LOGINThalassa's POV
“I told you not to go for the pre-season,” Lucien thundered, his voice rattling off the walls. “You dare defy me your husband and mate now? What the hell has come over you?“
I let out a dry laugh. “You came over me, Lucien. I married you at my peak, Lucien—gave you three years of my life. And you called it stupidity.”
Lucien is speechless for a while but he quickly recovered. “So you're going to rebel against me?“
I grabbed the small suitcase I had packed my essentials. “Yes, my darling husband,” I said coolly. “Since I'm stuck in this sham marriage with you… I'm going to make sure we aren't both at peace. I will do everything I want too.“
My phone beeped, flashing Sierra and that means the bus that would convey us was already waiting outside for me. I started walking out of the room. “Goodbye, my husband.“
“Really Lassa,” he called out behind me. “ I will make sure you regret this….“ His voice faded into the background.
I handed the bag to Amanda. “Let's go.“
Amanda had confessed that she already knew about Lucien and Talia's affair for a while, but she was too sad and afraid I won't believe her to talk to me about it.
Outside, I forced a smile to my team members who were visibly excited to have me join them and climbed into the bus.
Without any word, Sierra pulled me into an embrace like she knew how much I needed it. I leaned into her, fighting back the tears that were about to spill. After we pulled back, I settled at the last sit and the driver pulled away.
I stared at the beautiful passing scenery. I would make the most of this trip and play my sorrows away on the rink.
_____
Hours later, we arrived at the Northern Crescent Pack where the game was scheduled to take place and after we've settled in at the hotel room, I decided to visit a nearby bar at the outskirts of town.
“Your strongest drink, please,” I said, sliding into the booth.
The bartender—a young lady with blonde hair—nodded with a professional smile on her face and turned away. Moments later, she slide a bottle of alcohol and a glass of wine on the table. “Enjoy, ma'am.“
I filled my glass and threw down the liquid—which burn down my throat but not enough to burn out the anger and sadness inside me. Even though I have been trying so hard to contain the pain, It still hurts so much; Lucien's betrayal, Talia's, my parents involvement, Alpha Sebastian's and Luna Selena's words.
I threw down another glass. Another glass. I wanted to waste away but I couldn't get drunk.
“Give me another drink,” I said to the bartender whose gaze have been fixed on me as if she was curious on why I had been drinking alot. “Please make it three times stronger.“
“Don't. Give. Her,” a deep baritone voice came behind me
Then I perceived it. A strong masculine scent hit me first—wild cedar and winter air. My pulse roared, confused by the mix of desires inside me. The scent was so refreshing, addictive and intoxicating that I had to bite down on my lower lips to muffle the moans threatening to spill past my lips when I breathed in the scent
I snapped my head back to see them. The cold gray gazed Twins Alpha of the BlueMoon Pack. Kael and Kieran Grayson. Tall. Broad-shouldered. Jaw sculpted to perfection. Prodigies on the Ice.
I haven't seen them since I got married and they haven't changed one bit—still as arrogant as ever. And when my gaze fell to the sexy tattoos on their necks and upper abs, heat rose to my cheeks.
These men were my bullies in highschool. I hated them because they think a woman shouldn't play hockey because everything would go to waste when she get married and started having children—and I hated the fact that they were right, especially that I gave up my career for that my asshole husband.
Their eyes raked over me and I didn't miss the way it's lingered far too long on my exposed cleavage. My breasts reacted to them as I felt goosebumps rising on each moulds and my nipples hardened.
“Look who we have here?“ Kael sneered, their smirk mirrored each other. “It's the one and only Queen of Ice.“
“Gone for three years,” Kieran added, shoving his hands deep into his pockets. “Now.. she is back for the pre-season and she desperately wants to waste away.“
I rolled my eyes in annoyance. “It's none of your damn business.“ I turned back towards the bartender. “The drink.“
She nodded with a forced smile and her body was trembling slightly which I knew it was because of the powerful aura of the twins. She turned away but before she could reach for a bottle of drink, Kael's voice stopped her again.
