

"Heard Mr. Nichols got married. Is the lady beside him Mrs. Nichols?" Marion chimed in.

Shelia blushed, stammering, "N-no."

"This is my wife, Debra," Juan said, pulling Debra close.

Debra tried to shake off Juan's hand, but he held on tight.

Since earlier, he had felt Marion's gaze on Debra.

Men understood men best. He could see through Marion's thoughts.

"So, Ms. Frazier is Mrs. Nichols. It's my bad. I saw Mr. Nichols chatting with this lady in the venue earlier, thinking she was Mrs. Nichols." Randy slapped his head. "Then this lady must be Mr. Nichols's secretary. No wonder she was holding up signs for Mr. Nichols earlier."

Debra almost burst out laughing.

Though she didn't care about Shelia and Juan anymore, hearing Randy's words still made her pleased.

Shelia was totally embarrassed.

"Joe, take Shelia home," Juan ordered.

"Yes, sir," Joe agreed.

Randy grinned, "We'll get out of your hair. Bye!"

After Randy and Marion left, Debra shook off Juan's hand. "Had enough?"

Juan didn't expect Debra to pull away.

Before, Debra couldn't wait to touch him.

She seemed different tonight.

"If you're trying to get my attention, you don't need to do this," Juan said.

Debra was speechless.

She wanted to argue, but she couldn't find the right words.

Considering how much she cared about Juan in the past, she might have done so.

But she wasn't that person anymore.

"Whatever!" Debra shrugged.

"Wait." Juan stopped her.

"What now?"

"What's your relationship with Marion?"

"I don't even know him."

Juan spoke coldly. "No matter what your relationship is with him, you are Mrs. Nichols in public. You better watch your identity and keep your distance from other men."

Debra scoffed, "Before you demand anything from others, how about demanding it from yourself? Did you consider your status and my reputation when you brought Shelia here today?"

"I had Joe inform you today."

"Oh? Is it to tell me not to come?"

Juan remained silent.

He knew he was in the wrong.

"Even Marion, an outsider, mistook Shelia for Mrs. Nichols. If you like her, let's get a divorce," Debra said.

"Did you get up on the wrong side of the bed?" Juan frowned.

Although he didn't love Debra, it didn't mean he wanted a divorce.

Their marriage was based on interests. It was not something one person could dissolve.

From Juan's serious expression, Debra could tell that he wasn't thinking of divorce now, but it was only because of her family.

In a few years, when she became worthless, he would discard her like trash.

Thinking of the miserable end of her last life, she'd rather end it now than wait for that moment.

"I said, let's divorce."

The next day, news of Debra's extravagant purchase of wasteland swept through major platforms.

Debra was the sole heiress to the Frazier family, and ten billion dollars was just a figure for her.

However, with her family's businesses operating, she had limited liquid assets.

It was not easy for her to raise the money.

Debra lay on the bed, rubbing her brows.

'Should I find Juan? No.'

He left without a word yesterday when she proposed a divorce.

She couldn't understand. She was even willing to relinquish the Frazier family's wealth to him, yet he still didn't want a divorce.

But besides Juan, who else could she turn to?

Suddenly, Debra sat up.

She had an idea.

"Marion!"

People in high society were in one circle. Debra managed to contact Marion through her connections.

Debra remembered that Marion's influence was overseas, but in recent years, he had stationed himself in Seamar City. Others might not know why, but she did. In the coming years, Marion would rapidly take over local enterprises, competing head-to-head with Juan.

In the conference room, Marion played with his lighter.

Debra got straight to the point. "I want to borrow eight billion dollars from you."

Randy spat out his tea.

He'd seen straightforward, but never this blunt.

"Ms. Frazier, that's a large amount of money."

Debra blinked. "Last time you said ten billion dollars was nothing."

"I just rolled the logs for you, and you're giving me a hard time." Randy shook his head.

Beautiful women were always a bit sick in their heads.

Marion flicked his lighter. "Why should I lend you any money?"

"I could've secured Crescent Manor with two billion dollars, but because of your meddling, I have to pay an extra."

"Not a convincing reason."

Debra fell silent for a moment before saying, "Your industries are all overseas, but for the past two years, you've been frequenting Seamar City. I guess you want to launder your overseas money here. Am I right?"

Randy paused his tea-drinking motion, subconsciously glancing at Marion.

He didn't expect Debra to understand these things.

