Ch 6: Kamron

The weekend practically flew by, and Sunday came all too soon along with Rina and my parents. Since it was a school night, Mr. and Mrs. Braedon all but shoved us out the door and back home. I guess they were sick of their house swarming with teenagers. Besides, I knew my parents wanted a full update on their youngest pup in person. Mina had called them on Saturday to let them know she had shifted, but nothing beats my mother’s live reactions.

“I can’t believe my baby is a young woman!” my mother exclaimed during Sunday dinner.

“She did really well, for her first shift,” Kimi smiled at Mina.

I smirked at my baby sister. “She only called for you once, Mom.”

“Shut up, Kam,” Mina grumbled into her spaghetti.

Rina, who was sitting next to Mina, ruffled Mina’s hair. “Isn’t it cute how my baby sister is in heat!”

“I AM NOT IN HEAT!” Mina yelled.

“Relax, baby. Of course you’re in heat. We all can smell it. You’re just grumpy you’re not having sex.” Mom said before taking a bite of food.

All four of us grimaced and exclaimed at the same time:

Mina, “Ew!”

Kimi, “Gross.”

Rina and myself, “Mom!”

Mom looked around the table at us. “What? It’s what happens when a bitch is in heat!”

“Why do you think I whisk your mom away a few times a year? I can’t subject you lot to her temper when she doesn’t get laid.” This was my dad’s contribution to the conversation.

“Dad!”

“Ew!”

“Gross.”

“I’m eating!”

“Well,” Mom continued, ignoring the trauma she’s inflicting on her offspring, “I’ll call the Ob/Gyn tomorrow and make an appointment to get you some birth control. It should keep you out of heat until you’re ready to reproduce.”

Kimi chose that moment to nudge me. Before Rina and my parents got home, my sisters decided that I should be the one to tell them Rose found out our family secret. Cowards. I still hadn’t told them, but needed to before Rose told them herself.

“Um, so, to change the topic from nasty parental sex and Mina’s hormones, Kimi, Mina, and I need to make you aware of a change to our circumstances. . . .”

“You did not knock someone up, did you Kamron?” My mom interrupted me.

“What? No!” I exclaimed. I could almost feel the blush rising up my neck.

“Because I told you to always use a condom if you lose control while making out. What’s her name?” Mom continued ignoring my protests.

“Mom! I’m still a virgin!” I swear my mom thinks it’s funny to embarrass her children. “I wanted to tell you that Rose saw Mina shift.” The silence that followed that statement was eerie.

“She what now?” My dad asked.

“She got suspicious when we ‘took Mina on a walk’ so she could shift in our yard, and followed us. She took the news surprisingly well.” I rushed my explanation while doing my best to look innocent.

Mom and Dad shared a startled look with each other. Rina looked terrified, and Kimi and Mina just tried to look invisible.

“I wonder if we can find a good realtor. Maybe we can move close to Gayl University, then we wouldn’t have to pay for housing for Sarina or Rayan.” Mom stated.

Rina perked up looking slightly panicked. “No! You can’t move there! Rayan has had two years on his own there, and I need that independence to see if I can find love and have a true college experience! I can’t have my parents looking over my shoulder and Dad growling at every wolf I date!”

Mina chose that time to chime in, “Rose promised not to tell anyone, and she hasn’t! Mal doesn’t even know! Please don’t make us move!”

“Yeah, Mom, I don’t want to finish high school without my best friend. Besides, who would you leave us with when you’re in heat and horny?” Kimi must have been terrified of moving if she was bring up old people sex.

“Do you have an opinion, Kamron?” my dad asked.

“I don’t want to move. Rose was actually really kind of annoying about it with all her stupid questions. She’s obsessed with werewolf literature, but after clearing up the worst misconceptions, she understood the importance of keeping our secret.”

Dad sighed. “Well, I guess we can stay for a few more years IF Rose can keep her mouth shut.”  My sisters cheered, and my mom smirked at my dad. Ugh. My parents are such trolls. I don’t think Mom was serious about moving.