“Don't. Give. Her.“
And of course, she obeyed. Her fear-filled eyes shifted between us.
I clenched my fists tightly. My nose flared up. Are they still trying to corner me now?
“Who the hell did you think you are to decide if I should be served drinks or not?“ I growled.
The twins remained calm, clearly unbothered by my outburst. Kieran stepped closer and held my chin up. “Because we don't want you to waste away, sweetheart.“
I slapped his hands away and scoffed bitterly. “Why did you care if I waste away or not?“
“So you won't have any excuse when our women win your team tomorrow,” Kael replied, his voice dripping with mockery. “It would be humiliating if your women lose… especially the fact that your men team didn't even make it up to the second phase of the tournament.“
Yeah… our men team are totally a wack. They lost in the first phase and it was one of the reasons why Lucien didn't want me to play because he feels 'embarrased' that his wife is an expert than he is.
I knew this was a lost cause, so I snatched my purse, opened it and slammed a few dollars note on the counter. “I will go to another bar then.“ I glare at them, made the fuck you finger and stormed out of the bar.
I stepped out, walking towards the dark alley only for someone to suddenly sweep me off my feet. “Leave me alone,” I screamed, thrashing against the frame but from the familiar scent I could already tell that it was the Twins.
No words—until we got to the packing lot and he hurled me into the backseat of a Lamborghini.
I glanced at them and spat, “Did you know this is kidnapping?“
The both of them exchanged glances. Kieran leaned down, his hands pressing against the leather chair at either side of me and he tilted forward, his lips just inches away from mine.
My chest pounded at the close proximity and I clenched my purse tightly to steady myself. Oh fuck… my clit throbbed and I could feel my peaks now pressing hard against my bra.
“Yes, sweetheart… you're more than welcome to sue us.“
His voice stroked places I never knew existed in my body and I fell speechless because I didn't trust my voice at the moment; I was afraid I'd moan instead.
His gaze was intense; terrifying—and devastatingly beautiful.
With one hand, he turned my legs into the car, letting me sit properly. “We'll drop you off at your hotel.“
Kieran slide in beside me, while Kael slide in through the other door and now I was seated between them, in heat.
“Drive, Ray,” Kael commanded.
The driver ignited the car and pulled the middle cover over.
The car weaved through the bubbling kingdom in silence. Every second felt torturing as my cunt clenched desperately around nothing. My wolf howled in anticipation—urging me to claim them.
I hated them. I wanted them.
My chest heaved as I met Kieran’s eyes, then Kael’s. “If my husband can cheat…” I whispered, my voice breaking. “Then I can do better.”
I swallowed hard, my pride dissolving in the heat between us.
“Please… fuck me.”
Before I could fully process what was happening, a sharp pain exploded through the side of my stomach.I gasped, my body jerking in shock. My eyes dropped slowly, and that was when I saw it.A knife.Sticking out of my side.My heart stuttered violently against my chest as panic rushed through me. I turned my head weakly and saw the girl standing there, her hand still gripping the handle. Her face was twisted with rage and satisfaction.I tried to pull the knife out, my hands shaking, but it wouldn’t move.Silver.The realization hit me hard. That was why it hurt so badly. That was why my body felt like it was shutting down.Cynthia screamed when she saw it. “Oh my God!” she cried, rushing toward me in panic. My legs gave out, and I collapsed onto the ground, the world spinning around me. My breathing became heavy and uneven, each breath harder than the last. The girl stepped closer, lifting the knife again, her eyes wild.“I told you,” she hissed. “I told you I was going to finish yo
Seeing the letter made me flinch at first, my heart jumping slightly. But that fear didn’t last long. Almost immediately, it was replaced with anger. Pure disgust.“What the fuck?” I muttered. What did she even want with them?I didn’t want the twins. I didn’t need them. They were all hers if she wanted them so badly. And who even sent this letter? How did they get into my room? The questions made my head ache.My fingers tightened around the paper until it crumpled. I walked to the window, shoved it open, and threw the letter out without a second thought.Bullshit.Who gives a fuck about them anyway? Who cares? I didn’t want them. I didn’t want their attention, their games, or their drama. If anything, I wanted distance—complete distance.I clenched my jaw, anger bubbling inside me. I wished I could see her face-to-face, just once, so I could tell her clearly: Girl, I don’t need your men. I don’t want them. I don’t want to see them. I don’t care about them. They were shady, dangerous
