LOGIN"Miss Emerson, do you know what you're doing?"
Killian pushed her away, his Adam's apple bobbing unconsciously.
"I'm making you responsible, Mr. Ford! I feel terrible..."
Sheila's eyes were glazed, her face flushed, making it easy to guess what had happened.
Besides, Killian knew those dirty tricks of the social scene all too well.
He rebuked coldly, "I'll give you two seconds to get out..."
Sheila's red lips pressed against his Adam's apple.
The fragrant, soft lips, and the even softer touch against his chest.
Killian stared at her, his body stiffening, his mind blank.
He didn't react until her palm slipped under his shirt, when he grabbed it.
"Do you know who I am?"
"Lu... Ruthless."
"..."
The next second, Sheila broke free from his restraint and continued, recklessly tearing at his shirt, breathing rapidly and hotly as she set fires all over his body.
The car was filled with a mixture of intimacy and danger.
Killian stared intently for three seconds before taking the lead and kissing her deeply.
The partition slowly rose, and the car drove to a deserted stretch of road and stopped. Jerry got out in a hurry.
Having been Killian's driver and bodyguard for six years, this was the first time he had encountered such a situation.
He vaguely remembered the last beautiful woman who had offered herself in the boss's car – he had simply thrown her out.
He used to wonder if there was something wrong with the boss, a man so wealthy and handsome, yet with no women around him.
Turns out he liked Miss Emerson's type. Why hadn't he noticed before?
Sheila woke up the next day in Killian's villa.
She opened her eyes, her body aching all over. The wild memories of the previous night flooded back like a tide.
She... Sheila had broken up with her boyfriend of six years and then slept with her boss, Killian.
It must be a dream.
But the marks on her body, and the unfamiliar surroundings, all proved that the memories in her mind were not a dream.
For a moment, Sheila was filled with panic.
They were all adults. If she had slept with someone else in that situation last night, she could have treated it like a drunken hookup after a breakup.
But the person she slept with was the president of the Ford Group the Ford Group, her own direct boss, Killian.
Even though Eric had set her up, Killian might suspect her of deliberately trying to sleep her way up.
This job was her last remaining source of security and a way out. Men could come and go, but offending Killian could mean losing her job at best, and being blacklisted in the industry at worst.
Tears welled up in Sheila's eyes.
She really didn't know what to do.
She wrapped the thin blanket around herself and got up to look for clothes, but couldn't find anything.
Just then, the bathroom door suddenly opened, and Killian emerged, impeccably dressed.
He looked as aloof and restrained as he always did at the office, making it impossible to connect him with the man who had been so passionate with her in the car last night.
Sheila awkwardly tightened the blanket, which was threatening to slip. "Lu... Mr. Ford."
Killian glanced at her briefly, expressionless. "Your clothes are being washed by the maid. She'll bring them up to you after they're dried."
"Oh."
Sheila felt incredibly awkward.
Fortunately, Killian didn't say anything else and left the bedroom.
Sheila had never been to Killian's home before. The detached villa in the city revealed the owner's high taste and extravagance in every detail.
After going downstairs, Sheila sat opposite Killian, trying to appear calm, but her heart was filled with anxiety. She didn't know how Killian would deal with her.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Ford. There was something wrong with the wine last night, which is why I acted that way."
"Can we pretend that nothing happened?"
"I really need this job."
Logically, both parties were responsible for what had happened.
But with Killian's top-tier looks and figure, coupled with his billions of dollars, countless wealthy daughters and top actresses would jump at the chance to sleep with him. As his subordinate, she knew this all too well. He would never take advantage of someone.
So, Sheila subconsciously believed that she had defiled him.
As Sheila said all this with trepidation, Killian remained expressionless, simply staring at her.
His deep, unfathomable black eyes were incredibly sharp, as if they could pierce her soul.
The seconds of silence made her palms sweat.
Finally, Killian spoke, ordering, "Break up with Kane and sign the agreement on the table."
Sheila was stunned. He knew her boyfriend was called Kane?
No, ex-boyfriend.
Sheila quickly realized that Kane wasn't poor either. Being a member of the same high society circle, Killian probably knew Kane, and might have even known that she had been played.
Besides, Killian was extremely busy, why would he care about her personal affairs?
Was he worried that Kane would find out about what happened between them and cause trouble?
She asked suspiciously, "Why?"
"I don't have a penchant for being a third party. Marry me through the agreement, for a term of three years."
"Marry?"
Sheila was still caught up in the fear of losing her job when she was suddenly hit with a nonsensical sentence. She first suspected that she had misheard, then confirmed that she wasn't hallucinating and tugged at her stiffened mouth in disbelief. "Mr. Ford, are you talking about me?"
Killian: "Is there anyone else here?"
Sheila was dumbfounded. It took her several seconds to recover and start thinking about Killian's intentions.
Was it possible that he had been secretly in love with her all along?
The more Sheila thought about it, the more fantastical it seemed. She immediately dismissed the above guess.
She had been working at the Ford Group for over a year. If he really wanted to sleep with her, would he have waited until now?
After thinking it over, she still felt that Killian probably suspected her of trying to climb the social ladder yesterday and was throwing out bait to test her.
So, she quickly pledged her loyalty: "Mr. Ford, yesterday was just an accident. I will completely forget about it and never tell anyone."
"From now on, I will be a work machine, creating value for you."
Killian stared at her for a moment with an inscrutable expression, before saying in an irresistible tone:
"You don't have a second choice."
