CAMILLA RYDER

Each spoonful I took felt heavier under Lorenzo’s unblinking gaze. I didn't have to look back at him to know he was watching every of my movement as though he was waiting for me to do something so he could probably snap at me.

But I did my best to act like I hadn’t noticed, even though the weight of his stare was suffocating. I reached for my glass and gulped down water—more than I needed, hoping he'd take the hint.

He didn’t.

Instead, he cleared his throat, his eyes still pinned on me like a hawk sizing up its prey.

“Our last meeting with Mr. Ryder… was rather pleasant,” he began, his voice sounded smooth but laced with an edge. “Still, I had a gut feeling things wasn't going to end so pleasantly...”

I dabbed my lips with a napkin, deliberately slow, and more gracefully, like that was going to change the topic. I cut in.

“What exactly are you getting at, Lorenzo?” I asked, my voice calm and my face emotionless. The kind of tone and face that says you’re wasting your tim

  • HER ROYAL MAFIA   PLAY ALONG

CAMILLA RYDERThere was something about the night that didn’t sit right with me. The air felt too still, too heavy, like the calmness before a storm. Maybe it was the strange energy left behind after the run-in with Lorenzo this morning. Or maybe… it was just me. Either way, I couldn’t shake the feeling. As I stepped out of the shower, steam curling around me, my eyes darted to the wall clock. It was 10:10 PM.Was he still going to show up for the date? Or was this just another one of Lorenzo’s twisted little games again?I hadn’t realized how much I’d been thinking about it—about him—until this moment. The anticipation that bloomed in my chest annoyed me. I let out a quiet sigh and shook my head, disappointed at myself.I hated Lorenzo. I didn’t need anyone to tell me that. I knew it.And yet… sometimes I found myself drawn to him.His smile—arrogant, smug, dangerous—was annoyingly attractive, sometimes. My pulse quickened every time he came too close. just too close. No one had ever

  • HER ROYAL MAFIA   DEAD END

VINCENZO CASTILLONew York City.I downed the last shot of alcohol in my glass, not even realizing how much time had passed. An hour ago, I was standing right outside Giulia’s door, my legs stiffened. Now? I was deep in a bar, drowning in liquor, trying to silence the chaos in my head.At this rate, I was going to lose my mind. I was already losing it.I had tried—God knows I’d tried—to keep the truth from her. But it’s eating me alive. If Camilla ever found out her son, Jeoffery, was alive all this time… she’d kill me.And now, Alexandro wants the boy dead, just to keep her obedient. Like her life isn’t already wrapped in enough pain. It’s too much. Too heavy. And I’m right in the middle of it, being pulled under.I couldn’t carry out Papa’s orders. I just couldn’t. But neither could I even face Camilla… Or look into her eyes and pretend none of this ever happened. That guilt was louder than any bullet, and the only way I could numb it was to drink.Maybe, just maybe if I was drunk e

  • HER ROYAL MAFIA   HIS GAME

New York CityCAMILLA RYDERAs soon as Lorenzo finished eating, something felt off. He was unusually quiet. Not that I wanted conversation from him or I craved for it— God knows he talks like he’s holding a blade to your throat — but his silence was worse. It was the kind that creeps under your skin and lingers.I glanced up but, when our eyes met— God it was embarrassing. It was like being caught stealing glances at a loaded gun. I quickly looked away, pretending I hadn’t been watching him only to catch him staring again."Why are you staring?" I blurted before he could say anything, not that he wanted to say anything but I just wanted to win whatever weird silent battle we were suddenly having. I didn’t want it to seem like I was the one watching him first. He didn’t answer. Instead, he calmly wiped the corners of his mouth with the napkin, like I hadn’t said a word. Like I didn't even exist.Seriously? Then he stood — and d*mn, he stood tall. His straight, muscular legs stretched u

  • HER ROYAL MAFIA   MISSION IMPOSSIBLE

VINCENZO CASTILLOMilan City, Italy. The moment I stepped into the Castillo mansion, Mirko was already waiting. My right-hand man and close friend—third in command after me—greeted me with his usual sharp nod and led me through the marble-floored entryway. In the Castillo gang, we're all considered family. Not by blood, but by something stronger. Even though Don Alexandro only picked most of us up in our darkest and weakest moment, he sheltered and brought us into the Castillo gang, then trained us into his loyal soldiers. But my story? It was different. Maybe that’s why the others think he holds me a little closer than the rest. Because I didn’t owe him my life. He owed me his.I was just nine, nothing more than a slave boy in the Celestino mansion when a war broke out between my master, Father Celestino, and Alexandro’s gang. But... I'd always wanted Celestino dead and when I found the opportunity, just at the slightest moment at the brim of death, the man’s pistol slipped from his

  • HER ROYAL MAFIA   HIS DIDDEN WANT

CAMILLA RYDERI took a slow sip of wine, my eyes fixed on the glittering skyline beyond the five-star hotel’s glass wall. The city glowed, calm and oblivious. Unlike Vincenzo, who sat across from me like a man waiting for a bomb to go off.His eyes never left me, sharp and searching."I think it’s time you told me exactly what you’re planning," he said, his legs crossed, and his voice tight.I didn’t look at him—yet. A faint smirk tugged at the corners of my lips."I'm not planning anything, Vin," I murmured, finally turning to meet his gaze head-on.He scoffed, tapping his fingers against his lips, reading the lies between my calm expression."You’re not just playing around with Liam and Karen. I know you faked Karen’s adoption to mess with Liam. Just because I haven’t said anything doesn’t mean I don’t know, Giulia."I let out a soft sigh and leaned back in my chair."You wouldn’t have helped me if I asked. You’re too loyal to Papa, so don’t act betrayed."Vincenzo leaned in, his ey
