"You drank too much when you were young, didn't you? All the treatment you've received only managed to stop the sickness from getting worse. It never treated the root of it," Metis said. "Your doctors approached your condition the wrong way. That's the reason."

Frank and Walter froze. The man had been under treatment for almost two decades, yet now this young woman claimed the entire approach had been wrong?

"Excuse me, but are you sure?" Walter asked, irritated.

How could she say all that without running tests or using proper equipment? Was she even a licensed doctor or just a very confident snake-oil saleswoman? Did Sebastian hire an actress to trick him into signing a contract with Sleeping Giant?

"Believe me or not, I don't care," Metis said with calm indifference. "But I'll tell you this. Your liver isn't the problem. The medicines are. The only difference between medicine and poison is dosage. If you take your drug cocktail heedlessly, it will only get worse."
