Chapter 3579 Fake Trust

Author: Five Generals
Kaze continued chewing on his watermelon while listening to Arthur’s update.

“It’s interesting. Jet is like a God here. If he’s interested in any project, he gets involved and makes a fortune out of it.

“Slowly, people gathered around him and started to trust him. This isn’t anything worth noting but he does resort to dirty tricks to snatch projects at times.”

Arthur chuckled as he continued.

The more arrogant Jet had been, the more pathetic he looked now.

“He got what he deserved. I guess he’s simply unlucky.”

Kaze found it amusing. It was also the outcome that he expected.

He had been making moves with a clear objective in mind, not merely out of revenge against Jet.

“He is. The project owners who were forced to sell their work to him at a lower price are now celebrating.”

Arthur had seen a fair share of things recently and he understood why the Frosts became who they were now.

He looked down at them.

For a family to grow, it must take careful steps one by one,

“I can tell he’s running out of patience. His handsome face looked a little tired recently.” Arthur had been carrying out Kaze’s orders and he occasionally met Jet. It was just that Jet never took Arthur seriously. Even if they met face to face, Jet did not have any idea who he was. Kaze chuckled at Arthur’s words. Jet never showed any respect to people below him. Kaze would never let him off easily. He took the documents on the table to have a look and found several interesting projects. Had he not interrupted Jet's businesses, once the projects started, Jet and the Frosts would earn a fortune. “This attraction is quite fun. I played it for a while the other day and it’s quite interesting,” Kaze said. “After the funding for this project got halted, their manager is at a bind. They tried to secure more funding and investment. They know this project is going to make money but time is not on their side, which caused many parties to drop off,” Arthur commented after havi

“I understand.” Arthur took notes of everything Kaze said and started to plan out the arrangements in his mind. He was more than happy to see Jet suffer a great loss. Jet had always been acting like a king in Butterworth. If they could pull him down from the throne, many would be glad to see it happen. A tyrant who sat high on the throne would never care about the peasants; the peasants did not like the tyrant as well. “Don’t rush it. We have a lot of time.” Kaze was in no hurry. He believed they could take more time to prepare. Acquiring the projects from Jet’s hand was considered a step in progress as well. He took a sip of his drink and then looked at Arthur. “You look tired. I bet you haven’t been sleeping lately. Why not go get some rest? Your dark circles are heavy.” Kaze did not want Arthur to neglect his health to help him, so he gave a piece of reminder. “It’s my honor to help you, Mr. Lee. Besides, I am getting a lot for myself lately.” Arthur’s income

Snow felt bad about Kaze going to Butterworth solely to help her, so she could not just stand idly by. She wanted to help when her presence was needed. “That won’t be necessary. There’s nothing you can do here.” Kaze believed things were progressing smoothly so Snow’s presence here was not needed. In fact, if Snow came back to Butterworth, Jet would surely be alarmed, which would lead to the exposure of Kaze’s plans. Snow was slightly disappointed. She really wanted to help Kaze. Kaze headed to Butterworth because of her. She already blamed herself for not being by his side. Now that she was rejected, she felt terrible. “Chairman Lee, if not because of me, you wouldn’t be in this mess,” she said with a hint of regret and sorrow. Snow stood by the window in a brightly lit room, enjoying a moment of peace, while Kaze was running around tirelessly for her and her family. “Your priority now is to take care of your mother. When your mother has fully recovered, you can bring

Every time Snow saw her mother getting better, a surge of happiness and gratitude toward Kaze filled her heart. “I thought you said you were going to help Mr. Lee? Go on, don’t waste any more time!” May was happy to see her daughter. She, too, was grateful for the young man who saved her. “Chairman Lee said I am not needed there, so I am staying here to spend time with you.” Snow did not have the heart to leave her mother. May’s body might be recovering but she still had difficulties walking alone. The poison must have damaged her body terribly. “What? This is our family matter, we can’t always trouble him,” May said, expressing her concerns. “Chairman Lee made it clear. I’ll just listen to what he says. He’s a straightforward person and he won’t keep anything from me.” Snow trusted Kaze unconditionally and was exceptionally grateful for his help. “He’s a good man. You have to repay him next time.” May was not clear about her daughter and Kaze’s relationship, so she

“I have to get going now. If there are any updates, I'll let you know.”Arthur glanced at his watch and realized he had taken a long enough break; he didn’t want to waste any more time. “Be careful.” Kaze always treated his men with kindness. As long as they performed their duties and maintained their roles, he did not care about their private lives. Arthur felt comfortable being around Kaze. He nodded and then left the room. When he stepped outside, he noticed the bar was quite empty, with only a few tables of customers drinking. As Arthur was in a hurry, he quickly strode to the entrance and did not pay any attention to the customers. Had he paid a little more attention, he would have seen Leah in the corner, but it would not matter as well. Leah had a few drinks and started to feel tipsy, a newfound feeling that she enjoyed. As time went by, more and more customers entered the bar. Leah took an entire seat for herself, which started to raise concerns among the c

