Coliseum

We walked closer to the Coliseum, and now I felt nervous. The cheers from a distance had seemed harmless enough, but now the loud din of werewolves made my ears ring. I heard feet pounding on the stone ground and snarls echoing inside the massive stone arena. Werewolves of all shapes and sizes pushed and jostled each other to get inside. It was like the Mating Ball all over again, only multiplied by a thousand.

I smelled blood, and I stared in horror as some small Omega werewolf was being held down and beaten by several larger werewolves. Blood and tears covered his face, and he squealed so loudly that it drew that rough laughter of the werewolves circling him.

“That’s what you get for cutting in line, you little shit!” screeched a werewolf who pummeled him. His eyes were blood red.

“C’mon,” Felix hissed at me. “Don’t look at anyone. It’s an invitation to fight.”

He dragged me further into a dark doorway filled with the sweating mass of bodies, and I heard the pounding of drums