The secretary smiled without explaining.Orders were orders. No questions asked.Stuck in the lounge, Debra pulled out homework she hadn't touched in three days. Staring at the pile, she felt her head spin.Getting nagged by teachers at school was bad enough, and now Juan was bossing her around. It made her fume.An hour later, she finished one test paper, but Juan was still in his meeting. She checked the time. It was already 8 p.m. and pitch dark outside."When's your boss gonna wrap up? I need to get home," she said."Mr. Nichols got you some food. Eat if you're hungry," the secretary replied, placing a takeout bag in front of her.She opened it and saw all her favorites. She blinked. "Your boss picked this?""Yes, Miss Frazier," the secretary confirmed."How did he know what I liked?" Debra asked, suspicious. "He's been digging into me?"Realizing the truth, she shot up from the couch. The secretary failed to stop her as she stormed into the conference room. The manager

Debra snapped back to reality. "I don't know him.""I'm her fiancé," he said blandly. The class teacher blinked. In all her years, she had never had a fiancé show up as a parent. Clearing her throat, she said, "Well, Debra has been smoking at school. It's severe misconduct. As her guardian, I hope you can rein her in."Juan's gaze landed on Debra. "Smoking?""I was just messing around," she muttered, sounding scared but showing no fear.Fiancé or not, he had no right to control her.He turned back to the teacher. "I'm sorry for what happened. I'll give her a good talking-to."He glanced at his secretary and ordered, "Pack her bag and have the driver ready.""Yes, sir." The secretary nodded, heading to grab Debra's things."I've got plans after school to hit the arc..." she grumbled.Juan's sharp glance cut her off. She clammed up and followed behind him.As a bodyguard opened the car door, she asked warily, "Where are you taking me?""Mr. Nichols has an important meeting,

The world was full of mysteries and miracles."Sometimes I wonder if we could really start over," Juan mused. If the world reset, everything could be rewritten. Time could roll back to when Debra was 17."You're a girl. How can you pick up smoking?" the class teacher chided her.Debra wore a modified school uniform, her long hair loosely clipped. At 17, she was already striking."Why can't girls smoke? Tons of guys do." She shrugged."That's not the point. Students shouldn't smoke," the class teacher snapped, tossing a pack of cigarettes on the desk. "Call your parents after school.""I don't have parents," she said without looking up. "They're dead.""Then get your uncle and aunt here.""Fine."She pulled out a phone, and the class teacher gaped. "You're hiding a phone too?""You told me to call them," Debra said, dialing. "Yeah, they need a parent. Come quickly. I'm hitting the arcade tonight."She hung up, and the class teacher was floored by her bluntness."You're hope

Drake laughed at her question.Debra frowned. "What's so funny? I'm being serious.""You actually bought that?""You lied?""Yup.""You're not a good guy.""Never said I was."The beach stretched on, but he wasn't feeling tired at all.Back at campus, Debra hopped off the bike and handed him the helmet."Thanks for today. It was a big deal for me," she said, beaming.Drake leaned on the bike, watching her glow over one day of skipping class."What kind of life do you live? One day out and you're this hyped?""You know, class, food, and sleep. Sometimes I play piano, paint, or lately, I'm into flower arranging."Drake could picture her at a window, playing piano. She had once done it with him in the real world. She was a good girl, but they were from different worlds."Alright, princess, go arrange your flowers. Stop following me," he said, patting her head. "See you, shorty."Debra blinked. "I'm not short. And you're going the wrong way."Drake was already too far to h

The sea breeze at the docks was strong.Debra didn't care. She sat casually on the beach. While grabbing a drink, Drake got her an orange soda. The wind messed up her hair. Her profile was perfect. No wonder Marion Houston fell for her at first sight.Drake chugged his beer. Debra eyed his can, curious and eager."Wanna try?" He held it out, only to yank it back as she reached for it. "Girls shouldn't drink."She pouted. "I've never had alcohol.""Andrew doesn't let you?""Yeah.""Control freak.""Not really. He just cares about my health. My parents and he dote on me, but they treat me like a kid. I'm in college now. I can take care of myself, and I wanna do grown-up stuff.""Grown-up stuff? "You know it's nonsense?" Drake asked back."It's just that no one's listened to me ramble in a while," Debra said. "It feels not bad."Drake's long strides forced her to speed up to keep pace. "Where's the classroom building?""Huh?""Aren't we going to class?""Didn't you go to the classroom building yesterday?""I forgot the way, okay?""Oh."She took the lead to guide him. Drake followed. The campus was huge, and the path seemed to never end.As they neared the classroom building, Debra said shyly, "I don't really like class either, but I've never skipped."Drake stopped. "If you want me to ditch with you, just say it. No need to beat around the bush.""That's not a good idea, right?" she said, sneaking glances at him. "Can we?"Just then, a motorcycle zoomed by. Without looking, Drake grabbed the handlebar."Whoa, you nuts?" the rider yelled."Give me your bike," Drake said. The delivery guy was stunned by the robbery in broad daylight. Be
