“No.” Ryder’s voice came out even and quiet. He reached for the glass of water in front of him, lifted it, and drank without looking at anyone.

Arden blinked. “What?” His tone carried a mix of disbelief and hurt. “I have every right to leave. You accused me of harming Kellan, and it’s been proven I didn’t do it. I have to resume uni—I’ve missed a lot already.”

The dining room fell silent. The only sound came from the faint clink of Ryder’s glass as he set it down again. Everyone at the table lowered their eyes to their plates. The atmosphere was heavy, almost frozen. Ryder didn’t respond. He adjusted the cuffs of his dark suit jacket and rose from his seat. His movements were slow, deliberate.

Arden’s eyes followed him, waiting for something—anything—that might soften the rejection. But there was nothing.

Ryder turned toward his mother. “I’ll be heading out, Mom.”

Then, almost as an afterthought, he looked toward Corner who was at the far corner of the room and said, in that

  • HEIR OF PAIN   Chapter 99: Curtis

Arden reached out with trembling fingers and slammed the laptop shut. The sharp sound echoed through the office. Silence followed. He hugged himself tightly, curling into the chair as his body shook. His chest felt tight, as if he could not breathe properly. The truth pressed down on him, heavy and painful, settling deep into his bones. His parents did not die in an accident. They were murdered. And the person who killed them was his Uncle Curtis. Arden shook his head slowly, disbelief flooding his mind. It didn’t make sense. Curtis had always been there. He had been close to his parents, almost like family even before everything happened. He remembered Curtis laughing with his father, sharing meals with them, promising to protect Arden no matter what. So why? Why would he kill his own brother and sister-in-law? Was that why everything changed after his parents died? Was that why Curtis became cold, controlling, and wicked towards him? Was all of it an act from the beginning? Qu

  • HEIR OF PAIN   Chapter 98: Death

Arden stood quietly at the edge of the large room, watching as the once calm space filled with members of the Black family, armed guards, and mansion staff. The atmosphere was heavy. No one spoke above a whisper. Ryder sat at the head of the room, his posture relaxed, his face unreadable. That alone made Arden uneasy. Ryder was most dangerous when he looked calm. “Hey! What the hell is this?” Jewel shouted as guards dragged her inside. “Stop holding me like that!” They released her in the middle of the room. Jewel stumbled slightly, then straightened herself and glared at the guards with fury. “Boss, we caught her snooping in your office,” one of the guards reported. “What?” Jewel scoffed. “Snooping? I was only looking for Ryder.” She turned immediately to him, her voice softening, her hand resting on her belly. “Ryder, what’s going on? You know I’m pregnant. Stress isn’t good for me or the baby,” she said sweetly. Arden couldn’t help it as he laughed. The sound echoed

  • HEIR OF PAIN   Chapter 97: Silicone Baby Bump

Kyle stepped forward, sensing the tension in Arden’s voice. He looked at Arden’s phone, his eyes widening. “What the fuck?” he said loudly, taking the phone from Arden to be sure of what he was seeing. He replayed the CCTV footage, and the same scene appeared. Kyle lifted his head and looked at Arden. “It’s a fake pregnancy,” he said. “She’s wearing a silicone baby bump.” They rewound the footage again and watched Jewel carefully as she put on the silicone belly. ~~~~~~IRON FANG HQ~~~~~ “Won’t killing them start a war?” Ryan asked as he dropped his cigarette into the ashtray. Ryder took a slow drag, then exhaled calmly. “They tried to kill me first,” he said coldly. “It’s only logical that I respond. No one touches me and walks away.” Ryan nodded. “Whatever you decide to do, I’ve got your back,” he said, leaning into his chair. The room fell silent for a moment before Ryder stood up and headed toward the door. “The torture room?” Ryan asked. Ryder nodded withou

  • HEIR OF PAIN   Chapter 96: Aunt

Arden stood up from the ground, ignoring the pain that shot through his body. His eyes were fixed on the burning car, and a scream tore from his throat. “Ryder!!” he shouted, taking a step toward the flames. “Ryder!!” Someone grabbed his arms, holding him back. Arden twisted and struggled, panic and fear taking over. “Let go of me!! I want to save him! Ryder is in there! Save him!” he yelled, his voice cracking. The heat from the fire was unbearable, but Arden ignored it. He used his elbow to push the person holding him. “Arden!! Stop struggling. I’m alive. It’s me!” a familiar voice yelled from behind him. Arden froze. He turned slowly. His eyes widened. Ryder was there, holding him. Alive. “Ry… Ryder?” Arden whispered, his voice trembling. He touched Ryder’s face, searching for proof that he was real. Then his gaze flicked back to the burned car, smoke rising in thick black clouds. “I thought… I thought I lost you,” Arden sobbed, his knees almost giving out. He threw

As Arden walked into the building, he headed straight for the reception desk. The place was quiet but busy, with staff moving around and phones ringing softly in the background. “Good afternoon, sir. How may I help you?” the receptionist asked politely. “Is Ryder in his office?” Arden asked. The receptionist paused. She looked at Arden again, slightly surprised by how casually he had said her boss’s name, without any title or formality. “Yes, he is,” she replied carefully. “Do you have an appointment with him?” Arden shook his head. “I don’t need an appointment with him.” With that, he turned and took a step forward, intending to walk past the desk. The receptionist quickly stood up and stepped in front of him. “Sir, you can’t go in,” she said firmly. “Without an appointment, you’re not allowed to see him.” Arden sighed. He felt a little embarrassed as he noticed a few staff members turning their heads to watch. The receptionist had raised her voice slightly, and it

  • HEIR OF PAIN   Chapter 94: Dig Deeper

Arden and Kyle had entered the campus cafeteria a few minutes ago. The place was crowded, filled with voices, laughter, and the clatter of plates, but none of it reached Arden. He sat across from Kyle, staring down at the tray in front of him. The food remained untouched. He picked at it slowly, pushing rice from one side of the plate to the other, then stopping altogether. His shoulders were tense and his face drawn tight. Anyone who knew him well could tell something was wrong. Kyle noticed almost immediately. He watched Arden for a moment before speaking. “You should stop worrying, Arden.” Arden let out a slow sigh and dropped the spoon onto the plate. “I should be worried, Kyle,” he said quietly. “Ryder has Derek with him.” Kyle raised an eyebrow. “So?” he scoffed. “Don’t tell me you’re feeling sorry for Derek after everything he did to you.” Arden shook his head sharply. “No,” he said, irritation slipping into his voice. “You don’t get it.” Kyle leaned forward. “T