Sheila felt his frantic heartbeat, and the warm tears seeping into her hair. But could they still love each other selfishly, as if nothing had ever happened?Killian could bury his conscience and cover everything up, but only because he was the beneficiary. The wounds didn't touch him, so he felt no pain. But she couldn't!Antony was the father who raised her.Even now, he was trapped in a nightmare because of Ivan's appearance. She had to seek justice for all the suffering their family had endured.Sheila wiped away her tears, her voice slowly calming. "Killian, I won't let them get away with this."As she spoke, she forcefully pushed him away.Yet Killian held her even tighter, as if to meld her into his very bones. "As long as you don't leave me, you can do anything.""Let me go.""No.""Are you going to hold me like this forever?" Sheila cried out in agony. "Snap out of it...""Please, don
The Ford family's old mansion was ablaze with light, its courtyard overflowing with joyful chatter and laughter.Under a sprawling vine trellis, Sebastian, Regan, and a few other young people chatted casually, while Nicole bustled, warmly entertaining Alison and her husband, along with the other esteemed guests."It's almost time to eat, isn't it?" Caroline glanced at her watch, a slight frown on her face. "How come Sheila and Brother Killian still aren't back?"No sooner had the words left her lips than Killian arrived, Ben trailing just behind him.A wave of greetings rose as everyone converged. Regan, ever the joker, laughed. "You're just getting home? We were starting to think this whole birthday banquet was just wishful thinking on our part, and you and your wife had secretly eloped for some private time!"Killian offered a faint smile, his gaze, however, involuntarily sweeping deeper into the mansion.Caroline craned her neck, peering
"Kane, are you going to talk about how Killian stole my father's corneas again?" Sheila snapped, her voice laced with fury. "Get lost!!"After hanging up, Kane sent another message. Sheila initially intended to ignore it, but as her car stopped at the next traffic light, she couldn't resist tapping it open.Kane: "Stop running. Don't you really want to know the truth about this?"Below it was the address of a club he'd sent.Half an hour later, Sheila pushed open the private room door. Only Kane was inside.Sheila sat down. He wasted no words, placing several documents one by one in front of her.The first document detailed the entire process of Antony's kidnapping, provided by a man named Otis Fox, who was a key participant in the abduction.Seeing Sheila's apprehension, Kane made a call, and Otis was led in. The man's face was covered in stubble, bruised and swollen, and his body was riddled with injuries, clearly showing signs of c
After the hospital room door gently clicked shut, as Henry tidied the fruit basket, he unexpectedly found that Sheila had placed the check he'd given her yesterday, untouched, beneath the fruit.Marshall noticed the change in his grandson's expression and asked with a smile, "What's wrong?"Henry gave a helpless chuckle, "She returned the check."A flicker of admiration crossed the old man's eyes. "That girl is truly something else." He then shot his grandson a meaningful glance, "I just wonder if she's married."Henry looked embarrassed. "Grandpa, don't play matchmaker.""Heh," Marshall scoffed. "I know what you're thinking when your tail starts wagging. You're not getting any younger, and your sister is already married. Hurry up!""Here, have some sweet soup, Grandpa!" Henry handed him the lotus seed paste, expertly changing the subject. "Oh, by the way, my sister gave birth the night before last. It's a boy.""Gave birth?" Marshall
In the hospital room.Gloria approached the bed from behind, holding the baby. "Jocelyn, look at the baby."Jocelyn looked at the newborn, still a bit wrinkled, her eyes strikingly similar to Kane's.But remembering what had happened before delivery, her heart felt instantly ripped apart. This was the little life she had carried for ten months, a life she had almost sacrificed her own to bring into the world.Yet, it was the child of Kane, that demon.Jocelyn’s fingertips, as they grazed the baby's cheek, trembled involuntarily, and tears streamed down her face.Gloria comforted her, "Oh, why are you crying?"Hogan added, "You shouldn't cry during your confinement month."Both assumed she was crying tears of joy, moved by the sight of her child.Only Kane understood the resentment contained within her tears. He immediately stepped forward and clasped her hand. "You've worked hard, wife."A shiver of r
Lying in the operating room, Jocelyn stared at the white light above, feeling hazy. As the clinking of instruments faded, her consciousness began to drift. The metallic clatter transformed into the clang of shackles, the sterile white operating table morphing into a mold-ridden mattress in a dark cabin. Eighteen-year-old her was curled up in the bottom hold of a freighter.Suddenly, grotesque, unfamiliar faces appeared before her eyes. Instinctive fear seized her, and she screamed unconsciously, "Let me go... Let me go... I want to go home!""Dad, Mom, help me..."But those people clung to her like devils, giving her no chance to survive. The surging sea rushed in, engulfing her in waves. The icy water made her whole body tremble. She looked up, but it was pitch black, not a glimmer of hope visible.Suddenly, the seawater receded. A pair of warm hands dragged her ashore. Those hands then offered a steaming bowl of seafood porridge, sp
As soon as Lauren got out of the car, her red skirt swayed slightly as she wrapped her arms around Kane's neck and, standing on tiptoe, she kissed him deeply, oblivious to anyone around them. And Kane, while not reciprocating, didn't reject her either. After a few seconds of embrace and kiss, Kane
Kane, as Rory Maxwell's only son, was his most prized possession and would be the sole heir to the Maxwell Group. Therefore, Rory was extremely strict with Kane from a young age, but the stricter he was, the more rebellious Kane became. It wasn't until three years ago, when his mother passed away a
The sky had gone dark. Ben and Sheila, along with a few others, had scoured the entire venue and all the surrounding surveillance footage, but they still hadn’t found a trace of the keycard.According to the surveillance footage, Sheila handed the keycard to Justin and then never left his side.He
Kelsey and Peter simultaneously looked at Kane, whose face was darker than dark, trying their best not to laugh.Peter teased, "Told you not to pretend to be poor when you're not. If you'd just taken a fancy to Sheila, you could've just kept her."Kane glared at him. "What do you know? If I'd told
