Damien's Pov

The hospital halls were never quiet. Not really. Even on the slowest days, there was always some beeping monitor or the soft murmur of nurses exchanging notes. I liked the noise, though. It filled the silence in my own head—the silence I’d never quite learned how to live with since that night.

Since...Alina.

God, I hadn't said her name in years. Not aloud.

It’s not like I didn’t think about her. I did. More than I should’ve. She was my patient, I told myself. That’s all. It was natural to worry about patients who came in the way she did—broken, bleeding, unconscious. Barely alive.

Barely human.

And then she disappeared. Whisked away by Theo and that steel-eyed woman like she was a government secret. No goodbye. No update. Nothing.

I told myself I was okay with that so I kept practicing. Kept saving people because it's what I do... what I’m good at.

Still, I caught myself staring at my office window a lot more these past few weeks. Wondering if I did enough. If I should’v

  • HEIRESS REBORN   BENEATH THE SURFACE

POV: DAMIENIt starts in a ballroom. One of those events with velvet ropes and gold logos slapped on photo walls, where everybody is dressed like they are rich and important even if they are not, and everybody acts like they matter even if they don’t. I am only here because Kaia asked me to come. No, told me. She said it like it was a favor to her. She said it like it would be quick. But nothing is ever quick with Kaia. And I like the love sick puppy that I am agreeShe is across the room now, laughing softly with some ambassador whose name I don’t remember. Her hand is on his arm. Her smile is polished. Her dress is the kind that makes men forget their last name. And me? I am just a shadow she brought along.Until Nicholas walks in.He walks in like he owns the air. Wears his anger like it’s a tailored suit. The moment he spots me, his eyes harden. Something shifts. People move around us, music plays, cameras flash, but his attention is glued to me like a loaded gun.He doesn’t come

  • HEIRESS REBORN   TRIGGER POINTS

POV: NATHANIELI see the video go wild on the net and I know I am supposed to care about the optics, the angle, the edit, the headlines, the all so very clear way someone is attacking me. But I don’t. Not really.Because all I see is his hand on her waist. Damien fucking Voss. The way she laughs softly at something he whispers. The way she looked at him like he was made of something she wanted to taste. Kaia. That goddamn woman. That same unreadable look in her eyes that pisses me off more than anything.Except it is not unreadable as she looks at him. No, they are practically glowing. At another man.A man that is not me.It is infuriating. My phone won’t stop buzzing. PR is trying to spin it, and my assistant keeps dropping phrases like "unhinged" and "mental spiral" and "investor confidence."I ignore all of hem.Instead, I am gripping the remote too tight as I press the rewind button. I pause the screen. I zoom in. Her hand is resting on Damien’s arm. Not forced. Not shy. Like it

  • HEIRESS REBORN   UNINVITED EYES

POV: ALINAThe first time I ask him, he just stares at me like I have lost my mind.“Publicly?” Damien says, one brow raised. “You want me to go out with you. In public. For what, exactly?”I bite the inside of my cheek to steady myself. My heart is already racing, and we are not even at the hard part yet. He is standing by the window in his kitchen, arms crossed, sunlight cutting sharp lines across his face. I hate how calm he looks. Like nothing can touch him. Like I am the only one still shaking from everything.I hate how he makes me feel this way.“For the next move,” I say, trying to sound like I know exactly what I am doing. “I need them to see us. Together.”He laughs, but there is no humor in it. “Right. You need the image. Not the man.”“That is not fair.”“It is not? Could have fooled me.”I open my mouth, then close it again. I don’t know what to say. I am not lying to him, not really. But I am not giving him everything either. That used to work. Not anymore.“Damien-”He

  • HEIRESS REBORN   YOU'RE ALONE NOW

POV: ELENA CROSSI'm not used to silence. Not like this. Not the kind that hangs in the air like a threat.Usually, when things get bad, I get louder. Calls. Damage control. Charm. Spin. But today, the phones don’t ring. No press statements. No assistant chirping updates. Just me, sitting in my office like a ghost waiting to be buried.Years and years of hard work, of bribes and bowing and lies and sacrifices… all down the drain.Just like that "Madam,” a knock sounds vefire the door opens. “He is out," my chief consultant says, voice stiff. He is standing by the door, not even pretending he wants to sit down like he used to. There is no need to. I have lost my throne. I am surprised he is even still here.“Who is our?” I murmur as I look away from him."The Peters fund. They have pulled everything."I stare at him. "Why?"He blinks. Like the answer is obvious. "The leak. The ethics hearing. The whisper campaigns. Teg graveyard blogs… need I go on.""That wasn’t me. That wasn’t—" I t

  • HEIRESS REBORN   THE BREAKING POINT

POV: SASHAI spend the whole morning trying to fix things that are already broken. That graveyard video is everywhere, on blogs, TikTok, gossip channels. “Why are Elena Cross and Sasha Moore digging up Alina Rivers?” It plays over and over, different voices, same tone. Mocking. Suspicious. Hungry for blood.Bloody sharks. My apartment is flooded with the press at theoent so I am hiding out at the foundation office, but I can’t think. My assistant knocks twice, then peeks her head in. She looks scared.“What?!” I snap at her "They froze the accounts," she says. Quiet, like if she says it too loud the walls will collapse.I blink. "Which ones?"She swallows. "All. The operating account, the campaign fund, even your personal cards are getting flagged."“What about the ones I just opened last-”“Frozen too. It was flagged when you opened it.”Fuck.I grab my bag. "Tell Jerome to meet me at the bank. Now."Outside, the cameras are already waiting. I should have expected that.Still, I k

  • HEIRESS REBORN   DIGGING HER OWN GRAVE

POV: ELENAI should have said no. The moment Sasha brought up the grave, I should have shut it down. I should have walked away, told her to get some rest, called a doctor or sent her to resort slash rehab centre, pretended this whole thing was a delusion. But I didn't. And now here I am. Standing by a dug-up coffin in the might like some madwoman from a tabloid scandal, breathing in the thick smell of old dirt and guilt.I want to throw up."I can’t do this," I whisper, but it is too late. The coffin is open. The body is there or whatever is left of it.Sasha is staring down, wide eyed, like she is expecting the corpse to sit up and call her by name. Her hands are shaking. She has got dirt on her then and her blazer is wrinkled. Her mouth keeps moving like she is talking to herself but no sound is coming out.Pathetic.Really, what has gotten into these kids these days?"You need to get it together," I tell her. My voice is low but sharp. Too sharp. I am trying to keep control. I am t
