Chapter 3439 Where’s the Branch Leader?

Author: Five Generals
Cyan was excited.

She jolted to her feet and looked around. She shouted with a smile. “Mr. Branch Leader, I’m Cyan. Where are you?

“If you’re here, please come forward.

“I’ve been wanting to meet you.”

The crowd gave Cyan strange looks. Everybody there wanted to meet the branch leader in person, too.

Cyan was not the only one.

However, no one demonstrated eagerness as Cyan did.

The crowd made funny looks when they saw Cyan’s swollen cheek.

It did not seem appropriate for Cyan to meet the branch leader with a bruised face.

They had to admit, though. Cyan was pretty.

There were a lot of gorgeous women in the upper crust, especially since good genes ran in the family.

Cyan was no competition to these pretty women, or even Snow, Buffy, and Darcy.

“What makes you think that you can demand the branch leader to see you?”

“Who do you think you are? You’re not the only one looking forward to meeting with him.”

“The branch leader is the man of my dreams, but did you s

All gazes gradually fell on Cyan, Draig, Hunter, and Darcy. Draig and Cyan grimaced. By the sound of things, their behavior caused the branch leader to leave the scene ahead of the celebration. Cyan, in particular, turned white. Oh, shit. The branch leader must have witnessed her conflict with Kaze. “Kaze is a bastard! He’s the reason why the branch leader took off.” Cyan would not find fault in herself. She was livid. It was such a great opportunity to meet with the branch leader. Kaze ruined it all. Oh, Kaze would be the death of her and her family. Gritting her teeth, Cyan came down hard on Kaze in her mind. Hunter and Darcy scowled. Darcy simply attended Hannah’s celebration as a courtesy. The branch chief of the Viper’s Den deserved the respect. Though Darcy was curious about the branch leader, she did not think it was a big deal that he left. It was not like she had anything to ask of him. Now that she thought about it, no one else but Kaze and hi

The wisest choice was to take a step back. The very public love declaration at Bronze Sparrow was just to make Kaze look good. Without the opportunity, Snow would never admit to her feelings so openly. However, Buffy was ahead of Snow in making the romantic gesture. Sure enough, Buffy was more aggressive in showing love. Snow was on high alert. Relieved, Kaze chuckled dryly and said, “Alright. Don’t let me keep you, but no work is more important than having your dinner. I’ll talk to you soon.” “Alright. Got it. You act like my mother.“Bye.” Buffy waved at Kaze and Snow goodbye before heading to the car that pulled up. She entered the car and took off. “Where are we heading, Mr. Lee?” Snow looked at Kaze and murmured. Kaze shied away from her gaze uneasily. He was planning to take Snow to Bourbon when a call came in. He pulled out his phone and realized Alfonso, the former branch chief of Butterworth and Buffy’s family friend, was calling. To make up for his mi

The other underworld kingpin in Riverbank was Miru, Darcy’s best friend, who owned Bronze Sparrow. Thanks to Kaze’s support, Miru was killing it in the world, pushing the former criminal boss out and taking his place. Everett and Kaze used to have beef, and they had called a truce for now. They were keeping their distance at the moment. Kaze annihilated Boris and his family. Nile, the owner of Serenity 37, was the only one left who had not met Kaze. “That’s right. It’s Nile.” Alfonso said, “Jet is one of the Riverbank Seven. Before he went back to Butterworth to fight over the family’s authority, he was pretty close with Nile during his stay in Riverbank. “They are allies, but Jet is the leader between the two.” Nile, one of the four underworld kingpins, was old enough to be Jet’s father. Yet, he partnered up with Jet, serving under him. There were reasons why Jet was named one of the Riverbank Seven. Otherwise, Nile, who held influence in the underworld, would not

