Chapter 6

“Thank you, Laura.”

“Have a good night, ma’am.” She said as she opened the doors into her suite.

Elayna saw him again then. Her new bodyguard. He was standing looking as if he was ready. He was still rugged and handsome to her. She was surprised by her attraction to him. He was not her usual type.

He acknowledged her presence as soon as she came in the room. Ready to lead her out of her large home. He did just that and within minutes he was assisting her into a limo.

Once Mrs. King was situated and the driver began heading to their destination. Nick thought back to when she had just walked down the stairs and out of her home with confidence, but now her face read something else to him. Was it sadness? He could not say. He didn't dare openly stare at her.

No matter how beautiful she was. Pete had already left and let him know they would be meeting up at the club later. The car stopped and he  got out first, after he made sure it was safe. He opened the door and let her out. She was back to the confident, graceful beauty he had seen before they got in the car.

It was as if she was floating up the stairs. The valets opened the doors to the sprawling country club for her. She smiled and thanked them as she walked past them and down the corridor. The live orchestra’s music could be heard throughout the building.

She quickly remembered to smile and act happy to be his prized possession in front of all of these people who feared, loved and respected him. She had left her jacket in the car and now she felt naked, and cheap. She couldn’t cower. So she walked into the club with her head held high, an air of confidence in her chest, and a sexy sway in her hips. She was his fourth wife. She had to be the sexiest one.

She understood her role perfectly. He made sure of that. She played the part. People waved and smiled at her and she did the same. Making sure to never lose her cool.

She made it to the restaurant part of the club and the host sat her down at their usual table. The best table in the house, which was situated in the center of the large extravagant dining room. She sat there alone with her hands folded neatly in her lap.

Where was he? She wondered.

The waiter came with their best champagne, chilling on ice in a sterling silver bucket beside her. She looked down at her dress briefly and looked back up, quickly scanning the room. She noticed the men's eyes were shifting hungirly back and forth at her face and her partially exposed nipples. The women glanced at her with a certain uncomfortable glance that let her know that her kind of beauty and taste would never be accepted  by them. She was just a bimbo in their eyes.

A redneck, hillbilly, gold-digging slut, who would do anything for money. Of course, she knew that wasn’t true. She spoke three different languages, graduated from University of Arkansas with a bachelors in arts and communications. She had been making it on her own quite nicely before she met her husband. When she did meet him he made her feel like all her worries would go away, and all she had to do was obey him.

It had been easy at first. She loved him and she wanted to make him happy.

Forty-five minutes passed and she felt embarrassed, irritated, and humiliated. She glanced down at her cell phone. He hasn't texted her or called. Was this part of her punishment as well? Dress her up like this and then not show up?  Was he finishing what he had started earlier today? She knew he would think he was justified in this sort of neglectful behavior. She was almost ready to text him and tell him she was leaving when she heard the murmur come over the patrons in the dining room.

They all stopped dining and seemed awe struck by her husband and his aura of power. He could do no wrong in their eyes...
