“What the hell?!” Carlos yelled.

Before his words fully settled in the air, more gunshots rang through the mansion. This time, they were much closer. The sound was sharper, heavier, and more controlled than before.

Ryder barely had time to react. Suddenly, a loud blast tore through the room.

The explosion shook the walls and sent dust and broken tiles flying everywhere. Ryder reacted on instinct. He threw himself sideways in the safe room just as the force of the blast slammed into the room. Pieces of the ceiling crashed down, glass shattered, and the air filled with smoke and debris.

Ryder covered his head with his arms and pressed his body flat against the floor. The sound rang loudly in his ears. For a few seconds, everything felt unreal.

Then… silence. Slowly, Ryder lifted his head.

The smoke cleared little by little, and what he saw made his breath catch.

Carlos’s men were down. Some lay sprawled across the floor, unmoving, blood spreading beneath them. Others had b

    Carlos laughed out loud. The sound echoed through the broken hallway, bouncing off cracked walls and shattered glass. It was not a joyful laugh. It was sharp, mocking, and cruel. The kind of laughter that came from someone who believed the battle was already won. It grated against Ryder’s ears. “You thought you were going to fool me with your plan, huh?” Carlos said, his voice calm and confident. Ryder’s grip tightened around his gun. Carlos stepped closer, his boots crunching over debris. “Your lover is in the hospital, right?” Carlos continued. “Just wait for the call. You’ll get to see your lover’s dead body soon. That is, if you even survive long enough to hear it.” He smiled. From the way Carlos said those words, Ryder knew it. Their plan had already been exposed. Everything he had prepared. Every move he had calculated. All of it had been seen through. Ryder opened his mouth to speak, to shout, to order a change of plan— But nothing came out. His mind was blank. Be

    “Ryder! More people are entering the place. We need to be quick!” Ryan warned. Ryder didn’t respond with words. Instead, he reached into his jacket and pulled out a grenade. His jaw tightened as he pulled off the pin and tossed it toward the next wave of enemies rushing in through the broken entrance. The grenade landed and a loud explosion followed. In seconds, fire, smoke, and shattered concrete filled the air. The entire squad was taken out instantly. Bodies were thrown back, crashing into walls and pillars. Ryder was about to breathe out in relief when Ryan’s voice rang out again, louder this time. “Ryder, watch out!” Before Ryder could fully register the warning, a deafening roar shook the entire mansion. Boom! The force threw him backward. His ears rang painfully as smoke poured into the hallway. When he lifted his head, his eyes widened. Several of his guards lay motionless on the floor. Blood covered the tiles. Broken walls, shattered glass, and chunks of concr

    As soon as Ryder drove into the mansion compound, another car followed closely behind him which was Ryan’s. Ryder turned off his engine and stepped out of the car. When he turned, he saw Ryan walking toward him quickly. Ryan’s brows were drawn together in surprise. “What are you doing here?” Ryan asked. “I thought you would still be at the hospital.” Ryder did not answer immediately. His eyes scanned the compound, the walls, the guards, every movement. “I know,” Ryder finally said. “I came back to inspect things myself.” Ryan’s expression hardened. “You noticed something too?” Ryder started walking toward the entrance of the mansion while Ryan followed beside him. “I saw unfamiliar faces on the CCTV last night,” Ryder said calmly. “Did you recruit anyone recently?” Ryan stopped walking. “No,” he said quickly. “I didn’t.” Realization hit him immediately. “Shit,” Ryan muttered. Ryder turned to face him. “That means we’re already compromised.” “I’ll handle it,” Rya

  • HEIR OF PAIN   Chapter 152

    Ryder stepped out of the small resting room inside the ward, already dressed in a dark suit. The mirror he had passed earlier showed a man he barely recognized. His face looked sharper, thinner. His eyes were tired and hollow, carrying weeks of pain and sleepless nights. He walked toward the hospital bed slowly. Arden was still lying there, unmoving, surrounded by machines and soft beeping sounds. His chest rose and fell steadily, but that was the only sign that he was alive. Ryder stopped beside the bed. He just stood there, looking at Arden’s face. The face that used to be full of life now looked pale and fragile. His lips were slightly dry. His lashes rested softly against his cheeks. He looked like he was sleeping, but Ryder knew better. He sighed quietly and leaned forward. He kissed Arden’s forehead gently. “I will be back, Ardey,” Ryder whispered. As much as Ryder wanted to stay, he knew he could not keep ignoring everything anymore. For one whole month, he had

    ~~~~~~~~One Month Later~~~~ It had been one month since the incident.One whole month and Arden was still lying in the hospital bed, surrounded by machines, his chest rising and falling slowly with each breath. The doctors had said he was out of danger, that the surgery had been successful, and that his body was stable. Yet, despite all of that, Arden refused to wake up. He remained in a coma. For Ryder, that one month felt longer than his entire life. Ever since Arden was brought into the hospital that day, Ryder had not been himself. The man who once ruled the city with fear and authority now spent most of his time sitting quietly beside a hospital bed. Meetings were postponed. Deals were handed over to others. At some point, Ryan had no choice but to take control of the company and the gang’s affairs. Ryder didn’t argue neither did he care. Nothing mattered more than Arden. Ryder pulled the chair closer to the bed and sat down slowly. He reached out and held Arden’s hand,