With the intention of making a friend, Sadeeq went over with a glass of drink. “Hi. You’re alone?” he asked passionately. “Leave me alone,” Leah said with an obvious sense of rejection. “Come on. I just want to make some friends. I’m not from around here. I see you are alone as well, why don’t we have a chat?” Sadeeq was not deterred because of a single rejection. “I am not here to make friends. I just want to be alone.” Leah made it clear that she wanted to be alone. Any other gentleman would know that it was a clear sign for them to step away. Only a few would continue to be persistent. Sadeeq, however, was no gentleman, and he did not care about manners. “Don’t be so cold. You are here because you are alone and seeking a companion, am I right? Look at them, they are all couples; we are both single. Why don’t we have some fun together?” His choice of words revealed that he was not highly educated. Leah frowned and was displeased by his rudeness. “I don’t know wh

“Hey! You are the one embarrassing yourself, and it’s because of your fashion sense! It’s not because of me! And I told you I wanted to be alone and you should be on your way already!” Leah had never encountered such an ungentlemanly person before. She was always surrounded by cultured men, who sometimes needed only a gesture or a mere glance to understand and leave without causing any trouble. Her limited social circle consisted of elites and gentlemen, people with status and reputation, so rarely anyone had ever done something that would tarnish their own image. Sadeeq, however, was a deviant. She had hinted at him so many times and even made it clear, yet he did not get it. “You want to be alone? But other than this place, I can’t find anywhere else to sit. I can sit here and have my drink, can’t I?” He did not care what the girl said. He was accustomed to resolving matters by any means necessary. As long as he ultimately won or made a fortune, people would continue to

“I know what I am doing but buying you a drink is not considered something rash, is it? It’s not even against the law.” “But I don’t want it.” Leah refused to compromise. “Come on. Let’s just talk. I just want to know what your name is,” Sadeeq asked, his tone curious and his gaze perverted. He scrutinized every inch of the woman before his eyes, her alluring features captivated his attention and her scent could shake his soul. He had quite a number of girlfriends in the past and got his fair share with other women as well, but he had never encountered such a pure and innocent girl. Her eyes had an indescribable resistance and stubbornness but her movements were gentle and polite. She was a unique girl who could leave a strong impression on any man. “My name has nothing to do with you. Stop it or I will call for help!” Leah’s panic slowly grew into embarrassment. She had never encountered a situation like this before. The moment she found herself in trouble, a stron

As they arrived, they saw a dozen expensive cars parked outside. The customer base was relatively stable as the establishment was targeted at the upper class. The people lining up at the club were young men and women of ordinary background. All were allowed inside Absolute Zero with an entrance fee. Since this would be a chance for ordinary people to meet and interact with the upper-class elites, they cherished it and tried their best to look good. Even movie producers and scriptwriters came to the club, seeking investments or a role in movie production. It was a shortcut to reach out to the upper crust after all. Yet they were just a bunch of fresh graduates with no resources and connections, so the club was their only chance at achieving something great. Dwight would never understand how rare the opportunity was, as he was narrow-sighted. He had never experienced power and wealth before, so he lacked the understanding of how things worked in society. “I never thought

With that in mind, Dwight checked his outfit. His black leather jacket brought out his height and wild side. He then observed Kaze. The latter was dressed casually. Dwight was worried that they would not be allowed into Absolute Zero because of their attire. Nevertheless, he could not let slip that he had never been to Absolute Zero. Without a word, Dwight led Kaze down the apartment building. Kaze could pick up on Dwight’s nerves. While in the elevator, Dwight could not stop straightening out his clothes. It was clear that he was nervous. Even so, Kaze said nothing and pretended not to notice. They got into the car and drove to an alley. The area was not huge, but there were stands selling street food. “The food is great here. Since it’s early, we can grab a bite.” Dwight was not being tight with money. As their destination was a bar, there was no need to get a proper meal. “I’ll get a skewer then.” Kaze did not have much of an appetite anyway. “Okay. I’ll or

“You’re the guest. I should be hosting you, but I don’t seem to be doing a good job.” Dwight knew he had to do better. “It’s okay. I don’t have much to do. It’s just a delivery anyway.” Kaze bought a lot of stuff online. All they had to do was wait for the delivery. Once the items arrived, they could head out. Dwight talked about taking him to a bar under the Viper’s Den’s umbrella. It was a great opportunity for Kaze to check out the scene. He had heard that the Wittersons were tied to all the Viper’s Den’s business operations.Kaze would not meet Edmund and Morris in person, but he would grasp all information related to them. Then, Kaze would stir things up between them and sit back while reaping the benefits. Kaze had it all planned out. He simply had to take his time in playing the long game. Nevertheless, it was important for him to remain discreet. At the very least, he should not show them what he was made of. It was easy to execute his plan when everybody