When Alfonso reported the poisoning incident, Kaze figured the Frosts must have framed Venom. On second thought, Kaze believed Venom could poison May enough that the Frosts had no choice but to send her to Riverbank. No one knew poison like Venom in Arcadia. “You must know the situation with the Frosts.” Venom replied, “That’s right. I poisoned May, but I did it to separate her from the Frosts. At least she has left Butterworth for Riverbank.” “Why did you separate her from the Frosts?” Kaze asked. Venom responded, “My whereabouts have been compromised. Hades’ Hand dispatched killers after me.“The assassins are on my tail as we speak. “I needed to flee, so I couldn’t protect May as you instructed. That was why I poisoned her, which, in turn, pushed Jet into transferring her to Riverbank. “That way, you can save her.” Venom explained why she did what she did. Even Kaze was pretty impressed by Venom’s wit. He asked, “I can bring May to safety, but I can’t neutralize

“You might want to figure out what’s going on with your family for Jet to make such a drastic move. He must have learned something.” By the absent-minded look on Snow’s face, Kaze knew that she was not in the mood to eat. He was better off leaving her with some questions to think about. It was only the start of something big. “I’ll get right on it.” Despite sticking close to Kaze, Snow got her ear to the ground with the Frosts. She had eyes and ears on the family. She would not put up with anyone hurting her mother. After wolfing down his food and downing the drink, Kaze felt better. He had to leave the celebration before he could enjoy a sip of water. It was sad that Kaze needed to sort out some problems now. With Snow falling into contemplation, Kaze knew that she had a finding. “Why would Hades' Hand know Jet? There must be something that connects them.” Snow came across a key piece of information. They might have overlooked this clue if it were not for Venom.

Serenity 37 targeted rich clientele. Even though it cost a fortune to get treatment at the place, the patients received the best care while enjoying VIP service. Aircraft shuttled patients from other regions to the institution daily. A silver sedan raced toward Serenity 37. The driver seemed to be in a hurry, putting the pedal to the metal. However, the car was stopped at the gate. A security officer in a black uniform stepped forward. “What’s the meaning of this? This is reckless behavior,” the security officer grilled unfriendlily. “My child is badly hurt. This is an emergency. My child needs urgent medical attention.” The mother in the car shouted, hoping the guards would open the gate for them.“Don’t you know the rules of Serenity 37?” the security officer asked callously. “We’ve called in advance, but there’s no time.” “So long as you know the rules.” The security officer hit the button with his electronic key to open the gate. The car drove in. The

“It takes guts for these underworld kingpins to build their own empire in the criminal world.” Kaze doubted that these individuals were able to get to where they were today solely through their ruthless ways. Nile had a knack for doing business, but people like him were vile. “But will they leave my mother alone?” This was Snow’s primary concern. “I’ll make sure they will,” Kaze said confidently while cocking his head back to give Snow a look of reassurance. There was no need for Snow to get in over her head. “Afontre is up ahead. That’s Nile’s territory. “Nile must be notified of our presence by now.” Snow felt uneasy. “The issue is if he doesn’t know that we’re here. It’s not easy to meet the guy.” Kaze had no fear. The rescue mission was a simple task. He would have given it more time if Snow had not urged him so insistently. Venom knew what she was doing after all. Though May was in critical condition, she could still hang on, and her organs were unharme

“You wish to see Mr. Clayton?” Esme found the request strange as most people were there to seek medical treatment. Kaze and Snow looked wealthy enough to afford the medical care. Even if they were not sick, they could opt for medical examinations. It was weird that they would ask for Nile. “Where is he?” “Can I have your names? Do you have an appointment?” Esme, the nurse, took out her tablet to seek her superior’s advice. “We don’t have an appointment. We are with the Frosts.” Kaze used Snow’s name. “I’ll need to see if Mr. Clayton is available.” Esme was hesitant to give a straight answer. Kaze and Snow would have to wait. Bored, Kaze looked around and saw a man with his hands over his head in a corner. The man looked defeated. “What’s wrong with the guy?” With nothing better to do, Kaze asked. Esme glanced at the man and expressed her disdain. “His child is ill and was brought here for treatment. The man can’t afford the medical bill, so someone in

