Chapter 25

I don't know how long I knelt in front of Lala's door. But I didn't leave while I cried and pleaded with them. I wouldn't have left if my legs hadn't started shaking, and Bruno forcibly lifted me. He sat me in the waiting area near the nurse station upstairs. But even though I was there, I couldn't stop crying.

It's so painful! I felt even more devastated when I learned from the nurses how severe Lana's condition was. Since she was brought to the hospital, she hasn't spoken a word. She always looks blank and cries. Sometimes she suddenly breaks down and begs not to be approached. There are times when she can't be touched because she goes into a frenzy and trembles in fear. My God! My poor friend is going through so much pain right now. I didn't want this to happen, but Auntie was right. If only I hadn't left back then, this wouldn't have happened to her. I have so much regret now. My God!

"Ma'am, do you have somewhere else to go? We still have time," Bruno said, standing by my side.