Kaze rose to his feet and took something out of his bag. Putting on his jacket, he was on his way out. Dwight was out of his room, too. He left his room for a glass of water and waited for Kaze to get out of the room after his nap. Dwight had a drink in the kitchen. He took an apple and chomped on it. Looking at the fruit on the table, Dwight grabbed a plate to arrange it neatly. He took out his phone to pass the time while waiting for Kaze. Kaze emerged from the room and saw Dwight. “You’re up at last. You’ve slept half the day away. Are you still tired? I can wait if you need to catch some sleep.” Dwight kept Herman’s memo to look after Kaze. “A little. I didn’t get any sleep last night. I was waiting to get on the plane.” Kaze took the red-eye flight yesterday. Dwight allowed time for Kaze to rest, knowing his travel schedule. “I know. Did you manage to get some good sleep? If you haven’t, you can go back to bed. I can grab some food for you.” Dwight’s plan

“Your main responsibility is to entertain Kaze. You will be rewarded for good work,” Herman said. Dwight nodded incessantly. “Thank you for thinking of me, Herman. I won’t forget this.” “I’d be grateful so long as you stay out of trouble. “Just focus on what you should do and take good care of Kaze.” Herman worried that Dwight might get ahead of himself and forget his primary duties. Dwight’s priority was Kaze’s well-being. The whole thing would be over if Dwight kept to himself and served Kaze until he was gone. There would be a problem if something were to happen. Without Edmund’s instructions, Herman would never have assigned a job to Dwight. It could be a good thing, though. At least, a job might keep him on the straight and narrow. “Relax. You can count on me,” Dwight said with glee. That was a nice surprise. Dwight did not see it coming. It was just incredible. Herman still could not shake off his worry. However, he had said his piece. It was pointless t

Herman’s smile vanished. His red, irritated skin was playing up. Due to alcohol in his system, Herman could not see straight. He had to grit his teeth to hold back the urge to retch. Herman was not one to drink. Yet, he would have to go through Edmund’s loyalty test every time, and he was reaching a boiling point. However, he understood that he needed to suck it up to gain Edmund’s trust. “You must be Herman. Mr. Witterson. Should I take the things to your car, or should I deliver them to your home?” asked a uniformed server who approached. “Put them in the car and get me a designated driver,” Herman replied. He headed to the lobby while propping himself against the wall. “Okay. There will be a driver out front, ready for your service.” The server tried to help Herman up, but was declined. Herman saw the cartons of alcohol and cigarettes in the lobby. Edmund had always been generous in giving out stuff like this. “These are from Mr. Witterson. You’re lucky to work for

“Kaze can pull the punches for sure. I mean, he has the Butterworth branch chief’s trust for a reason. “There has to be something for him to win the branch chief’s approval.” Edmund doubted there was depth to Kaze. After all, Edmund decided whether to take on a person based on their abilities. It made no sense to pay attention to losers, as he would hold them in contempt. Edmund had been impressed with Herman, who excelled in strategies and management. That was why Edmund bumped Herman up and made sure he stayed on top. “Got it.” Herman nodded and had one foot out the door. “Don’t be in a hurry to leave. There’s one more thing.” Edmund pointed at the table. Herman approached and stood on bent knees. Pleased with Herman’s submission, Edmund passed him a wine glass. Herman took the drink humbly before looking carefully at Edmund, awaiting his orders. “The wine was just airlifted from abroad. I can vouch for the taste. If you’re looking to sip on the finest, yo

Time went by, and a towering man in a suit showed up outside the door. Picking up on the noise inside the room, he knocked on the door. It was hard to tell whether the person inside could hear the knocking, so the man waited outside. The door was opened, and a woman, her face flawless with makeup, popped her head out and saw him. She cocked her head back at Edmund. “You have a guest, Mr. Witterson.” “Let him in,” Edmund instructed. He then leaned in to take the drink from the girl next to him with his mouth. The other girls cheered him on. The group was lost in their fun. The man, who entered the room, stood by the sofa respectfully. He kept his head down, his gaze staying low at the bottles of alcohol spread across the table. It was a bit of a wait before the man approached at Edmund’s order. “Tell me about Dwight.”While listening to the girls’ singing, Edmund turned to Herman. Herman rushed over as soon as Edmund called. He won a lot of money at poker toda

In this particular circumstance, Morris had to play it safe so that things would not get out of hand. The last thing he wanted was to be dragged into the mess. At least, he finally saw the Wittersons’ true colors. Morris’ friendly advice was met with disrespect and insult. However, the Wittersons were a force of nature, and Morris was not about to take them head-on. Despite his frustration, Morris had to walk away. Well, Edmund would soon face his downfall at the height of his power, and Morris would be there to enjoy the ride. Still, it did not sit well with Morris to have a young fella walk all over him. It had crossed his mind to keep the Wittersons in check, but there was only so much he could do. Morris had to be the one to back away as the Wittersons grew haughty. Morris believed there was more to Kaze’s visit to Westeros. Nothing major happened in Westeros recently. At least, there was nothing worth the other branch’s attention. However, a representative of the