“Kaze can pull the punches for sure. I mean, he has the Butterworth branch chief’s trust for a reason. “There has to be something for him to win the branch chief’s approval.” Edmund doubted there was depth to Kaze. After all, Edmund decided whether to take on a person based on their abilities. It made no sense to pay attention to losers, as he would hold them in contempt. Edmund had been impressed with Herman, who excelled in strategies and management. That was why Edmund bumped Herman up and made sure he stayed on top. “Got it.” Herman nodded and had one foot out the door. “Don’t be in a hurry to leave. There’s one more thing.” Edmund pointed at the table. Herman approached and stood on bent knees. Pleased with Herman’s submission, Edmund passed him a wine glass. Herman took the drink humbly before looking carefully at Edmund, awaiting his orders. “The wine was just airlifted from abroad. I can vouch for the taste. If you’re looking to sip on the finest, yo

Time went by, and a towering man in a suit showed up outside the door. Picking up on the noise inside the room, he knocked on the door. It was hard to tell whether the person inside could hear the knocking, so the man waited outside. The door was opened, and a woman, her face flawless with makeup, popped her head out and saw him. She cocked her head back at Edmund. “You have a guest, Mr. Witterson.” “Let him in,” Edmund instructed. He then leaned in to take the drink from the girl next to him with his mouth. The other girls cheered him on. The group was lost in their fun. The man, who entered the room, stood by the sofa respectfully. He kept his head down, his gaze staying low at the bottles of alcohol spread across the table. It was a bit of a wait before the man approached at Edmund’s order. “Tell me about Dwight.”While listening to the girls’ singing, Edmund turned to Herman. Herman rushed over as soon as Edmund called. He won a lot of money at poker toda

In this particular circumstance, Morris had to play it safe so that things would not get out of hand. The last thing he wanted was to be dragged into the mess. At least, he finally saw the Wittersons’ true colors. Morris’ friendly advice was met with disrespect and insult. However, the Wittersons were a force of nature, and Morris was not about to take them head-on. Despite his frustration, Morris had to walk away. Well, Edmund would soon face his downfall at the height of his power, and Morris would be there to enjoy the ride. Still, it did not sit well with Morris to have a young fella walk all over him. It had crossed his mind to keep the Wittersons in check, but there was only so much he could do. Morris had to be the one to back away as the Wittersons grew haughty. Morris believed there was more to Kaze’s visit to Westeros. Nothing major happened in Westeros recently. At least, there was nothing worth the other branch’s attention. However, a representative of the

Morris suggested entertaining Kaze well. Things would not be good for the branch if Kaze got dirt on them. That was where Edmund disagreed with Morris. His idea was to send someone to sound Kaze out. Edmund was smug because Morris’ decision was wrong. “You shouldn’t do that. Kaze is here on behalf of the Butterworth branch. You don’t want tension between both branches.” Morris looked at things from a wider perspective. Edmund believed Kaze was just a doormat of little importance. “You just overthink things, and it’s not good for your age. You’re getting senile.” Edmund did not take Morris’ advice seriously. He believed he was right. “You’re not getting it. Kaze is from Butterworth. Even if he doesn’t hold a high position there, we were in the wrong. We did not keep our tracks clean either. “Now that he’s back, I’m worried that he’ll cause us harm.” Morris was only giving a heads-up because the whole branch was at stake. Edmund was young. Due to his lack of judgmen

“We should be generous to our guest from Butterworth. You can arrange as you see fit. Please don’t house him in a messy home. Hire cleaners to tidy up the place. “You can report back to me if you need more money, but it’s not a reason for you to misuse the funds.” Herman wanted to hang up. The money was now in Dwight’s bank account, so he was washing his hands off the matter. The plan was to keep Kaze happy. He was just an insignificant member of the Butterworth branch anyway. The whole thing would blow over soon enough, so long as Kaze kept to himself without taking things too far. Herman would figure out a way to get him out quickly anyway. Maybe Herman and his friends did not have to do anything to get rid of Kaze. “Got it. I’ll be a good host, Herman. I won’t let you down. I’ll keep you in the loop.” Dwight was over the moon to get the notification about the money transfer. “Just play by ear and arrange what you see best.” Herman hung up and continued playing pok