Then the game started again. As if nothing had happened. As if a girl hadn’t just been shot right in front of us.The bottle spun once more, clinking softly against the table, and people began answering again. This time, everyone told the truth. No lies. No hesitation. Fear had done its job. The rules were clear now—one mistake, one lie, and you were dead. For a moment, it almost felt… calm. Too calm.My heart, however, refused to slow down. I stayed alert, my senses sharp, constantly watching Cynthia from the corner of my eye. She was quiet, her body stiff, her face pale. She was still processing everything, still trapped in shock. Then the bottle stopped. It landed on Cynthia. My breath caught in my throat. Before the beta could even speak, a man I had never seen before suddenly raised his voice. “I want to ask her,” he said eagerly. My stomach dropped.Cynthia panicked instantly. I felt it through the way her body tensed beside me. Without thinking, I reached for her hand and squee
I muttered the words without thinking. The moment they left my mouth, I felt it.Cynthia’s eyes lifted to mine. They were wide, filled with confusion, and in that instant, my heart dropped. I knew I had messed up. Badly. She didn’t know anything about my divorce. She didn’t know about the mess my life had become, or how everything had fallen apart so quietly. I had planned to tell her—eventually. When the time was right. When I had the courage. But now she was hearing it this way.In the middle of a stupid game. Her gaze stayed on me for a few seconds longer, shock and confusion tangled together, before she slowly looked away. That hurt more than I expected. She didn’t say anything. She didn’t even glance at me again.I wanted to explain. I really did. I wanted to tell her that I wasn’t hiding it because I didn’t trust her, but because I was scared. Scared of pity. Scared of judgment. Scared of reopening wounds I had barely managed to close. But she didn’t give me the chance. My eyes
Then I felt it clearly—Cynthia’s heartbeat. It was beating heavily.Too fast.It thudded wildly against her chest, so loud that for a moment I swore I could actually hear it. Her hand was cold in mine, slightly damp with sweat, and her fingers trembled as she held on to me like I was the only solid thing left in the room.I squeezed her fingers gently. Not because I was brave. But because she needed it.“It’s okay,” I whispered softly, even though it wasn’t. Even though I was lying through my teeth. She leaned closer to me, her shoulder brushing mine. Her breathing was shallow and uneven, like she was afraid that if she breathed too deeply, something terrible would happen. I could feel her fear soaking into me, mixing with my own. Then—The beta clapped his hands once. The sound was sharp and sudden, slicing through the room and making several people jump.“Now,” he said calmly, his voice echoing slightly, “we’ll go around the circle. One by one.”My stomach twisted painfully.“You’ll
All eyes turned toward Cynthia. The sharp sound of the shattered glass had pulled everyone’s attention to us, and for a second, it felt like the entire room was holding its breath. My heart slammed painfully against my chest as I felt the weight of dozens of gazes pressing down on us.I forced a smile.A fake one.One that didn’t reach my eyes.“It was a mistake,” I said calmly, even though my insides were burning with fear. The room relaxed almost immediately. Conversations resumed. Some people laughed it off. Others turned back to their drinks like nothing had happened.Just like that.Life continued.I exhaled slowly and leaned closer to Cynthia.“Calm down,” I whispered harshly. “Getting scared won’t get us out of here. It will only make things worse.”She swallowed hard, her hands trembling slightly.“We just need to plan how to survive,” I continued quietly. “That’s all that matters now.”Her breathing was uneven.“And if we had left earlier when I told you to,” I added, unable
