CELINE’S POV

-

I hear unfamiliar sounds but there is one voice that is familiar to my ears...

“Wife...”

Lance.

“I promise to be better. I will dedicate myself to being the best father and husband I can be. Please, wake up. I cannot face a life without you. One of my deepest fears is that our children will grow up without your presence, they might inherit my flaws, and I won’t be able to guide them with the same wisdom and grace that you possess. Celine, my love for you is boundless. I love you more than words can express. Please, don’t leave us.”

With a gentle, unhurried motion, opened my eyes, feeling as though they had been closed for a very long time.

I blinked a few times, trying to get my eyes to focus.

For a moment I couldn’t feel my whole body until I felt a warm hand holding my hand followed by warm tears.

Following the line of my hand’s direction... my eyes met Lance.

His head was bent low, both of his hands gently cradling mine, his thumb softly tracing circles on my skin. “
