63. Marks in the Wrong Places

The morning sun slanted through the tall glass windows of Johnson Enterprises, painting the floor in gold and shadows. Ryan strode into the building with his usual composed confidence, his black shirt crisp, his charcoal-grey suit perfectly fitted, and his hair combed back like he had just stepped out of a high-end magazine shoot.

No one could tell from his calm demeanor that he had kept a certain woman awake until the early hours of the morning. No one except perhaps for the faint, very faint, reddish marks trailing just above the line of his collar.

Ryan entered his cabin, already running through the morning’s schedule in his head. A few emails to approve, a conference call at eleven, and he smirked faintly, he would find a way to text Elena before lunch.

He had just settled into his chair when a knock at the door broke his thoughts.

“Come in,” he said.

Jade walked in, a file tucked under his arm and a smirk already playing on his lips.

“Morning, boss," Jade drawled, dropping the f

  • Guilty Pleasure #2   78. Drenched in Dawn's Desire

The sky was still dark, the first hints of dawn stretching out like pale brushstrokes across the horizon, the waves kissed the shoreline gently, their rhythm steady and hypnotic, the world holding its breath before the sun’s arrival. The faint cries of seabirds echoed in the distance, mixing with the salty breeze that played over the sand. Elena stirred first. Her lashes fluttered as her sleepy eyes opened, greeted by the quiet majesty of the sea. For a moment, she forgot where she was, then the weight of the night returned in a slow, warm rush. She shifted, realizing she was completely naked beneath the soft blanket wrapped around them. Her gaze drifted to the man beside her. Ryan lay on his stomach, his bare back rising and falling with each steady breath. The blanket was pooled around his waist, leaving his back bare. His dark hair was a tousled mess, strands falling across his forehead, his jawline sharper than ever against the soft glow of dawn. In the dim, pre-dawn light, she

  • Guilty Pleasure #2   77. Moans Beneath the Moonlight

Ryan stared at Elena’s face who was no less than a Goddess of beauty. Her tender hands danced along his hair. His body pressed firmly against hers, and she responded by encircling her arms around his neck, drawing him into a warm embrace. He could feel her heavy breathing on his lips. Their eyes locked in a silent understanding, the air between them charged with anticipation, until the inevitable moment when their lips met for the nth time that night, and she let out a soft moan into his mouth. He put his hand around her waist and pulled her closer, his eyes locked with hers. Their tongues intertwined as his hands roamed over her back, caressing the softness of her skin."Oh, Ryan!" Elena moaned in his mouth.Ryan pulled down the zip of her dress. Her tight boobs were caged in the bra. He kissed her neck and inhaled her sexy smell. She moaned, pulling him closer. His tongue played on her neck and shoulder, moving towards her cleavage."Oh butterfly! You’re so beautiful!" he murmured

The three words hung in the salt-kissed air. They echoed in the space between the crash of the waves, settling into Elena’s soul with the weight of a destiny fulfilled. For a moment, she thought she had misheard him. She could do nothing but stare at him, her mind struggling to process the seismic shift his declaration had caused in her universe. The waves crashed softly in the background, the candles flickered in the night air, but all she could hear was his voice, still ringing in her ears. Her lips parted, but no words came out. Her chest felt too tight, her thoughts too tangled, her heart too loud.Ryan’s gaze never wavered. He just watched her, waiting, giving her space. Instead of speaking, she did the only thing her body would allow. She surged forward, burying her face in the warm hollow of his neck, wrapping her arms around him. Her body shook, silent sobs breaking free as hot tears spilled onto his shirt.Ryan stilled for half a second before tightening his arms around her,

The ocean’s rhythm seemed to sync with the frantic beating of Elena’s heart. Her chest rose and fell unevenly, Ryan’s words echoing through her like a wildfire she wasn’t ready to let spread. His confession hung in the salt-tinged air, a delicate, precious thing amidst the flickering candlelight. The words “you’re wrapped around every part of me” echoed in the silence. She stood frozen within the circle of his arms, her hands still pressed against his chest, feeling the solid, rapid thud of his heart beneath her palms. It was a stark contrast to the icy composure he’d worn in his office. Her lips parted, her heart betraying her with its rapid beats, but her mind screamed caution. She searched his eyes, those piercing blues that had once felt like home, but now carried the weight of too many broken promises.A bitter, broken laugh escaped her lips. She dropped her forehead against his collarbone, unable to look at him. “You say that now,” she whispered, her voice trembling, “You can’t…

  • Guilty Pleasure #2   74. Pull of What Remains

The world was a prison of darkness and his scent. Sandalwood, cedar, and the faint, clean smell of his skin, it was an aroma that had haunted her dreams and her waking nightmares for a month. It was the scent of her own undoing. Her whole body tensed, heart hammering against her ribs as the rough cloth pressed over her eyes and the palm against her mouth held her silent. The warmth of his chest pressed against her back as he tightened his hold, keeping her still. “Ryan!” she managed to choke out between his fingers. “What the hell are you doing? Let me go!” The words were muffled against the firm, warm palm still pressed over her mouth, coming out as a furious, indistinct grumble. But he said nothing. She kicked backward, heels sinking into the sand, fighting with every ounce of strength she had. “You can’t just… Ryan! drag me off like this! Are you insane? I swear to God if you don’t let me go this seco

  • Guilty Pleasure #2   73. The Unseen Plan

The inside of Elena’s walk-in closet looked like a cyclone had hit a fabric store. She stood in front of her closet like a soldier facing an impossible battle. Dresses, skirts, and tops were strewn over every available surface, a colorful testament to her rising frustration. Dresses of every color and cut hung in a neat row, yet none seemed right for tonight. She stood in the middle of the chaos, holding up a simple black cocktail dress before tossing it onto the growing ‘absolutely not’ pile with a groan. She grabbed a floral midi dress, held it against herself in the mirror, and made a sound of disgust. “Too frumpy.” A silk blouse and tailored trousers. “Too much like a work meeting.” “Useless,” she muttered to the empty room. “Everything is useless.”Nothing in her wardrobe seemed to fit the bizarre description Avonlea had concocted. She wanted something simple and gorgeous but not a screaming look at me. “Why does nothing ever cooperate when I need it to?” she muttered, tugging