“It’s becoming a hassle now. Are you going to inform the Viper’s Den about the change of accommodation?” After much hesitation, Kaze nodded to take up the offer. Dwight was thrilled. It only hit Dwight that he had to communicate with the Viper’s Den. Kaze was booked for a hotel stay, and Dwight’s job was to take him to the destination. Yet now, Dwight took him to his home. “I’ll tell my superior and see what he has to say.” Dwight was not sure whether the change was appropriate. Nevertheless, he did not want to pass up on a great opportunity. He simply grabbed the bull by the horn. If Kaze stayed at his place, the Viper’s Den members had to respect Kaze’s request even if they had a problem with it. “But when they ask, you can say that you’re getting along well with me. Living together just makes work more convenient.” Feeling unsettled, Dwight tried to get their stories straight with Kaze. Hopefully, the Viper’s Den would not come after them. “Aren’t we friends? Dwight gave some suggestions. “But I’m worried about being a nuisance to your family.” Kaze remained hesitant, torn between decisions. “No, you won’t. I usually live alone. They stay somewhere else. They barely visit. I’ll just let them know not to visit for now,” Dwight replied. Dwight figured out what was in it for him. He could not let Kaze leave. “I don’t want to put your family in an awkward position.”Kaze was still considering the matter. “Relax. They don’t live with me anyway. The room I have for you is tidy. No one has stayed there before.“I’ll hire some help to freshen up the place. I can guarantee you an experience no less than at the hotel.” Dwight spoke with great confidence. “We should finish our food and doggie-bag the rest. I’ll take you to my place.” Dwight was ready to get things going. Kaze took the offer and nodded. “I’ll be in your care then.” Kaze was glad that his plan went through. Dwight had no idea that he got played. Nevertheless,

“I’m new to the place, so I don’t know much. Can you show me around when you’re available?” “No problem, but I usually have some stuff to take care of. I can’t be there 24/7. “Why don’t you propose to the branch that you want me to be your guide and attendant?” Dwight suggested. There was no telling whether Kaze would accept his proposal, but it was an opportunity to prove himself. He was never involved in the core operation. Often enough, he was the branch members’ punching bag. Though Dwight was aware that he was not good enough for the big stuff, he still wanted to succeed. Kaze was the trusted aide of the Butterworth Branch chief. He was in Westeros for a reason. By joining Kaze, Dwight would come across the major players. Kaze saw through Dwight’s plans. “Sure. I’ll do that.” Kaze did not mind the request. “Great. I’ll let them know on your behalf. I’ll be responsible for your needs while in the city.” Dwight was overjoyed at the opportunity. “So you live

“You must be rich. I often see rich people picking tabs for everybody. Talk about extravagance.” The tension in the air was lifted when Kaze offered to pay for everything. “I’m not. Consider it an apology,” Kaze explained, not wanting to cause unnecessary misunderstandings. He did not see the point of continuing the conversation. Dwight’s angry screams came from outside. “What the hell is this? I only ordered a bunch of stuff. Why am I being charged an exorbitant amount?“What do you mean my friend is paying for everybody? That’s throwing money away,” Dwight said while storming his way over. “I know you have money, but you shouldn’t do this, Mr. Lee.” Dwight did not approve of this type of generosity. “You rubbed them the wrong way. It was only right to apologize. Besides, it’s not a lot of money.” Kaze looked at the bill and handed a bank card to Dwight. “It’s my treat.” The consumption was barely a dent in Kaze’s savings. The meal did not cost more than his us
