Chapter 161

Author: Edelweiss W.S.
I sneered. Evanna knew better than to continue the conversation and ordered the driver to start driving.

It was around the time most people were getting off work. Traffic congestion turned a 20-minute journey into nearly an hour. By the time we arrived, it was already late.

Evanna had not gotten out of her car. Instead, she sighed from her seat. "It's too late, isn't it? The clinic's closed for the day. Dr. Fey isn't going to treat anyone after hours. Maybe we should come back tomorrow…"

I remembered what Metis had told me—she would always have time for my visit.

Still, should I put that to the test? She should be resting by now.

"Let me call her and see, Evanna," I suggested.

I got out of the car and tapped her number into the pad. I studied her clinic while waiting for her to pick up.

It was the exact spot where the fire had broken out five years ago. I could still make out the burnt marks and scorched parts of the building.

Another thing struck me: how ordinary her clinic lo

Well, what else could Bull do? His boss was already here.Bull sighed. "Okay, fine. Next time, don't throw punches at us, got it? Just give us a heads-up, and we'll let you take what we got."He shot a lingering look at Hera. "She's all yours. Come on, boys."Bull and his lackeys left. The room was a wreck. Izzy glanced at Edmund lying on the floor, then turned to Hera.Mila tugged at the corner of Hera's sleeve. "Are we screwed for good, Hera? This guy seems even more powerful than those three. How are we gonna save ourselves?!"Mila's whining grated on Hera. She met Izzy's eyes and spoke loudly, "So… Izzy, right? You don't seem as uncivilized as those three from before. Maybe you'll listen to reason?"I'm the CEO of Edge Inc. I'm willing to pay you to let us go. I would even consider us friends. If you need a business partner, Edge Inc. would gladly fill that role."Izzy sneered, "Don't call me that. The nickname those hoodlums used on me. You're Hera Bishop, right?"Serious

Hera was running out of options. As Bull closed in, she backed away with her terrified best friend until they were trapped in the corner of the room."Edmund! Holy shit, are you even a man?!" Mila shrieked. "I thought you were in love with Hera! The woman you supposedly care about is being harassed right in front of you, and you're doing nothing?!"Edmund trembled at the sound of his name. That was all.By now, even Mila had given up on him completely. Who knew a man could be this much of a coward? There was only Bull in the room! He could have fought back!"You really should give up on that pansy, sugar. Rather than wasting energy begging him to rescue you, you should be begging me to be gentler!" Bull cackled. He could no longer contain himself. He advanced."Don't come any closer!" Hera screamed.Tears streamed down her cheeks. "My husband just left! If he finds out what you're doing… h-he'll mess you up!"She had instinctively. or perhaps accidentally, used Sebastian as her

If Sebastian were here, Hera was sure he would never rely on her identity to scare these thugs away. He would use his own wits and strength to get them out.Sebastian was that kind of man. He was someone she could depend on. He might have been just a lowly firefighter, but he was as reliable as a tree standing firm in a storm. He gave her a sense of security. How could a man like that become insecure enough to get in bed with a sugar mommy? Was it Hera's fault all along? Had she pushed him into that kind of arrangement by demanding he pay up in exchange for his parents' house?A pang of regret began to creep over her.Suddenly, Bull slapped Edmund so hard he fell back onto the floor. The racket jolted Hera out of her thoughts."'Bodyguards,' my ass! I saw only three of you! You think I'm an idiot? Please!" Bull snarled. "And why are you flaunting your girlfriend's identity as a CEO like you have anything to do with it? Why so smug, huh?""So she's pretty and rich? Oh, can she get

Edmund collapsed to the floor in an instant and groaned as he doubled over, clutching his stomach.Bull and his gang stormed into the room without obstruction, their eyes fixed on Hera."Holy shit! And this guy told us to check the other rooms. As if any of them had a girl like this!""Sugar mama, you look even more gorgeous up close!""Yo, that pansy doesn't deserve this goddess, man. She should be yours, Bull!"Bull's lackeys licked their lips.Bull grinned and pressed his foot onto Edmund's head, "No shit. A wuss like you doesn't deserve a beauty like that!""Who are you people?! This is our room!" Mila shouted in panic. "This is a society governed by law! I'm calling the cops!""Don't worry, sugar. You're pretty cute too.""Wait your turn, okay? Don't worry. We've got enough energy for two women!"Mila's outburst seemed to embolden the thugs. They began to close in, flanking Hera and Mila on both sides.Hera, with far more practical experience, remained calm.Meanwhile,

I did not stop, so Hera gave chase."Did you hear what I said, Sebastian?! You're the one at fault, not me! You have no right to imply I'm undignified! I'm the one who wants the divorce—not you!"Her raw, desperate cries echoed from the entrance. Tears streamed down her cheeks like scars. I finally stopped walking, but I did not turn back."Don't forget to show up tomorrow," I said coldly.Hera felt as if her heart had been torn apart. She ground the words out between her teeth. "I won't forget it! I'm the one divorcing you. I was blind to ever have wanted you!"This was Sebastian at his most despicable, and the memory seared itself into her mind.I did not respond. I only walked away.Hera felt as though she had hurled a punch into the void. Without an explosive reaction from the other side, it landed weightless. Helplessness washed over her.Behind her, Mila shot Edmund a knowing look. They closed in on Hera from both sides."There, there. Don't get worked up over a shitty

Unfortunately, Edmund noticed me. A cryptic expression crossed his face before he quickly stepped in my way."Look who's here! It's been a while, Sebastian," he said with a sniveling half-smile. "I've always meant to apologize for ruining the marriage between you and Hera, but do you really need to stalk us all the way here? It's not what you think, okay? We're just having a reunion between friends."Hera and Mila looked up. The moment they saw me, their expressions darkened.I stopped mid-stride and let out a snicker. Here he was, the bastard himself. Was that pathetic excuse really the best opening statement he had?"Don't even try to be chummy with me. I'm allergic to pieces of shit like you," I shot back. "And don't flatter yourselves. She doesn't deserve me stalking her at all."Hera tightened her fists. Edmund leered at me, furious that he had lost the first exchange."Why you!" he snarled.Mila couldn't stand another second. She glared daggers at me. "You made yourself so
